Neighbors Are Saying This Woman’s Christmas Dragon Decorations Are Inappropriate, So She ‘Fixes’ It
One of the best parts of the holiday season is putting up extravagant Christmas decorations, however, just because you think your decorations are fun doesn’t mean your neighbors, who think it is their business with what Christmas ornaments you decorate your yard, will agree. Author Diana Rowland decided to deck her halls with three large and colorful dragons as her outdoor Christmas decorations – but not everyone was onboard with her creative reptile theme.
In a tweet that went viral, Rowland posted a photo of the elaborate Christmas inflatables set alongside an anonymous letter she received from a disgruntled about her yard decorations neighbor. Not to be intimidated by an uptight Grinch and not to ruin the Christmas spirit, the dragon enthusiast decided to respond in the best way she knew how. Scroll down below to read the note and how she fought back for her epic Christmas decorations ideas.

She should have more appropriate stuff, you know, flying reindeer, talking snowmen, elves, magic nutcrackers. Things that relate to the true Christian meaning of Christmas.
Better than showing a dead guy on a stick, I guess.

So you want to talk about the true meaning of Christmas huh? Well lets start with the fact that the bible doesn't even mention the date of Jesus Christ's birth. In fact, for the first three centuries of Christianity’s existence, his birth wasn’t celebrated at all. When Roman church officials settled on December 25 at the end of the third century, they likely wanted the date to coincide with existing pagan festivals honoring Saturn (the Roman god of agriculture) and Mithra (the Persian god of light). That way, it became easier to convince Rome’s pagan subjects to accept Christianity as the empire’s official religion. So the true meaning of Christmas is to hijack a pagan festival and attach your own story to it.
Shouldn't "THE TRUE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS" have something in their about love they neighbor. And her dragons.
Whoa, this is one hundred percent better than most inflatable holiday decorations I see. How can you have a problem with dragons?
The real reason for the season? Obviously that neighbor has no idea why there is a Christmas left to save... christmas-...aa280f.jpg

Yes! Baby Jesus could be hatching from an egg. I'd pay good money to see that. When I was a kid, all my toys joined the Nativity. Action figures, china figurines, a rustic clay earthworm - if it had wings, legs or fins, it was in the Nativity.

"It makes your neighbors wonder if you are in a demonic cult." Well, I'm sure the stupid ones do. Actually, there's probably only one neighbor stupid enough to wonder that, and he just talks about himself in the plural. Also, also he is too stupid to understand the correct use of the caps lock key.
Not my business...not in my hula-hoop says this Christian. ...I am in gratitude that you are encouraging a constructive, practical application for the response energy and encouraging those with funds to donate to a cause that meets people's needs. Making a difference.

Yeah. I'd add an absolute ton of dragons. With a message that shockingly, Christian's do not have a monopoly on December.
Nor christmas itself, since it was originally a pagan ritual. XD

Is it me or is bored panda starting to post a lot of these 'shock' or click-bait type of articles... ie. ones where you want to smack the persons in the article?
I LOVE IT AND I AM A CHRISTIAN. I JUDGE NO ONE. I AM NOT WORTHY OF THAT HONOR TO DO SO. SO I SALUTE YOU FOR BEING DIFFERENT.
The Significance of Yule, is that we want Children to make it through to Easter, that's why The All Father is so important. St.Gabriel used to be a dragon, and we love our children.
Man if that was me I'd say "Make me" legally the police can't do anything
If this "true meaning" is so important, what's with the passive-aggression? Either speak up openly or STFU.

Leave it to a religeous zealot to forget that Christmas is a Pagan Celebration and was not legal in the USA until the late 1800's. Probably didn't read about that in our history books. As well, We had better do something about removing that dragon from Revelations so well.
Our history books are written by a bunch of nut jobs down in Texas. Most of them are highly inaccurate.

