“She Only Makes One Face”: 50 Beloved Actors That These People Just Can’t Seem To Like
No matter how popular they are, most celebrities have haters, too. And actors are no exception. Beloved by many, they get on some people's nerves, sometimes for no apparent reason. But that's usually part of the deal of being famous.
One redditor became curious about what actors people hated, despite them being loved by many, too. They started a thread on the ‘Ask’ subreddit and netizens compiled quite an extensive list, some pointing out that 'hate' is quite a strong word, yet having no problem naming the actor. Scroll down to find their answers on the list below and feel free to let us know in the comments what actor you are not that fond of yourself.
On the list below, you will also find Bored Panda’s interview with Professor Emerita at Northwestern University’s Department of Theatre, Cindy Gold, who was kind enough to answer a few of our questions about acting and the role likability plays (pun intended) in regards to it.

Woody Alen.
M-Test24:
I'm 51 and I've always disliked him. I saw part of one of his movies when I was a kid and thought it was dumb as hell. I don't think he's smart, witty, or funny on any level. Finding out that he's a p*do is one of the least-surprising news items ever.
People assumed that he was the helpless harmless schlemiel he played in his early movies. Like him or not, he's not anything like that in real life.
Woody has made over 45 movies. Most of them have been good to great. There are very few directors who have made 10 good movies, let alone 45. He is a true auteur and his talent cannot be denied.
I met Woody Allen once many years ago during a business situation and tried to have a conversation with him. It was really weird. It was like he was there but not there - like he was physically there but his mind was somewhere in outer space.
Kardashian. Any one of them. Can they be considered actors?
I hate the entire grotesque bunch of them! Kim's mom PURPOSELY leaked Kim's Sex Tape and THAT is how that talentless bunch of infected scabs were birthed into our collective consciousness. On a happy note, I forgot what Kim's mom's name is! Please don't tell me, maybe I can fill that spot of grey matter with something worthy of remembering.
I think her name is Mattel. That's the one that churns out identical plastic figurines with no discernable use, isn't it?
Load More Replies...Appeals to the most stupid of people. Same people who voted for Trump. You know, those crazy MAGA infected animals.
Yep. The U.S is absolutely being held hostage to the demands of the least educated people in the population. Because of dumb TV, mega-corporations, an inadequate education system, ultra-processed food, and an antiquated voting system.
Load More Replies...She's a waste of space. Never watched a single episode of her reality show. Can also bet that I am missing absolutely nothing.
Their talent is making a ton of money for not being able to do anything at all.
I the phrase 'Stop making stupid people famous' came from so many people watching their show.

