I am Allen Shaw, a Berlin-based Indian artist, illustrator, and storyteller. I normally post fun stuff here but I feel it's important to share this series of work which in my humble capacity is an attempt to bring this sad story from a group of people who found themselves stranded in a poorly planned lockdown that was imposed in India. It left thousands of migrant workers on their own to deal with the loss of income, food shortages, and uncertainty about their future, the only choice was to take the long walk home. With no means of transportation, they traveled thousands of kilometers, mostly on foot, some of them perished on their way.

The lack of any substantial reporting by the mainstream media on this crisis prompted some of us artists, writers, and performing artists to start sharing our perspective towards this crisis on various social media platforms. Now that the year is coming towards an end and most of us long to hear positive stories, especially in the context of the current situation we find ourselves in, but I feel it's important to also share some of these stories, especially here on this platform.
