News About MS Paint’s Death Triggered Me To Dig Up The 250 Ms-Paintings I Made As A 16yo Kid 13 Years Ago
When I read that MS Paint is officially dead now, it made me look back at a time when I frantically drew on MS Paint every day on a mechanical mouse.
I drew with ms-paint from 2002 until 2008 and made 250 ms paintings in total. It filled my High school days with joy.
The digital paintings are a mixture between the vibrant fantasy I had as a young child, and the anxiety and heart aches of my teenage years.
I think the limited functionality of the software and limitations of drawing with a mechanical mouse where a good thing because it challenged my creativity.

Pretty sure everyone did that thing with the scribbling and the fill tool at one point in their young MSPaint life
You're REALLY creative these are all amazing. I don't know how you could do this in paint when I couldn't even draw a tree that looked like a tree 😂
Amazing! I loved many of the characters depicted, made me imagine their stories. Some of them also made me think of old adventure games, like Day of the Tentacle. :)
Thanks! It's funny that you say that! Because at the time I was actually very inspired by an old adventure game called 'Toonstruck'. The cartoonish style influenced the way I drew back then I think.
Load More Replies...Never liked Paint much, but this is really a weird and original use for it! I don't know how, but great work!
Thanks! I know what you mean. As soon as I got my hands on photoshop I switched immediately, but in before that, paint was the one and only.
Load More Replies...Thanks! Although I have to confess that I used the line tool a lot to draw curved lines 😅
Load More Replies...And this is before we had stylus' and Apple Pens.. the artwork is amazing :)
Man, I was always using paint as a kid! It was my go to program. Actually, I will admit I still used it from time to time in my museum graphics job (last year). Haha! I think they shouldn't get rid of it, but update it with more features. It's a good place to start for kids wanting to draw on the computer.
Thanks! Fortunately I am :). Doing a PhD in fine art in Tokyo now.