Tom Cruise.
MedievalFightClub:
I feel like he is insanely good at what he does. But I also feel like he’s an astoundingly insincere and uncaring person
Yes, he is insanely good at being Tom Cruise in every single movie.
I've always said he basically plays the same person in every movie.
Load More Replies...Nope. People choose cults that validate their beliefs. Cults don't transform people, they just give people the support they need to show their intolerance, racism, homophobia, etc.
Load More Replies...Multiple personal assistants and other staff have reported that he's violent and abusive in private.
I happened to visit an ice cream shop a month after Cruise, the employees were still talking about him putting 5K in a donation jar for a sick kid and leaving.
While that donation was certainly appreciated it isn't really as impressive as it sounds. Cruise's income is around $1,000,000 per week so that $5000 represents just 0.5% of his weekly income. That's the equivalent of a person who earns $1000 per week dropping $5 into the jar.
Load More Replies...People can have hundreds of reasons to dislike an actor—or any person, for that matter—some of which might not even make much sense. They might not like their hairstyle or clothing, which is often not even the actor’s choice, or have that “I dislike them but I don’t know why” feeling about them.
But some people have some valid reasons, too, such as terrible acting or being a terrible human outside—or even on—the set. As you will soon find out, people on this list pointed out quite a few different reasons, and many different actors, but according to an expert, likability shouldn’t be something representatives of this occupation should be primarily focused on.
All of them. Celebrity worship is f*****g weird.
This makes no sense. Celebrities entertain us. Some are idiots for sure, but without celebrities in the world, things would be a lot less interesting.
J Lo & Angelina Jolie.
JohnnieBrooklyn:
I'm kind of OK on Angelina Jolie, but never could figure out why J Lo was famous!
Long before the Kardashians came along, the media had a strange obsession with her backside
J Lo always seemed like the most basic, cheap celebrity with a massively oversized ego to me. Her music is basic and boring and very commercial, no interesting lyrics, just shallow surface-level club music designed specifically to make money. Her acting is blah. But she personally thinks she’s an amazing talent and a huge star, you can tell from that cringy movie she recently made about her (now failed) relationship with Ben Affleck. Huge ego but lacks the talent to back it up.
J- Lo is a horrible person. She is a terrible actress. She claims " I'm still Jenny from the block" . That's an absolute lie. She treats absolutely everyone like trash. There's a story about her and Ben going out to eat. He left a nice tip on the table and she went back and took all the money away. She's a Prima Donna who doesn't remember who put her where she is. She needs fans more than fans need her. There's plenty of other actresses and singers that people can use their money on instead of her . If she loses them ,then what is she?
Can't act and can't sing. Treats underlings like garbage. What's not to love her?
Angelina is a terrible actress and I can't name one good movie she stars in.
I totally agree but I was pleasantly surprised by how good the series, Shades of Blue, with JLo and Ray Liotta was. Very good series, surprisingly good acting by JLo.
In an interview with Bored Panda, Professor Emerita at Northwestern University’s Department of Theatre, Cindy Gold, noted that likability isn’t something an actor, especially a young one, should focus on.
“As an actor and teacher of acting for over 40 years, I can’t say I’ve ever taught or thought much about an actor’s likability. We just don’t focus on such an ineffable quality, and I think it could be somewhat damaging for a young actor to even think about it,” she said.
“That being said, there are some actors who walk into a room and are immediately disliked, or misunderstood, by auditors and directors. We, as teachers, try to get the students to understand that there’s almost nothing they can do to correct that at the moment. If one tries to ‘be likable,’ we can usually sniff out a fake. As actors, all we can do is prepare really thoroughly, be on time, and work hard.”
James Corden.
morecrimeplease:
We don’t want him back here. god he’s so up his own arse
I liked his carpool karaoke & musicals though.. James has a nice voice
I really don't think that "everybody else loves him". Most people seem to dislike him. And for good reasons.
I found it hilarious when the late late show was taken off the air for a 10+ year old comedian talk show
When his show first started I couldn't figure out why they'd given him a show or who he was. Guess I never did really figure that out.
Load More Replies...Amber Heard. Her performance “My dog stepped on a bee *awfull face*”, is by far the worst acting.
Never since any of her movies. Never will. Heard she treats underlings like dog s**t.
How in God's name was she legally allowed to adopt a child after that?!
ah yes, the woman who s**t in someone's bed and tried to blame it on the dog is the victim. The one caught on tape refusing a man who needs medication his meds, also caught on tape admitting to hitting him, is the victim. The one who had previously, several years ago in 2016 withdrew allegations and the request for a restraining order against depp and admitted "“There was never an intent of physical or emotional harm” (meaning she admitted depp wasnt abusive) was the victim? I'm not saying Depp is a perfect man, he isn't, d***s and alcohol made him a s****y person sometimes (though he's also done a LOT of good, especially for kids charities etc in the character of jack sparrow and such) but Amber Heard was 100% riding the "metoo" moment of the time. They were a toxic couple and Amber is a liar. get over it.
Load More Replies...Mel Gibson. Twat.
