I once went on a guided trip in mexico and out guide explained, that the maya used to hug this tree until they bled, to make some sort of blood sacrifice to the underworld :o

I was kind of freaked out by our Black Locust tree. I was cleaning up the front yard and heard this loud "pop" and then something went whizzing by my head. Yeah, the tree literally spit a pod off. It went about 75 feet down the road. Freakiest thing ever.

Those spikes say keep away.

Funny thing we have this trees in my country(i'm from the caribbean) and never knew what they were called, i used to cut off the thorns and make weapons with it when I was a kid
