Hello! Welcome to the deep innermost thoughts of my mothering experience. Sometimes serious, sometimes funny and hopefully occasionally relatable. Tell me it's not just me!

I started drawing these to keep my creativity alive while I was on maternity leave with my second child. It was a way to document my observations, my thoughts and the ridiculous things my kids did and said (because with the little sleep I was getting there was no way I would remember it all). It's now become a more public project with mums from all over the world nodding along and saying ‘me too’.

I hope these drawings bring a smile to other parents' faces and let everyone know that they aren’t alone.

"Take better care of myself" We always seem to put that on the back burner.

Which is why little kids should have pockets, and moms should remember to empty them at wash time. Oh, the things I found...

Don't forget documents, taxes and bank account managements. Those administrative things make me feel very much like an adult. Once I have to do these myself, I realised I took it for granted that my parents did it for us kids.

With the first baby, it's every "word" they utter, every new tooth, when you trim their nails, cut their hair...

I always locked the door. This has always been a line for me. I pee alone! Sometimes, with 4 girls in 5 years, it was the only quiet time I got all day! That 2 minutes of peace kept me going for another hour before I took another bathroom break.

Many parents quickly feel the need to protect their newborn child, but that is not the same thing as bonding and loving. Many parents (mothers especially) feel guilty if they don't experience this instant love rush, that they heard so much about, but it's totally normal. It can take time to bond and start having true and deep feelings of love for your baby and that's OK.

Leaving my son at daycare and he's be screaming, crying -- driving to work I'd have to pull the car over I'd be sobbing, call the daycare, "Oh, he stopped right after you left."

I believe, kids have too much saying nowadays and I don't think it makes them happier, rather the opposite. Stressed parents with too much to do, too much to live up to, etc., don't have the energy to take a conflict with their child. They already have a bad conscience, wondering if they are good enough parents, and so they don't want to see their child unsatisfied and unhappy, so instead they do anything to please their child, but I believe a child will feel more satisfied by strikly set boundaries.