Sexist, racist, and homophobic. Add anything else as well. Will still do movies but he's damaged goods. None of his work has made any money which is a death call to Hollywood. Not well like in Hollywood despite what his PR people put out.
I won't argue about the first three of your sentences, but "none of his work has made any money"??? Have you totally missed the Lethal Weapon franchise or Passion of the Christ just to name several hundred million dollars worth????
Load More Replies...He was a talented actor, back in the day. But, yeah, all the personal stuff got weird.
Anti-semitic as well. His drunken rant about Jews was horrible and his apology was worse. People don't say things they don't believe when they're intoxicated, they're just uninhibited enough to say what they really feel/believe.
He has grown on me ... like a fungus. Seemed ok in his first couple of movies but has trending strongly to not good from then on.
“Be that as it may, our industry does spawn some narcissists,” Prof. Gold continued. “Sometimes, there’s a rumor about an actor that they are ‘difficult’ or ‘high maintenance.’ And that rumor, whether true or not, can be harmful.
“I certainly would avoid directing an actor with that kind of reputation. And I have had situations where a cast member was difficult and it does make the process far less fun. In a VERY few cases, if I knew they were going to be a part of the cast in advance, I’d think hard about whether I want to work again with them.”
Kristen Stewart! She can only act morose.
Never really liked her, but she was awesome in Hot Ones. She's kinda cool, but most of her roles don't fit her.
I liked her in the movie, Seberg. She had a pixie cut in the movie and I thought she looked fantastic.
Load More Replies...Again, Hollywood doesn't know what to do with her. It takes a special script for her to shine. That hasn't happened in a long time. Don't expect much from her in the coming years as she ages out.
Will Smith.
extragreensauce:
Used to love him. I liked Wild Wild West, but the rest of society hated that movie, 3/4 of MIB were amazing, Independence Day 1 was great, etc ...
His toxic relationship with Jada is really f**king up his whole life and career. I think he still has potential if he gets away from her.
I used to love and support his work since childhood but it came crashing down just like finding out about Bill Cosby… Just makes me sad & disappointed when I hear about him now.
Since his slap and the weird way he sort of apologized, and his s**t not stinking, doesn't appeal to me at all.
Being married to that woman destroyed him years ago. His acting went down hill a long time ago and so did he.
He had some early career success but has put out bomb after bomb and his shtick got old real fast.
Adam Sandler and Will Ferrell. I just can't stand watching movies with either of them.
Adam Sandler: if I was stuck on a desert island with him, I'd jump off the next cliff and swim away.
I've heard that he's a really nice guy and a supportive friend. It seems to me that he just found a niche that makes a lot of money and is taking advantage of it.
I've read that people work for him in part because he's easy-going. If the movie lacks prestige, the work is still a pleasant paycheque in an unstable field.
Load More Replies...I don't like comedians at all. It is always the same s**t in repetition. Adam Sandlers last movie Spaceman wasn't so bad albeit strange.
What kind of sociopath doesn't like comedies? You f***ing weirdo.
Load More Replies...Discussing what makes an actor likable, the expert suggested that they should be conscientious, hardworking, giving, clean, and kind. They should also look you in the eye on stage and in the dressing room, and be on time.
“An actor should work hard on their craft, be a good person, and try to make rehearsal and performance fun, not just for themselves, but for all of us,” Prof. Gold told Bored Panda.
As for how to regain popularity after it is lost, she admitted to not having an answer. “I will likely never see another Mel Gibson movie, if I can avoid it,” she added.
Will Ferrell.
ChaoticGoodMrdrHobo:
I loved him in “Stranger Than Fiction”, but other then that can’t stand him in anything I’ve seen him in. The man has talent, but I’m not into his kind of humor.
Did a lot of "adult's acting like kids" movies which became annoying real quick.
I like him when he plays the sensitive straight man (straight as in everyone else is being whacky while he reacts to the whackiness like a normal person). When he's trying to be the whacky character with all the yelling and whatnot, he loses me.
Right. Will Ferrell movies are fine if you avoid the comedies.
Load More Replies...He just did a road trip documentary with his friend who transitioned to female called Will and Harper. Very touching. Worth a watch. He seems like a genuinely decent human being.
Omg, that was an awesome performance! "Oh, you're a villain all right, just not a super one!" "Yeah? What's the difference?" "Pre-sen-tation!"
Load More Replies...Not a big fan of his during the SNL days, but he has made some great movies and continues to put out quality work.
Jim Carrey.. He gives me the creeps.
Opposite for me, he's pretty good. I like both his drama and comic performances.
You all are probably too young but he was around longer than you think. I saw him when he was on " In Living Color" on TV. He got boring afterwhile to me.
I liked "Ordinary People." I didn't see it until he was famous & was surprised he did a good job.
Load More Replies...One of the most unlikeables, but ... The Truman Show and The Mask were both brilliant and would not have been without him.
The Mask was just idiotic. It just seemed like Jim Carrey on speed.
Load More Replies...Only film of his I’ve ever watched was Liar, Liar, on a flight before there were media options & it was grueling. I avoided all the funny face films of his in my 20s because I was too busy with school. Now I’m glad I did. Creep.

