30 People Who Spotted Celebrities In Public And They Acted In A Way That Suits Their Character
It would an obvious lie to say that none of us have ever dreamed about meeting our celebrity crush. Running into them in a theater? Or maybe seeing them on a hiking trail that you jog on every morning, while the rising sun colors the horizon in the perfect orange hues? Ah, but when people do actually meet celebrities, it's usually much more mundane and the setting is not what most "mortals" expect.
On February 28, an American author from New York City, Jaya Saxena, decided to ask her Twitter followers about their celebrity encounters. And not just any encounters, but as she put it "most accurate celebrity sighting". What does that mean? Well, it probably implies that the timing, setting or the actions that the celebrity was seen taking somehow seems "fitting" to their personality, or a character that they played.
It's little surprise that people flocked to share their stories in a Twitter thread that followed Jaya's original request. Scroll down below to see what celebrities people happened to see and in what setting. Oh, and don't forget to comment an vote for your favorites!

She is pure class. She loves veterans, calls us "her boys". Loveley woman.
About 20 years ago, I had the good fortune of having Luke Perry in the office next to me at work on the Fox lot. He wasn't there very often, but when he was we'd chat like old friends. He was really the opposite of his "cool character" persona - very nice, humble, fun, down to earth. When I saw the news today I wanted to share with others about the wonderful man I got to know many years ago.
Thank you. So terribly sad. I don't usually cry when a celebrity passes away, although Robin Williams and Alan Rickman still make me cry, but I cried and am still weepy about Luke Perry. Others in entertainment have shared what you have, decent, humble, kind. The world is poorer for his passing.

People are people. Pointing a camera at them doesn't make them anymore special than an average joe. Never did understand people that get "star struck"
They're people playing roles in stories and worlds people wish they were a part of. When they play their role, well, they can touch your heart and people can't help that reaction of idolization. Like how kids get excited when a fireman visits or sees someone in a superhero outfit. It's just human nature. Even celebrities get star struck over other celebrities. Sometimes at the same time when meeting each other.

