I think she wasn't there for a long time (don't get me wrong, even for 5 minutes - IT'S TOO LONG!). What I meant, maybe that squatter left her there on purpose - maybe he knew that someone will find her in no time, because he couldn't take care of her anymore. Damn, maybe even he was watching how was she discovered. I think that because she doesn't look skinny at all. Maybe I have too much hope for humans, I don't know.

I just want to say thank you for saving her.

The dog looks to be in great condition, she's affectionate which suggests she has been loved or at least cared for a great deal. I'm thinking the person who left her behind couldn't care for her anymore and left her there knowing the new people would arrive soon anyway.

I will never understand how can be some people so cruel and unresponsible. One might think that once you get a pet, you get close to them and see a friend in it, an unique individual you come to love. I wonder how they treat other people and their close ones then, if they can do this to a helpless pet. ....Also, how hard it is to give to adoption.... ffs.....

Aww, what a sweetie! And, she is so lucky! A women who lived near me...(two properties over but on a different road. I could see her driveway and backyard)...moved but left her Lab and a cat in separate crates in the cellar. They were found months later by the man who bought the home. OMG, was he ever a basket case! Me, too as I would see the dog playing outside from my kitchen window and the cat would be sunning itself on the back deck. The man called AC and when he arrived, so did two officers. It seemed they were in the house like forever. I couldn't see the front part of the house but I was told both crates were handled as it if contained nitro and the men were visibly upset, too. This happened four or five years ago but the memories are so vivid! I never heard the dog bark. No one did. I don't know if the despicable woman was ever charged with animal neglect/abuse,/withholding substance....I wish I did as it would would help me, at least my emotional side could have relief!

This brought tears to my eyes watching her after they found her. She's so happy. I hope she gets a great home.

There needs to be an awakening with sever penalties for people who do c**p like this. The abuse today towards animals is astronomical by people who wouldn't think twice about directing their insanity towards people. Maybe the homeless person who left this adorable girl was hoping she would get found and adopted. Needless to say the homeless person who found refuge in the house most likely needs a place to live. What the hell is going on with the mentality in the world. Our government spends trillions on war, to satisfy the greed of Corporate America and doesn't give a c**p about people and animals in need.

It could have been an auction sale where you buy the house without an inspection, as is. Which would explain why the dog was not found sooner. Poor sweetie, glad she will be loved now, she certainly has tons to give!

This really warms my heart. Her attitude and her energy despite being through such a harrowing experience is one of the main reasons I love animals more then most people.

I agree with Stellermatt, it would be a wonderful world if people were more like our dogs. The dogs I have had in my life, were rescues and better than some people I have known. !

I was weeping throughout the video. It appears this is a female and she had babies. I bet the squatter kept her long enough to have the babies so they could sell them leaving the poor mother behind to die. My faith in my fellow human is almost always sorely tested.

People just leaving or throwing away their animals should be eradicated.

We deserve the wars, we deserve the pain and yes we also deserve to be the captain of this shipwreck of a planet but the thing we don't deserve for sure, has to be dogs.

That story is so heartwrenching. I'm so glad for the happy ending, but I can just imagine the slow painful death she was heading for if no one had checked the basement. In our area a man moved out of an apartment and left a German Shepherd. Maybe he assumed someone would find and take him in, or maybe he didn't care, but the dog died after drinking all the water in the toilet. He'd been there for a long time. His anxiety and his everlasting hope that his master would return until he laid down for a painful horrible death. That man was found and received a small fine for what he did to the dog. If he could do it to a dog, what if it had been a child. I know people do that too, but it starts with animals and there needs to be much more severe punishments. No one will look for the person who did this.

I don't think it was the previous owners. The real estate agent and inspectors would have found her. I think it was a squatter who, for some unknown reason, left the dog behind. Maybe was arrested? Who knows.... She didn't show any signs of abuse, was not that underweight. Something unplanned happened. Regardless, she will hopefully now find a loving home and never be left alone again.

She must have been well treated if she is that loving and trusting a dog. Who knows what happened to the squatter. Maybe that's another sad story. Glad the dog was found. Sad story with a happy ending. According to this she was rescued but not adopted. Let's hope someone has already taken her home.

I'm guessing that the homeless person who had been living there was surprised when the new owner entered the house, and evacuated so quickly that there was no time to take the dog. In the video, the dog is wheezing. That may be a sign of advanced heart worm infection.

Did they check for puppies? She seems to have been nurturing not too long ago.

that dog look pretty damn healthy, i dont think it had been there long at all.

I too doubt that the dog was left purposefully, owner might have been incarcerated, ill or worse. He might have relied on a friend to care for the dog, glad doggie is safe, hope owner is too. And before you say he ought to have told the cops to call the humane society, well we don't know he didn't. Friendly dog, probably not an abused dog.