He was great in Dallas Buyers Club, that Oscar was very well deserved.

Hate is such a strong word, Kevin Hart.
EDIT 1: oh my glob I thought I was about to start trouble by saying his name. Glad to know I’m not alone! I just don’t find him funny in movies, Night School was overhyped.
baconredditor:
“I’m short, I’m black, and I’m loud” comedy formula doesn’t work for you?!
Don't find him funny. Jumps around a lot like he has ants in his pants. Certainly can't act.
Oh, and he admitted to domestic abuse in his autobiography.
Load More Replies...I recently watched Fight Night, and Hart is actually surprisingly good in that - it’s the first time I’ve EVER enjoyed his performance, and he absolutely does not play Kevin Hart, he’s actually ACTING in this show, and it’s pretty good. In every other show/movie, however, he’s kind of c**p 😂 not my cup of tea
He seems to me like a man with an angry face who says funny things. It confuses me and makes me uneasy.
Like Will, same character every movie. I like him, but he needs to branch out. But I guess I would stay the same if I made his money.
He tried doing some serious movie. I don't really cared for it, but...he actually makes me laugh. So, to me it's fine if he doesn't change the pattern.

There is something endearing about Pete, I find. Maybe because he's open about his flaws? I liked him in King of Staten Island.
The only thing I've seen him in was The Rookie, and while I was expecting to dislike him, I thought he did okay.
Load More Replies...I like him. He's very nice and he's funny and he is so vocal about mental health. People hate him because he gets hot girls. Being kind and funny is sexy.
Well, rumor has it he's hung like a horse, so maybe that answers that question.
Looks like he smokes pot 24/7. Not the brightest person. Too high drama to be a reliable friend. Can't act and isn't funny. Other than that I'd share a malted with him.
You sound very jealous that a "dumb pothead" has so many friends and scores hot women.

I met him on a more private party and he's easily one of the funniest and smartest guys I've ever met. Not my cup of tea but definitely understand how women are so attracted to him.
His popularity is because he so flawed, and he knows it. He actually embraces it. I think he's so-so and can be funny at times, but a lot of people love that broken-man-I-can-fix-him type of guy.
I don't think this is the article for you, buddy.

Chris Rock. I don't hate him, I just don't think his standup is funny. He's just telling stories while yelling.
I've never cared for his comedy, but damn the man can act. If you haven't seen it already, watch "Nurse Betty." He holds his own with Morgan Freeman & Renee Zeilweiger (which I've probably misspelled...)
His recent stuff is not great, but he has put out some of the funniest s**t ever in his time. His stand up about tossing salads is legendary.
Owen Wilson
That soft spoken monologue that he does in every role is infuriating.
True! I can't stand him in most things but his performance in Loki made me see him in a different light!

