One of the best parts of the holiday season is putting up extravagant Christmas decorations, however, just because you think your decorations are fun doesn’t mean your neighbors, who think it is their business with what Christmas ornaments you decorate your yard, will agree. Author Diana Rowland decided to deck her halls with three large and colorful dragons as her outdoor Christmas decorations – but not everyone was onboard with her creative reptile theme.

In a tweet that went viral, Rowland posted a photo of the elaborate Christmas inflatables set alongside an anonymous letter she received from a disgruntled about her yard decorations neighbor. Not to be intimidated by an uptight Grinch and not to ruin the Christmas spirit, the dragon enthusiast decided to respond in the best way she knew how. Scroll down below to read the note and how she fought back for her epic Christmas decorations ideas.

Author Diana Rowland received some Christmas criticism over her decorations not fitting the holiday theme

She should have more appropriate stuff, you know, flying reindeer, talking snowmen, elves, magic nutcrackers. Things that relate to the true Christian meaning of Christmas.

Not everyone believes or celebrates the same holidays. So...if she wants to put pretty dragons up on her lawn during a time where putting lights on your lawn is acceptable, then so be it! :)

America is filled with toxic Christianity by that I mean banging on about God but not having love & peace in your heart and being disrespectful to others, this lady is a good person. If she wants Dragons on her lawn so be it, its HER lawn and the idea to give to a food bank is great. Have a God,dont have a God just dont be a d**k. Merry Christams Dragon lovers!

Why can't people just mind their own damn business. As a christain I hate when people make us all look like extreme unstable nutters. There is so many problems in the world which needs attending to. Christmas decorations isn't one. Furthermore christmas is an orginal pagan holiday so really as christains should we even be celebrating it?

The tag line to a joke about someone complaining to Jesus about the commercialization of Christmas was, "What do I care? I was born in September!"

So you want to talk about the true meaning of Christmas huh? Well lets start with the fact that the bible doesn't even mention the date of Jesus Christ's birth. In fact, for the first three centuries of Christianity’s existence, his birth wasn’t celebrated at all. When Roman church officials settled on December 25 at the end of the third century, they likely wanted the date to coincide with existing pagan festivals honoring Saturn (the Roman god of agriculture) and Mithra (the Persian god of light). That way, it became easier to convince Rome’s pagan subjects to accept Christianity as the empire’s official religion. So the true meaning of Christmas is to hijack a pagan festival and attach your own story to it.

Yes! Baby Jesus could be hatching from an egg. I'd pay good money to see that. When I was a kid, all my toys joined the Nativity. Action figures, china figurines, a rustic clay earthworm - if it had wings, legs or fins, it was in the Nativity.

I didn't have the heart to take him down so I ordered an XXL Santa suit - boots, beard and all - and dressed Grim up as Santa for Christmas. He held a big of toys in one hand a stocking in the other. The dragons look good, and they're not hurting anyone. This "Christian" who sent the message to Ms. Rowland needs to realize that not everyone celebrates Christmas, not everyone is a Christian, and that TOLERANCE and love make the world go 'round. Long live the dragons!

I once gave a Christmas card to the couple that lived next door not realizing that they were Jehovah's Witnesses. I apologized to them later and they said it was all good...that their approach to getting stuff like that was that if it helps the giver to reach out and make new friends, then they are ok with it. Every JW I've run into seems to be patient, understanding and accepting. I respect them. But this neighbor complaining about dragons..yeah..not so much.....

This reminds me of someone house that I pass daily they have those huge skeleton things that are out at Halloween so they wrapped it in outdoor Xmas lights and put a Santa hat on it I wouldn't send a letter, mostly because they think my friend I stole their cat Story: So my friend and I walk to/from school together every day and one day I saw a cat, us being total cat people we ran over to pet it and saying things like "aw, it's so cute and fluffy" etc etc and the owner said "He's a boy and his name is Pumpkin" (we asked because I don't want to misgender it or say "cat" everytime we see him) and we continued petting him and a few weeks later when I was walking to school by myself the owner asked me if I saw Pumpkin and I said "Oh, this is my 1st time walking in a week my mom has been driving my friend and me before" and the lady said "Oh, well he's missing, I was wondering if you or your friend say anything" and I said oh, no sorry, I'll look for him though!"

Well, I'm not a fan of huge plastic decorations any other time than Halloween (on Christmas I'd die for tons of lights but never use any plastic Santas and such) but the nerve this neighbour has to send her a letter this condescending! Unless she's gonna make me look at this until March, I say she can have whatever she wants for Christmas. I can think poorly of her choices or style but to tell her she has to change it for me, what a cconservative douchebag. I would only take such approach if she chose a giant spider decorations, because I am strongly arachnophobic and it would really give me hard time walking past that. Maybe the guy/woman is dragonophobic. Or just really a douche.