As a news reporter I had to interview a Hindu couple once. We were talking about Hindu wedding traditions, but I couldn't keep my eyes off the giant plastic Santa Claus they had standing prominently beside the sofa. It was July. Finally, I asked about it — why, if they were Hindu, did they have a Santa in the room, and why in July? The husband smiled and said, "My wife likes Santa Claus as a decoration. Americans have Buddha as decoration; we have Santa Claus. Well, then.
I Love the dragons! Quick story... We have a Halloween Party and built a hugh Grim Reeper - barely fit in the livingroom - my one dog took to it and slept under him every night. I didn't have the heart to take him down so I ordered an XXL Santa suit - boots, beard and all - and dressed Grim up as Santa for Christmas. He held a big of toys in one hand a stocking in the other. He looked great and my dog was happy. (He did come down by Easter though)
I love the dragons! If one of my neighbours did this, I would have the biggest smile on my face!
I put up 8 plastic flamingos in ugly sweaters pulling a sleigh with Santa wearing shades and a tropical shirt

F@ck the neighbors, they are beautiful dragons, love them, and BTW, if the neighbors don't like them, go take a walk on other side or close your eyes, or even watch the other way on.
The dragons look good, and they're not hurting anyone. This "Christian" who sent the message to Ms. Rowland needs to realize that not everyone celebrates Christmas, not everyone is a Christian, and that TOLERANCE and love make the world go 'round. Long live the dragons!

I once gave a Christmas card to the couple that lived next door not realizing that they were Jehovah's Witnesses. I apologized to them later and they said it was all good...that their approach to getting stuff like that was that if it helps the giver to reach out and make new friends, then they are ok with it. Every JW I've run into seems to be patient, understanding and accepting. I respect them. But this neighbor complaining about dragons..yeah..not so much.....
You're lucky in the JWs you know, then. The ones I've met escaped from the loony bin. *Nasty* people--and one told me the JWs sent her to a course to learn to be like that!

Happy Holidays, Diana Rowland. You maintain a beautiful home - dragons and all - and thanks to the first amendment in the USA, you're entitled to express yourself especially when cowardly neighbors who don't have the courage to identify themselves and engage in adult conversation with you are offended by your sense of diversity.
My family puts up halloween decor and doesnt take it down. However, we never do those nativity scene things. We aren't christian, so there isn't any point for us to do so anyways. My family (exept grandmother and her mother from my moms side, confusing, ik) is actually Pagan. We celebrate Yule. Its actually a 12 day celebration that starts tomorrow!
I'd say some of the lady's neighbors suffer from 'dragon envy'. I do like the red & green ones, but not so much the black, blue and purple ones. But, they're her dragons, its her yard and there it is.

Ridiculous. When I think of Christmas, dragons don't really come to mind at all. I'm glad I don't have a neighbor like this. It honestly seems very childish and petty what she's doing with the dragon display. I do, however, think they are totally appropriate for Halloween.

No, SOME Christian's are intolerant. We are Christian's who happen to LOVE the wonderful dragons! What fun!
"I can`t do this because of my religion!" is perfectly fine. "You can`t do this because of my religion!" is not.
Yes, if one of those showed up at my house he'd wind up as the Snitch in the Ditch.
Load More Replies...I have no idea why you would want dragons in your garden, but I would absolutely love a dragon nativity scene
Yes! Baby Jesus could be hatching from an egg. I'd pay good money to see that. When I was a kid, all my toys joined the Nativity. Action figures, china figurines, a rustic clay earthworm - if it had wings, legs or fins, it was in the Nativity.
Load More Replies...Diana Rowland needs a dragon with a golden sickle and handful of mistletoe, so our Pagan friends won't feel left out this Yuletide season.
And I can just see a couple of neighborhood kids lying on her lawn under that mistletoe, making out.