The late night talk show where she surprise off script kissed an actor cause he was hot, then threatened to fire her crew because they noted she'd sexually harassed him was pretty rough.
Also, she (among other people) ruined Velma. Not that there would've been anything to save, but still.
I don't think she 'ruined' Velma, she gave a terrible rendition of Velma. Velma is fine, she will be played by better actors in the future. She isn't good enough to ruin anything but her own performances.
Load More Replies...She's awful. That and she ruined a beloved franchise by making an awful show that everyone hates. Shockingly in a world of division this is the 1 thing EVERYONE came together and agreed on. Lol

Ben Affleck should have just been some middle manager at a car company.
He’s proved to be very talented behind the scenes - directing, producing & writing, so maybe that’s where he belongs.
Ben Affleck isn't a bad actor though....Gone Girl, Good Will Hunting, The Accountant...he's pretty good, maybe not the best but he's not bad.
I don't think people are denying he's a decent actor, but he's just so...forgettable. All of the movies you listed were wonderful, but is Ben really a great actor, or was he an ok actor in some really fantastic movies? I think he does some amazing work behind the camera though.
Load More Replies...Was just thinking of Dogma after the Chris Rock comment. One of my favourite movies.
Load More Replies...He played an excellent adult with Autism Spectrum Disorder in The Accountant.
Jada. Yeah, I know it was Will who slapped Chris Rock but the slap wouldn't have happened if Jada would have a sense of humor instead of being so uptight.
Wil should not have slapped Chris, but Chris should not have mocked Jada for having a disease. Why *should* she have a sense of humor about that?
Chris never mentioning her "disease", he actually complimented her when he said she'd play a good G.I. Jane in a movie.
Load More Replies...Or maybe, Chris shouldn't have mocked someone with a disease. Alopecia can come on suddenly in life, and can be really detrimental to a persons wellbeing and how they feel about themselves. I don't think it's right to joke about, even if Jada does seem confident on the surface about it. (I lost my hair with my chemo treatment, it's only just starting to come back as baby fuzz... on the surface I've not been too bothered but deep down it affects me more than I let on. hell, even the fact it's coming back mousy blonde instead of my former red headedness bothers me greatly...)
I really hope that means you are through the toughest part of your treatment and are doing well. You may not love the mousy blonde, and that's fair. But if those fuzzes represent a battle hard fought, I hope you find a way to love every last one--even if that love comes with some dye here and there 😉.
Load More Replies...I appear to be the only person in the universe who is perfectly fine with the fact that Will Smith slapped Chris Rock. Whether or not Rock knew about Jada's disease, you can assume she got dressed up and felt she looked nice for the Oscars. She was not the guest of honour at a roast. Rock decided to humiliate her, and Will Smith humiliated him back. It's not like he punched his teeth out: he bitchslapped him.
I'm not a fan of Will Smith, Jada and Chris Rock and yes Smith should have reigned himself in but I don't understand why he is the only villain. The Chris Rock "jokes" were pretty lame and inappropriate.
Disliked her long before the slap. Not sure who ruined whom in regards to Wil & Jada. Scientology ruins people too but you have to be some kind of stupid to go that route anyway if you pay attention to how it came about.
stop blaming someone else for that psycho will's actions, both people can be awful in a marriage

I think I'm the only person who loves her.For as long as I can remember, I've always found conversations online where people talk about how much they dislike her or think she's unattractive. I love her as Rachel, she seems to be a pretty chill person off screen, and I think she's beautiful. I've adored her since Friends first aired.
I love her! She was my favorite Friends actress, she handled a humiliating time of her life with grace, she seems warm and friendly and she can be funny as hell.

Joy Behar!!!
She's a washed-up has been of a "comedienne" who has grown too big for her own britches and steamrolls anyone who DARES to disagree with her about literally ANYTHING and publicly shames them on her stupid show with the rest of the self-important mean girls.

Load More Replies...He’s quite a good director—I cannot wait for the next season of Severance
Permanent Midnight, the story of Jerry Stahl set while he was writing Alf, was an excellent adaptation of the book.
Phenomenal in Keeping the Faith, but I've never liked him in anything else.
Disagree. He is also brilliant behind the camera. Eagerly awaiting the second season of Severance
I liked the Museum movies, I don't think I've watched many things he's been in other than those. He's probably in supporting roles in other movies I've seen but I honestly don't remember him in them. At least he isn't all-in on whining out every line he speaks like sinefeld. Can't stand that guy.
Seth Rogan. His laugh and voice are borderline unbearable.
As an actor, I don't have an opinion, but I love that he cut James Franco immediately when Franco was accused of sexual explotation and misconduct eventhough they were best friends.
Some range; I like him. But again Hollywood really doesn't do enough movies for actors like him.
"Hehe..weeedddd...hehe"...there that's his entire script for any movie. He was alright in 50-50 but I feel like they also went down the same road in some parts of that movie but who I am to say, he's made tons of money from it so it seems to work. (Honorable mention to Freaks and Greeks, that was good).
He's an excellent writer. Pineapple Express was of a quality undeserved for a simple comedy. The shear subtlety of some of the best lines, some of which can only be heard in the background of the scene. It's a master class if you're paying close attention.
I love Seth Rogan. Genuinely decent guy. So strange that I like most of the comedic actors/directors on this list. Suddenly feeling very self-conscious of my comedy preferences. Also, loved Rogan in the Guilt Trip with Barbra Streisand. That one hit really close to home with my relationship with my own mother.
My husband hates Vince Vaughn. No rhyme or reason. Just hates him.
A celebrity I don't care for is Demi Lovato. *Demi gives me the ick.
Edit: she/they to Demi.
Vince Vaughn is in the same category as a lot of the other "can only do one thing" which is quick fast confusing script and pepper in some punchline jokes to make him seem funny. Other than that...nada.
Vince is over exposed, but he was HILARIOUS in Be Cool with John Travolta playing a pimp wannabe. And so was Andre 3000 surprisingly!
Omg, I haven't thought about that movie in ages! Definitely going to need to to a Get Shorty/ Be Cool rewatch soon