Bill Cosby was doing a comedy show and I normally took care of talent when they came for tours. I was going to work Bills night then my Manager unexpectedly told me that I would have the Night off and so did ALL of the other female crew workers. At first I was mad but now I know WHY they didnt want all the college age females around Bill Cosby..LOL
Since high school I have been often compared to Keanu Reeves looks wise - in 1998 when the first Matrix was being filmed in Sydney, I spotted him having lunch at a cafe - bear 2 things in mind, I wasn't a particularly big fan of his, and I looked like S**T at the time as I was a casual heroin user. I introduced myself and had quite a decent chat, the only thing I could think to say was that I related to and loved his role in My Own Private Idaho - he gave me a great rant about Gus Van Sant being the most perfectionist/difficult film maker he has ever worked with, and he was pushed to another level as an actor, etc. Anyway, I got to the "do you think I look like you" question - there was a massive mirror there, he got up, put his arm around me and faced the mirror - his response? "Nah dude - you're better looking"
I ran into (literally, oops) Pauley Shore at the airport. The airport was dead and he was SUPER nice.
I feel like I have seen a celebrity before...but I can't think of it...did I or did i not..?
I've been to New York, and park slope many times. My aunt lives there. Also Vegas a lot. I'm sure I've seen someone famous and just didn't recognize them. I did see Taylor McKinney from teen mom in Vegas while him and macie were on their bachelor/bachelorette trip. I literally bumped into him and lost my breathe. not sure if he's considered celebrity or not but he's the only one I've recognized. We were walking through the food court in Paris.
Load More Replies...I use to work as a Cocktail Server at a Harrah's Casino in St. Louis. Natalie Cole was performing there later in the night. She sat in my high rollers slot section in the back it was empty . I was told to just leave her alone but I was walking around the area she asked politely for a glass of water and I brought it to her. She just sat there playing slots for like 30 mins then left. it was strange.
Ohh my,so many of this “famous” people I don’t know... am I just old or not American? 😁
Most of the people on this list have been famous for, at least, the last 25 years and are internationally well known.
Load More Replies...I don't know anyone famous, but my dad went to high school with Ann Wilson of Heart in Bellevue, WA.
A few years ago my daughter and I were walking along the beach when two cute poodles ran up to us and jumped up on us. While we were patting the dogs and loving the interaction we heard a familiar voice apologising profusely. We looked up to see Jon English walking towards us to call off his dogs! Best beach walk!!
A friend of mine ran to the QFC Store in Redmond, WA for a quick bite of lunch. As he stood in line he saw a sturdy grey haired man mumbling to himself in front of him. He recognized the Scottish accent right away. But it wasn't until the man went to pay for his groceries that he confirmed it was James Doohan who played Scotty on Star Trek. My husband and I saw him several months later screaming down the freeway in a Black Merkur Scorpio with the license plate "DooFame" on it. I told my husband he was certainly traveling at warp speed.
When my cousin was born we went to the hospital to see her & her Mom. As we were standing by the nursery window my cousins started whispering to each other that they thought it might be Mike Singletary standing over there. He heard them cuz he turned & gave us his wonderful big smile & said yep it's me-My wife & I just had a baby girl. He came over & shook our hands. I had no clue who he was until we went upstairs to my cousin's room & I asked. Turns out he was a football player for the Chicago Bears. Pretty cool!
Malcolm McDowell was right in front of me at the Fairmont Hotel's cafe. I didn't know it until after I had said that almond croissant looks so yummy. He looked to his left and gazed upon the buttery flaky goodness I had just pointed out. I'm now elbowing my husband who is behind me mouthing look look. When Malcolm approached the counter ordered his coffee and one almond croissant stating that it indeed looked quite good. He was talking with the young woman taking his order who must have waited on him previously, I over heard him say he was in town (San Francisco) for work. Another time I was at a Sci-Fi convention in Massachusetts, it was held in a rather nice hotel in Framingham. There were of course some stars/actors there but we didn't pay the hundreds to see them, just the basic entrance fee. Well the set up was a bit confusing and we wandered into the high priced ticket area. No sooner did we realize we were there than someone said "this way Mr Shatner".
My closest encounter with a famous person? I was on a gurney being wheeled down the hall of a hospital toward my impending surgery when the guy who was pushing the gurney almost ran my feet into Brian Keith's butt. I was dosed up with sedatives, so I didn't care.
When I was in the third grade we had a school trip to a ranch just outside Capitan New Mexico that had a small herd of bison. We get to the ranch house, and the owner of the ranch gives a small speech about safety even though the animals are in a special pen, then we all load up on the bus again. Everyone is being weird, but I sit right next to the guy and we talk nonstop for the 35-minute ride to get to the bison location, laughing, cracking jokes, swapping horse stories. We get off the bus and everyone is freaking out because I was talking to the movie star, and OMG I WASENT EVEN SCARED! I MADE HIM LAUGH! The owner of the ranch was Ronny C*x, and I was completely clueless LOL
I've met a few British celebrities. Artist Tony Hart was exactly like he was on TV, as were kids' TV presenters D**k and Dom, and I also met Simon Furman and Andrew Wildman who work/ed on Transformers comics. Pretty Anglocentric, but I'm not really one for travelling.
I used to work in a grocery store Vancouver BC ,Paul Hyde from the Payolas came in I had to serve him , I acted cool as if I didn’t know who he was, as he was about to leave I asked him, “ has anyone ever told you that you have the eyes of a Stranger “, he said nobody’s ever said that to me before
"Hey, Paul" while walking up 5th Ave. ... Paul Giamatti just smiles, says "hello," waves and keeps walking ...
Met Alicia Keys at an event for the Oxygen channel in the Chicago Planetarium ... she was a special guest performer and I was standing next to her ... I introduced myself and shook my hand ... shortly after, she performed ... "Fallin'" was just getting airplay at the time ... she is the truth when it comes to playing the keys (pun intended) ... afterward, she was getting rushed out because she was to appear on Oprah's show (Oprah was also in attendance) the next day, but when asked by one of the organizers if she would sign a copy of her first CD album for me, she stopped and signed it ...
Walking up Broadway and I hear this guy bragging about himself in a loud voice ... thought to myself "who is this clown" ... when I turn around, it happened to be Savion Glover (I recognized his trademark hairstyle) ... I just shook his hand said "what's up Savion" ... missed opportunity as the "Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk" soundtrack had just been released that day ... got to see him perform as a headliner at NJPAC a few months later ...
This kind of reminds me of a reddit post i don't have the link to but someone met frank iero in public and someone asked, "how do you do that? Meet celebrities?" And the op responded "first you have to go outside"
Also, I got to meet KISH back in the 90's, as he came into the Concert Hall to meet up with the band that was playing. I knew who he was, he'd been out of the music scene for a few years and when I saw him, I literally toppled off the table I had been sitting on. He came to my rescue and laughed when I was all googly-eyed at him. He was shocked I had any clue who he was, but he was my celebrity crush years before so I straight up told him. He was so sweet and I got an autograph that I will cherish to this day.
Not necessarily, I think, a huge "celebrity," but I was in a mall right before Christmas to pick up a gift for my mom and I accidently bumped shoulders with someone. Turned around to apologize and stared blankly at the man I just hit, trying to get the gears going in my head. He arched a brow at me with a face like "why this white girl looking at me funny?" and proceeded to go on his way in a fluffy santa hat... Took me ten long seconds to realize it was Q-Park... I hope I can properly apologize to him some day.
Met Ricky whittle, now in American gods but when he was in his hollyoak days at a charity football event lovely bloke and got what he deserved, can't say the same for Jamie lomas, Warren fox in hollyoaks
Eric Clapton in a small shop in the village in nyc. Meatloaf coming as I was leaving a mall with pink eye. He said he would marry me. I said sorry I have pink eye crying as we passed. Milford ct. Johnny winter as I was going out a side door at toads place in new haven and held the door for him as he shuffled in. He passed away shortly after that. Kevin DuBrow with quiet riot in Waterbury ct at a small club. Sang with him from the floor a Hendrix song. They were warming up. Small crowd. The drummer died shorty after that show. I had half his stick from it. Kevin a year or so after passed. Steven Tyler in new haven ct when my friends an I had worst seats behind and above the back of the stage for a show at the old new haven colosseum. We ran to the railing and he gave me a gold zebra scarf. Few others but hard to remember them all. It's the small moments that make those out of reach seem normal. O
I remember a while back I was at The Grove (mall in west LA) with my friend and she very quietly said, hey look there's Eva Mendes. I said in a very normal voice...really??? and turned around. I also ran in Ryan Seacrest in Sunset blvd while celebrating my bday and he wished me a happy bday and even took a picture with me and all my friends. He was a really cool guy.
This is everything wrong with humanity right now. The blind worship of people famous for executing someone else's ideas in a public setting sickens me.
So, there's no possible way he could have run into these people BEFORE he died, right?
