Photographer Captures The Unique And Amazing People Of The New York Subway (40 Pics)
Have you ever wanted to be a model? Well, if you live in New York and take the subway, you might become one. New York photographer Andreas, better known as Mr. NYC Subway, asks random strangers on the subway if they would like to model for him and the result is quite amazing.
Simple strangers going to work, for dance practice, or just living their lives become professional models. Andreas's photos also show the many unique, beautiful, and simply fun people in the world! The pictures inspire you to dress the way you want to and express yourself for who you really are.

On Andreas's website, there's more information about him: "Creativity is the Root of all Good! Mr. NYC Subway is a New York artist whose photography has been published in the New York Times, Yahoo, and NBC New York. With a strong passion for capturing images of the NYC Subway and having worked with some of the most talented creators in New York, Andreas has been able to grow substantial followings on both Instagram (93,000) and TikTok (1.1 million) through his unorthodox imagery."
The dancer is amazing ... I'm just as impressed, if not more, with her body tights.
"Mr. NYC Subway has exhibited and sold his art all over the United States. His most notable solo exhibits have been in NYC, Art Basel Miami 2019, and San Diego. Mr. NYC Subway is represented by Art Broker Jason Perez who is based out of Miami.
Originally from San Diego (CA), Andreas moved to Manhattan in 2014 with aspirations to find his true calling as an attorney within business law. After several years of living in the Big Apple, Andreas would discover much more about himself than just being a lawyer."
"Andreas started his artistic journey back in October of 2017 as an effort to change how he viewed his commute. Instead of focusing on all the negative aspects of the NYC Subway, he started to put his attention towards its positive and creative characteristics.
After making this change in perspective, Andreas discovered his passion for photography and bought his first camera. Fast forward to the present day, Andreas is now a professional photographer who captures portraits, street photography, and landscape images which have been sold all over the world."
There are many articles about street photography here on Bored Panda. Here's one about perfectly timed street photos. Or maybe you would like to see some street photos from Japan? Or candid photos that won The Independent Photographer’s contest in “street photography.”
Really nice photo, but I can't imagine walking barefoot on the subway floor-
"Welcome to the commencement New York's annual Purge. For the next 12hrs, all crime, including murder is legal." In the distance, the siren blares
Why are there so many ballet dancers in their toe shoes in the Subway?
Great photos but I'm confused about whether they're supposed to be candid photos. It seems like a lot of people (the dancers in particular), went to the subway to pose for photos, rather than being photographed while going about their journey. Still great though!
A couple are candid, but it's obvious that the vast majority are posed. I don't think there are this many ballerinas just hanging about the New York Subway, let alone some of the other, more outlandish characters...
Load More Replies...How are there so many ballet dancers?! I've seen other picture collages like this, but they've never this many ballet dancers, makes all of it really weird.
I kinda have my doubts about the randomness but I still really like these.
So strange seeing the platform without some sort of protective fence or screen door. In and about Seoul, every single station has some kind of protection. The first time I saw an open platform was in Tokyo.
NYC plans to put them in as soon as all the trains are upgraded to RI70 varients. They were on track for that by 2018 originally, but so many were destroyed during Hurricane Sandy that they still are using the old trains from the 90's. The old trains had 3 doors per side , and RI70's have 4 per side. Once everything is standardized, they can put those in.
Load More Replies...Definitely great photos........but so many dancers! I really enjoyed the more quirky ones.
i really love all of these. photography is such a beautiful art and im in love.
I'm an Army Brat, and have lived all over the world, including close to that place pictured above. I cannot begin to imagine living in that pest-hole on an extended basis. I'm also a Southerner, and there is nothing refined and civilized about New Yawk. I don't Ever want to go there again. Out here!