The Rock.
MotorolaRzr:
He's not a bad actor...he's just a one trick pony. And he's the wrong casting choice sometimes, yet he's in everything. He was especially out of place in jungle cruise and red notice. There are other actors!
The Rock co-produces his films so they're mostly ego driven duds. It feels like he sold the same movie pitch to each big streaming service so now we have Jungle Cruise on Disney+, Red Notice on Netflix, and now Red One which was originally made for HBO Max.
He made a couple of good movies here and there then he pigeon holed himself into a certain cut and paste role. He should take a break from Hollywood. Fortunately he has a safety net because he's on the board of TKO which is the parent company of WWE. He can slip right back in considering a large number of his family members are now popular members on the main roster both males and female. The Bloodline storyline has all but a few members of his family members in it. He's already part of that storyline and it's been shown. Also more family members are on the way to WWE anyway. Give Hollywood a break and come back to WWE where at least if he's in a certain role for now ,when they change it people will be happy and accept him more. Cut and paste in WWE is different than Hollywood. Notice Batista is way more successful in Hollywood because he makes an effort to try more roles. He's not stuck in the same way.
Read somewhere recently and it's true, that if the Rock is in a movie you can guarantee that it's not a very deep movie.
But who goes to the cinema to see a deep movie?

Zendaya. im so tired of seeing her everywhere. it’s not that she’s not talented but she certainly is overrated.
Does she has zero range, or is she only offered roles with the same character type ?
Load More Replies...Guys, please stop trying to be edgy with the "who?" You f-ing know who she is, stop edgelording, it's pathetic
I've only ever seen her in one of the recent Spider-Man movies, but she definitely pulled her weight in it.
She's only just getting started. This is going to continue for a couple decades
Where the f*ck do these untalented ' artists ' come from? Thoroughly unremarkable; a face in the crowd. This is the PC face H'wood. banks on.
She is only an ok actress, but i don't understand how people think she is so attractive. She is not.
Priyanka Chopra - saw one movie of her's and found her so insufferable and now I can't really watch anything she's in.
Gorgeous to look at. Not much anything else. Looks fab in designer clothes.
Matthew McConaughey. He gives me that creepy southern Christian pastor vibe. *shiver.
He's okay. Depends on the role he takes. He's done some good movies.
True Detective - the first season. He went quite deep into the role.
Load More Replies...Anytime someone does a "which celebs are nice/awful in real life" they all say Mcconaughey is nice, but he genuinely sets off my creep radar. He was great in True Detective, partly because his character was a bit of a creep, but yeah, something about him gets my hackles up - really weird vibes from the guy (watch the interview he did with Graham Norton during covid, even when he's himself he's just f**king weird)
He's actually incredibly nice and incredibly gracious in person. His wife is also very sweet.
Load More Replies...Only movie I liked him in was almost 30 years ago. A Time to Kill with Samuel Jackson. He was great in that movie.
Yes! I loved that movie, and he was good in it. It was before he became a joke..

Let's just say not everybody loves Raymond.
legoshi_loyalty:
He was really really good in Paddleton, because it was a good indie movie, but I get the impression he's not the nicest fellow.
My Dad worked with a former coworker of his, who said he was an incredibly nice guy and that he really is the guy Everybody Loves Raymond makes him out to be.
Yall remember the shows “Everybody Loves Raymond” and “Everybody Hates Chris?” Guess what my brothers’ names are 😂
One Time I started to watch Everybody Loves Raymond then realize there is no respect in that show. Everyone was putting everyone down. Quit watching it and will never watch that show again.
Most stand-up comics who go into features are never what they seem. He's no different. If you meet him, he can be moody or your best friend.
Timothée Chalamet. Don't know why.
Horrendously overrated, overexposed and I also don't understand how is he, like, the world's #1 sexyman when he constantly looks five seconds away from dying.
LOL! Too true. Someone feed that poor boy a sandwich (or 6)!!! He looks like a mop w/a wig.

