The Photography Session That Would Show You Why You Shouldn’t Go To The Zoo Anymore

On my last visit to Berlin, I took my camera with me.

I wanted to create a wild photography session, so I went to the Zoo which till then wasn’t an unusual place for me.

Little did I knew that this photography session would change my life for good.

Since the moment I’ve entered the gates, all I could see is suffer and pain.

The dark side of the zoo reveled for the first time.

I documented what I saw, and decided I would never go to the zoo again.

Zoos surely are a matter of discussion; the line between education and conservation on the one side and exhibition and force is thin sometimes. The photos, however, show nothing of this. With well arranged photos you could make the best living animals appear to be experiencing a nightmare and vice versa – pretty much as many people who show themselves on Instagram manage to look fabulous although they are just like you and me. Thus: stick to photography, but do not make it political unless you understand the background of what you want to raise awareness for.

I live in wales and it rains about 80% of the time and even my photographs are not that gloomy in colour, have these been washed out or filtered in some weird way?

Fishing for clicks here? I'm not the biggest supporter of zoos in general. But as I live in Berlin I went to the Zoo a couple of times. They treat their animals very well and keep them entertained. Plus they spent a lot of work and money for bigger and better places to live for the animals. The Zoo is even allowed to have two pandas. So please stop writing such nonsense.

There is nothin wrong with these. Monkeys try to be like goats and eat every thing, it is not a sign of decline.

I hate going to zoos and so I never go! I know they do important conservation work, but I just can't with the captivity. Can't even go to aquariums.

So desperately sad. Zoos can be a good thing. If they are built in such a way that there are NO CAGES and if the only animals there are rescues that cannot survive in the wild. This zoo is NOT a "zoo", it is a prison, and cruel and unusual punishment!