Diana Rowland - much props for the outlook & having a beautiful soul
Love it and her...how was she so lucky to find such cool dragons🐉if a by as a hard I'd have them all over
"It makes your neighbors wonder if you are in a demonic cult." Well, I'm sure the stupid ones do.
Yes! I'm so pleased that she's steering people toward donating the money and helping out.
Load More Replies...If having dragons on your lawn during Christmas means you're in a cult all I wanna say is when Is the next meeting?
I am Christian the marrow, but I still believe how you choose to decorate your own property is your business. That has less to do with Christianity and more to do with the need to control.
Yeah. I'd add an absolute ton of dragons. With a message that shockingly, Christian's do not have a monopoly on December.
Nor christmas itself, since it was originally a pagan ritual. XD
Load More Replies...Good grief, some people have way too much time on their hands to worry about what people place on their front lawns. Right wing Christian fundamentalists/Bible literalists are mostly nuts.
I wasn't sure if I like these dragons - until I saw the last post. The dragon lady is obviously far better person than her neighbours.

I put sugar skull lights on my tree does that mean i did it wrong?
OMG!!!! I CAN'T!!! STOP IT IMMEDIATELY!!! IT'S FREAKING HUUUUUUUURTING!!!! LMFAO!!!! I simply CANNOT think of a better "TOUCHE'" than you provided!!!
I liked the pentagram / Pentacle comment seeing How ORGINALLY Christmas is a Pagan Holiday called Winter solstice ---- so They are the ones that need to learn the true meaning of Christmas
Look on Etsy for the DRAGONS OF BLIZZARD ISLAND. Plush Santa Dragon is a best seller. Love your decor.
Why do I have a feeling that the neighbor who criticized this awesome display is one of those busybodies who complains about anything that doesn't look 'normal'?
Good writer, too. Writes about dragons, strangely.

Very. First thing I said was, "I want!" then found them on-line. Biggest one is just under $200; even the small ones run about $150.

I am a Christian and I have a Dragon tattooed on my arm. I have yet to find any mention, or condemnation of them, in the Bible
There is condemnation of disfiguring ones own body (tattoos for instance).... in the old testament. Which jesus basically threw out the window and said "b***h let people do what they f*****g want and dont be a prick."

A creative way to inspire donations? Completely Christmassy. Bring on the dragons!
Isn't there freedom of relegion, so if you are in a demonic cult, it's non of their busines.
I SEE DRAGONS FOR THE HOLIDAYS ALL THE TIME!!! AND I THINK TO MYSELF.....I WANT A DRAGON IN MY YARD!!!! I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED DRAGONS AND MYSTICAL CREATURES AND BEINGS.....THE NEIGHBOR REALLY NEEDS TO GET A LIFE ......THOU SHALL NOT JUDGE....LEST YE BE JUDGED!!!!! OR HOWEVER IT GOES....YOU GET THE GIST!!!! YOU GO SISTER DRAGON GIRL!!!
"Dear neighbor, Your opinions don't matter and are a personal interpretation of the photons you choose to allow into your retinal pathways. Get a life. Sincerely...."
As long as the Dragons were gussied up in Christmas lights etc I would be fine.Plus she might of been born in the Year of the Dragon like I was ,and consider them lucky.
I love those dragons!! What I don't like is nosy cementheaded christians.
She could so pull this off! Yes? https://metrouk2.files.wordpress.com/2015/04/got504_100214_hs_dsc_9453-e1429547806507.jpg?w=620&h=834&crop=1
Load More Replies...The "only marginally acceptable at Halloween" obviously means that they're jealous that they don't have a dragon army of their own.
At least this loony isn't like my nutjob Concrete Christian roommate, who claims Halloween is the devil's birthday and true christians shouldn't celebrate it because it honors the devil. She has other nasty habits, too.