Kevin Costner. The talent of a block of wood.
I was deeply inlove with Kevin Costner in my pre-teens. I was so inlove with him I made a magazinestand with this initials burned into the sides and a huge heart. I owned all his movies and I planned to marry him. Well... I now see that he kinda looks like my dad... dont know what to say about that... my (real) husband laughs his head off every time he sees that magazinestand (yes, my parents refuse to throw it away and still uses it).
The question is does your husband look like Kevin Costner or your dad?
Load More Replies...He has made a few bombs, but also a few great movies. Dances with Wolves may be a top 10 all time.
I was surprised at how good he was in A Perfect World, but that role was kinda written for a wooden block...
I think if he WEREN'T in charge of the movies he's in and they hired an actual Film Editor who can professionally edit a film, he's good! Unfortunately, he cannot edit out a twenty-minute-long, staring out over the scenery clip. He seems to think if it went on film it HAS to be in the movie! The man simply cannot edit!
Nicole Kidman - I am so tired of seeing her in everything and that bizarre pda she does with her husband EVERY time they are on the red carpet is gross and so suspect.
I don’t even know the last time I saw Nicole Kidman in anything, let alone “everything”
Taylor Sheridan's Lioness, The Perfect Couple, Baby girl, A family Affair and Expats just in 2024, with 17 acting credits since 2019, eight of which have been TV shows or mini-series. It took me a solid 10 minutes to recognize her in Lioness due to the IMMENSE amount of botox, fillers and other surgery she's had done in the past few years.
Load More Replies...Great actress; does streaming since Hollywood doesn't do as many good movies or offer good roles for her to do.
The Others was really great and she definitely played her part in it.
Load More Replies...Was great once, now just another victim of "the plastic fantastic" face. Sad, really.
The Perfect Couple was excellent. She starred and was one of the executive producers.
Adam DeVine. I wouldn't say hate, but I certainly dislike his characters and there's something about his face that gets me riled up and not in the good way ;'].
Lol I kinda get it...my thing with him is that he's usually in movies where the script falls flat halfway through.
I liked his character in MOdern Family, but yeah I think every other role he's been in has just been the worst human
Never heard of this one, so I checked IMDB. 250 credits! I have to have seen ONE of them!...nope. We'll, I have some movies to track down this weekend...
Leonardo DiCaprio just so over rated.
No, just no. Think whatever you want about the man but as an actor he’s one of the best ever.
I have to agree with the "No" votes here. You are certainly "allowed" to not like him but he is a quite quite good actor. Go watch "What's eating Gilbert Grape". He was exceptional in that movie (as was Johnny Depp in one of his understated roles).
I find him hit and miss. I liked him very much in Gilbert Grape, and enjoyed him in Catch Me if You Can and in Wolf of Wall Street. Didn't care for his frowning and not frowning in some other films, such as Shutter Island and Inception. I generally like him in more physical roles, where he can use his entire body instead of just his face.
Load More Replies...What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? He was so young in that movie, but so amazing in it!
He was a child actor, one of the lucky ones who didn't end up destroying themselves. Saw him on " Growing Pains" on TV . He's okay I guess . Not a favorite. I don't get excited about him. He's just booorrrinnng!
I think he's a decent actor, I just find him annoying. Don't know why.
Going to have to disagree here. Dude has buckets of talent and has done some very serious roles proud.
Lady GaGa.
I’m sorry.. but BC carried A Star is Born and it still sucked.
From interviews I've seen, she seems like a great person. I wish nothing but the best for her.
I've only heard a couple of her songs, but she was great as a guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance. She seemed to take it seriously and was very engaged and didn't show off. Seemed to really care about the contestants.
Load More Replies...I loooove the clips of her performing with Tony Bennett.
Load More Replies...I like her bunches. I like her music and I like that she fights for social justice for so many throwaway LGBTQ+ kids. She may not be the best actress in the world, but she's solid in my book both as an entertainer and a good human.
eh.... I think if given the right kind of script etc, she could do better in her acting because undoubtedly, she IS one hell of a performer and incredibly creative. I hear she's been chosen to play a part in Wednesday Season 2, so I'm curious how Tim Burton will work with her.... they're both rather.... "cooky" to say the least. But I'm a lil monster and have been since "Just Dance" so I am a little biased.
It's just not a good movie or good roles for any of the cast. I don't know why A Star is Born was even remade.
That version is the 3rd (i think) remake of that movie
Load More Replies...Personally I find her to be an exceptional singer and a very concerned person. Just not great at choosing good roles.
I'd never listened to her music but I definitely got very teary eyed when she first stepped to the mic in A Star Is Born. Barbra Streisand never did that to me.
Katherine Heigl…I don’t hate her - her vibe is off.
Yeah they crushed her career because she stood up for what she’s worth! She is an incredible actor!!
No. She wasn't "standing up for what she's worth" she publically s**t all over anyone who gave her an opportunity. When nominated for an emmy on Gray's Anatomy she removed her name from consideration and made a public statement explaining that "i don't feel i deserve this, the writing on the show and the writing for my character don't merit an award" Meaning "writers suck, but not "my" fault. While on the press tour for "Knocked Up" she kept repeating how "sexist" the movie was and how terrible all the female characters were, and just intimating that it was a "bad" movie and bad experience to make. Ya know, cause she's already been paid so what does she care about ANYONE else involved? Add to that she had a psychotic "stage" mom that terrorized everyone for years, and mommy's behavior rubbed off on her in the worst way. No one wanted to work with her....because of HER, her terrible behavior, and over-inflated ego. She did it to herself.
Load More Replies...Sorry but when you bad mouth your own movies and TV shows, you can't expect much of a future. Maybe she's Rachel Zegler's manager and taught her how to market herself and ALL her movies. After all Rachel Zegler acted like that even before Snow White.
I think this one is the result of a lot of sexism that got her blacklisted for speaking out. She stood up for herself and he coworkers and that got her labelled "difficult". I was also on the Heigl Hate Wagon for a long time, til I saw what actually happened and not just the "she's a b*tch" spin
She was hit hard by the Farrah Fawcett syndrome. She stood up for herself and they blackballed her.
I hear she's kind of a mean diva and can be really hard to work with.
Hollywood wrote her off years ago. Isn't forwarded scripts because no one wants to work with her.
Tony Danza. He is a no talent, loud mouth, who has not been able to get any kind of hit in over 30 years.
Are there people out there, still thinking about Tony Danza's career? Tony Danza forgot Tony Danza existed.
No acting range. Plays his "Taxi" character in everything he does. An entertainer but not an actor.
Scarlet Johansson. She only makes one face.
Yep. Don't understand how so many people like her. She was ok in the Avengers though.
I liked her in Ghost World (but Thora Birch was better)
Load More Replies...I totally loved her in Jojo Rabbit though. She played a great part in that
I liked her in her younger movies. She was kind of a different actor then. Her hair was a bit darker and she had the cutest little snaggletooth. Then she got the "hollywood" treatment after "Girl with a Pearl Earring" and I think moving forward from there she was the token hot girl. It's not that she can't act, but she's an "indie" actor in "blockbuster" movies.
Jennifer Lawrence. I don't think she's as funny as people find her.
Do people find Jennifer Lawrence funny? She isn't a comedian and hasn't been in any overty comedic films that I can think of. Isn't she considered to be a little overly serious?
Agreed, but she DID do a rom-com in the past couple years whose name is now escaping me.[checks IMDB] No Hard Feelings.
Load More Replies...She may not be funny to you but watch her on talk shows, she's quick with her responses and pretty natural there. She's a pretty good actor too.
Jennifer Lawrence certainly comes off as "quirky" and sometimes in a less than flattering way. But she is able to make good natured fun of herself (always a positive for a "celebrity") and has had a sufficiently wide variety of roles to not be annoying in a too limited sort of way. Unfortunately, I can easily understand why she might not be liked.
The Poker House. Winter's Bone. Red Sparrow. American Hustle. Not much of a comedic actor, she is better in dramas.
Really good actress I feel. But it takes a really good script and a really good director to stir her into the right direction. And a combo like that is hard to come by except for A list actors.
If you can, watch her in "Winter's Bone" 2010 film, then you will realise what the JL fuss is about. Great actor, not so great choices.
Load More Replies...Jack Black. I try to like him. Everyone else seems to think he's lovely.
So does one of my neighbours. I never point it out, but I do think it. :)
Load More Replies...Can't stand him in adult-focused movies... but put him in kids fare and it works. House with a Clock in its Walls was awesome.
I can't watch the guy. He has to be "on" all the time and is really annoying. If he could calm down and act, it would help.
He grew that awful beard which alienated much of the public. His latest movie tanked big time in the box office. Can redeem himself if cast in supporting roles...and shave off that awful beard.
I sincerely don't think most people give a hoot about the beard?

