Nasib Anak Dara Hayati

This photo series entitled “Nasib Anak Dara Hayati” is an interpretation of the song Kenang Daku Dalam Doamu by Tan Sri SM Salim. My niece happened to come home from visiting a friend during *Raya and she was wearing a traditional malay dress, baju Kebaya. Her look reminded me of the classic beauty of Malay girls back in the 60s.

*Raya (A celebratory occasion following a month of fasting, which is known as Ramadan. Hari Raya is Malay for “grand day of rejoicing”)

The song was about a story of a lonely girl after her boyfriend left for someone else. The mood and setting of my kampung (hometown) and the expression of my niece allowed me to capture the emotional aspects of the song perfectly.