Yes, I find that generally when someone cites "all of us"...it's just them. My bat-c**p crazy former landlord did this quite a bit.
Totally understand that Neighbour's Complaint! Of course, THREE Dragons can Only be considered "Marginally Acceptable at Halloween"! Look, you have a Big Yard, Trees, and so much Roof Space for ... maybe ... Thirteen or even Thirty Dragons! Please Do NOT Stop your Imagination & Creativity. Keep UP with the Spirit! omg such a fuss over decorations, unreal the neighbors are! I think I'd put a spotlight on them!
Display needs a Danny, a John and a Dire Wolf as well. Then give them Santa Hats and a "Christmas Is Coming!" sign.
I don't decorate, but I would if I could get my hands on some of those dragons.
LOVE these dragons. Mickey Mouse has no business in the holidays but Disney is everywhere. Love lights? Put up lights! I would LOVE for the lights to be up all year. Better than a boom car, more fun than dark scary streets!
Dragons are way cooler than Mickey Mouse anyway

Load More Replies...This reminds me of someone house that I pass daily they have those huge skeleton things that are out at Halloween so they wrapped it in outdoor Xmas lights and put a Santa hat on it I wouldn't send a letter, mostly because they think my friend I stole their cat Story: So my friend and I walk to/from school together every day and one day I saw a cat, us being total cat people we ran over to pet it and saying things like "aw, it's so cute and fluffy" etc etc and the owner said "He's a boy and his name is Pumpkin" (we asked because I don't want to misgender it or say "cat" everytime we see him) and we continued petting him and a few weeks later when I was walking to school by myself the owner asked me if I saw Pumpkin and I said "Oh, this is my 1st time walking in a week my mom has been driving my friend and me before" and the lady said "Oh, well he's missing, I was wondering if you or your friend say anything" and I said oh, no sorry, I'll look for him though!"
My relative puts up a blow up Bart Simpson. I think the dragons are much better!
Maybe you need to make the dragons breath fire when ever a neighbor complains about them...lol
Not happy with this. There's supposed to be a Fire Dragon, an Iron Dragon, a Sky Dragon, a Shadow Dragon, and a White Dragon. If you're going to commit, get it right.
Let's have Tiamat sing carols in harmony with all five heads!
Load More Replies...Damn... this is why we can't have anything cool. because someone somewhere would be offended. My new Christmas scene will be Superman as Jesus and the Justice League as the 12 disciples.

So far I've had three drive bys declaring they loved it, and not a single nastygram.
I personally love the dragons and would love to know where to get either the blue or black one

Load More Replies...Well, I'm not a fan of huge plastic decorations any other time than Halloween (on Christmas I'd die for tons of lights but never use any plastic Santas and such) but the nerve this neighbour has to send her a letter this condescending! Unless she's gonna make me look at this until March, I say she can have whatever she wants for Christmas. I can think poorly of her choices or style but to tell her she has to change it for me, what a cconservative douchebag. I would only take such approach if she chose a giant spider decorations, because I am strongly arachnophobic and it would really give me hard time walking past that. Maybe the guy/woman is dragonophobic. Or just really a douche.

Has anybody asked the kids about how they feel about the dragons? Dragons are magical and mysterious to children so let's face it....Christmas is a magical time to them, just say'in!
There wasn't one; it was just suggested, as those blow-ups aren't cheap.

The reason Christians might be/are offended is because Satan is called a dragon. Revelation 12:1-17
The dragon is Biblical, after all. Read Job 41 and tell me otherwise! https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Job+41&version=NIV
I put sugar skull lights on my tree. Does that mean I did it wrong?
She should have a Damian 'jesus' and add a motion activated soundtrack of that music from The Omen.
Dear Ms. Rowland, you are a very pretty woman, inside and out. Do not let the dragon nay-sayers get you down!!! Do you gorgeous woman!
If ppl don't like it, put a christmas hat on it. It fixes everything.

Totally cool at Halloween. A little weird IMHO at Christmas but it is her yard and so really nobody's business but her own.
Ridiculous. When I think of Christmas, dragons don't really come to mind at all. I'm glad I don't have a neighbor like this. It honestly seems very childish and petty what she's doing with the dragon display. I do, however, think they are totally appropriate for Halloween.
She is an idiot, but who cares? I don't. If she wishes to ridicule the religious belief's of others. Let her, and if someone is terribly offended and harms her, so what! Free to offend, free to be offended. Just don't bother anyone if your house gets burned to the ground.
And it's people like you who give christians the bad nut-job name!