Johnny Depp. He's basically played the same character for years, whether it's a kooky pirate captain or a kooky candy maker or a kooky native American sidekick. He also does cologne ads despite looking like his natural scent is cigarette butt soaked in sour wine.
Cannot disagree more. Yes, a lot of his roles are kooky, but he plays such a fun variety of kooky roles! And does it damn well - he is so enjoyable to watch. You can see his immense talent in more of the earlier roles (pre Burton). I had blacklisted him for ages due to the animal smuggling incident, but not that more has been revealed about his relationship with Heard, I feel a bit more forgiving. But, again, I don’t really care about him as a person (because I don’t have to live or work with him) - I care about him as an actor and, man, is he and enjoyable actor.
Very true. And even though his main big thing in the last several years has been the pirate thing, I don't think anyone else could have played that role like he did.
Load More Replies...He was good in Burton's prime, then Tim Burton got stuck in being quirky (and mainstream), but I want to edit all his 'Sauvage' cologne ads to read 'douche'.
In the UK it's quite common for the Sauvage adverts in the High Streets to be changed to Sausage and it always makes me chuckle!
Load More Replies...I'm definitely older than A LOT of you on here. He started out on a TV show. The original 21 Jump Street and IT WASN'T A COMEDY! They ruined it by turning it into a comedy on the big screen. Anyway.. he's done some good movies. Not all were Burton movies either. He's just more well known by certain people for Burton and Pirates movies vs others. He's just someone who always picked and chose his roles differently than others. I can't say he always made good choice in everything. He did pick a few lemons in the past here and there. Let's be real, does every single movie an actor stars in succeed?
I like jump streets to be honest but the depp reveal in the movie was amazing
Load More Replies...yea his recent depictions have been somewhat consistently familiar. But I do love him in other things like Donnie Brasco, Snow, etc...older films where he wasn't eccentric
yea.. i feel like whilst Jack Sparrow is one of his greatest characters to many (and I love him myself, Pirates was always a favourite of mine growing up) he kind of left behind his better roles after that, and kind of just became a version of Jack Sparrow in almost everything.
There's was brief period where Mr Depp was good (think Donnie Brasco), but then he just became this Tim Buton creation somewhere along the way ("ooh look at me. Aren't I weird and unconventional?")
He's such a phenomenal actor, but I have to agree, he's been stuck in a Pirates/Burton loop for a while. I think he needs a palate cleanser. Sorry, I'm dying over the "Savage" thing. 🤣
I am going to get a lot of s**t for saying this and hate is not the word I would use but… Ryan Reynolds. I feel like he plays the same personality in everything and he isn’t very attractive. Now, if that was that in itself it’s fine because I don’t think he is horrible or ugly but the whole movement of people making him out to be the best and sexiest person I think is what bugs me more than just him being him. I’m a straight man but if people were going crazy like this over Henry cavil or maybe Bradley Cooper, Chris hemsworth then I think I would understand it more.
Downvote me all you want but I like Ryan Reynolds. I also like that he fought Disney to keep the characters in the movies true to who they were and not sell out . He wrote ALL the Deadpool movies and listens to the fans. He's still fighting for the fans after Disney broke their promise to him , they need him for the Mutant saga. He's fighting to keep characters true to who they are for the fans and not changing anything to check boxes, making it a hill to die on. He and Hugh Jackman were promised money and that Marvel projects would stay true to source material and Iger turned around and put some ofmoney towards DEI made Disney movies instead and are giving Ryan and Hugh difficulty by trying to change things in future projects including Deadpool and Wolverine. They can't recast their money maker . THEIR ONLY MARVEL MONEY MAKER. Fans would walk away from anything Deadpool if they recast. Ryan loves the fans. He appreciates his fans. He doesn't let fame go to his head
Ryan is starting to become slightly annoying with his constant Ryan-ness. We just need a break from him.
True, never really understood why he is so famous, same face expression every time and the movie is usually about bradley cooper and nothing else. Ryan Reynolds on the other hand is at least entertaining and i think that is what an actor is supposed to be
Load More Replies...Ryan needs to do some more serious movies like "Buried", as a relief from his comedic roles and to remind people of his range.
Agreed. But I have a different take because I know him as previously being a bit more serious of an actor. When he's not doing his "Ryan Reynolds shtick," he can actually act his a*s off, but that sometimes gets overshadowed because people have the expectation that he's funny. I love his sense of humor, but I do understand it can be a bit much sometimes.
Load More Replies...Well, he's a pretty good actor. I don't find him extremely handsome, but he look fine..
Sandra Bullock. Probably a nice woman but I f*****g hate her face, voice and acting.
I like her. Yeah, she's probably doesn't have the widest range as an actor, but there's something about her I've always found endearing.
My brain went straight to Miss Congeniality when OP said they hate her face. Her face??? She's adorable. Another one I love is Two Weeks Notice.
Load More Replies...I dunno, I kind of like her. I do think she frequently gets the same role over and over, and that's tiresome. But I like her.
An irrelevant dinosaur named Jane Fonda.
Do people not know what an amazing actress she is?! “They Shoot Horses, Don’t They” is an amazing film and her performance is astonishing. In the 1970s and ‘80s, she was quite a force.
Sounds like someone who knows nothing of her history or films from before 2020.
Tom Hanks, something about the guy just rubs me the wrong way. I can't really describe it but it's kinda like watching him gives the same feeling as being home alone in the dark and hearing a noise down the hallway.
Edit- rearranged wording slightly.
I mean, you are entitled to your opinion, of course….but, dude, TOM HANKS?!
Disagree. I'm older and saw his start on tv. OK his 1st movie Bachelor Party was an absolute dumpster fire but you have to start somewhere and he had to work lousy material. Other than that I believe that he has done some good movies and has range and hasn't pigeon holed himself into just one genre of movie
Bachelor Party was the first movie i saw him in, I thought it was a funny movie and I really liked him in it. Great actor and seems to be a wonderful person.

The vast majority of Hollywood stars have limited range. They can play one part. It usually comes down to whether you enjoy that one character or not.
Actually, once they get a successful role, they are only offered the same role--typecast! They also get big money only for playing that role. I don't condemn them for taking the money--I'd probably do the same. I have also seen big actors in small roles that are terrific, but they lack the huge marketing budget that makes them successful.
Load More Replies...Have we all just collectively decided to forget about him?
Load More Replies...I think that a big part of the problem is that Hollywood tends to typecast their actors, giving them the same roles over and over again, instead of offering actual opportunities to prove their worth. They want fast cash-cow money and couldn't care less about actual talent or artistic performance.
This article lacks any integrity. So unfocused and horribly written. Literally says an actors name 'just because'.
I'm going with Sarah Jessica Parker as the one I dislike. She was whiny, self absorbed, neurotic and irritating in Sex and the City. Similar to Jennifer Anniston, the media tells us these women are super attractive but that's not what I'm seeing. She looks like an old horse.
I don't understand how she made it in acting. I don't think she even comes from a famous family. So it's not nepotism. She just never was attractive to me in any way.