Really Bored Panda, are you not better than this to buy into this charade? Not a single line on that so called letter lines up with the folds in the paper. It is one of worst photoshop jobs I've seen in a while and I'm not alone in thinking that. So many people are buying into this woman's story and yet has anyone actually took a moment to check if it's legit? The letter certainly isn't. If it was the letters of the text would bend as the paper does, not lie directly across the top of the bends. If it didn't look so obviously false then I would be all for championing this woman's cause, but I fear that she is just using the anger and hate that is brewing in the world for her own advantage. Her posts are filled with how popular she has become and a none to subtle pitch for her writing. Sounds like a publicity stunt to me.

I don't support this. Why disrepecting someone's belief? Christmas is celebrating the Christ's rebirth! Why ddn't she make that on a Muslim feast date? Ooooh, because she couldn't dare, because we Christians ARE actually open and kind. We take it all. There are things that can't be made fun of, and a dragon has NOTHING to do on a Christmas display. But really! Or either don't celebrate Christmas. Display it for soemthing else, come on! Stop trying to be 'original', or 'different' at all cost!

We were talking about Hindu wedding traditions, but I couldn't keep my eyes off the giant plastic Santa Claus they had standing prominently beside the sofa. It was July. Finally, I asked about it — why, if they were Hindu, did they have a Santa in the room, and why in July? The husband smiled and said, "My wife likes Santa Claus as a decoration. I didn't have the heart to take him down so I ordered an XXL Santa suit - boots, beard and all - and dressed Grim up as Santa for Christmas. He held a big of toys in one hand a stocking in the other.

Wonder if that neighbour would freak out over a French hockey team's jersey having the word Dragons on it (in red and green)

I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out that the letter wasn't even from one of her neighbors. it could have been some random jerk pulling through to look at lights. I get angry letters all the time for the lack of a display.

Happy Holidays, Diana Rowland. You maintain a beautiful home - dragons and all - and thanks to the first amendment in the USA, you're entitled to express yourself especially when cowardly neighbors who don't have the courage to identify themselves and engage in adult conversation with you are offended by your sense of diversity.

Yes, because dragons are less believable compared to Santa and flying reindeer.

My family puts up halloween decor and doesnt take it down. However, we never do those nativity scene things. We aren't christian, so there isn't any point for us to do so anyways. My family (exept grandmother and her mother from my moms side, confusing, ik) is actually Pagan. We celebrate Yule. Its actually a 12 day celebration that starts tomorrow!

I'd say some of the lady's neighbors suffer from 'dragon envy'. I do like the red & green ones, but not so much the black, blue and purple ones. But, they're her dragons, its her yard and there it is.

The reason Christians might be/are offended is because Satan is called a dragon. Revelation 12:1-17

Ridiculous. When I think of Christmas, dragons don't really come to mind at all. I'm glad I don't have a neighbor like this. It honestly seems very childish and petty what she's doing with the dragon display. I do, however, think they are totally appropriate for Halloween.

She is an idiot, but who cares? I don't. If she wishes to ridicule the religious belief's of others. Let her, and if someone is terribly offended and harms her, so what! Free to offend, free to be offended. Just don't bother anyone if your house gets burned to the ground.

She's a well-known author; she doesn't need '5 minutes of fame'. Letter isn't photoshopped; it was tightened to get it all on one screen.

Religious people are known for disgusting and horrible things, unlike gay people—who make things beautiful and have excellent taste in shoes.

This is so stupid. I think both of them are idiots for different reasons. I know it's considered cool to be "savage" and try to further p**s people off that have provoked you in some minuscule way, but actually it's not. It's immature and you're just being an a*****e. I love a good blow up lawn decoration, but to create a hypothetical scenario say I had a blow up cow and grill on my lawn to celebrate national barbecue day and my vegetarian Hindu neighbor said that she felt uncomfortable about it, should I go and add more cows to my lawn?

I don't support this. Why disrepecting someone's belief? Christmas is celebrating the Christ's rebirth! Why ddn't she make that on a Muslim feast date? Ooooh, because she couldn't dare, because we Christians ARE actually open and kind. We take it all. There are things that can't be made fun of, and a dragon has NOTHING to do on a Christmas display. But really! Or either don't celebrate Christmas. Display it for soemthing else, come on! Stop trying to be 'original', or 'different' at all cost!

Yeah, not buying it. That's a pretty weird message her "neighbor" left, in terms of size of the letters. In this day and age, it is entirely appropriate to think this was all made up to get some internet fame.
