Guy Shares What It’s Like Living With 27 Moms And 150 Siblings

Different religions and profound beliefs that are not that common if not fascinate people, then at least awaken their curiosity and bring a lot of questions to the table. One of these religions is Mormonism. And of course, a lot of unknown leaves room for interpretation. Even though Mormonism has a lot of the same traditions as Christianity, there are still some features that distinguish it from other religious groups. One of these features is polygamy.

Polygamy, or being married to multiple partners, is not a common phenomenon. In fact, this topic raises a lot of questions and leads to serious discussions on human rights. Despite this, there are people who decide to follow this religion and to lead a polygamist lifestyle, which only makes it more interesting to find out how they manage to live a life entirely devoted to their faith and family that is as large as the whole community. One of those examples is TikToker @kayezer0, an ex-Mormon who decided to share his experience of growing up in a polygamous family with 150 siblings.

More Info: TikTok

Murray Blackmore shared what it was like growing up in a polygamous family with one dad, 27 moms, and 150 siblings

Murray Blackmore, better known as Kaye Zero to TikTok users, gained a lot of attention after he shared a video where he stated that he grew up with one dad, 27 moms, and 150 siblings. Soon people had more questions for Murray, who gladly answered them in these short TikTok videos. As it turned out, his family are Mormons who lead a polygamist lifestyle.

In one of the videos, he shared that he is a middle child and explained in more detail what it was like to grow up with this many kids in the family, from kids being named according to the system that their parents came up with to everyday logistics that had to be followed to make sure that everyone was taken care of.

His parents announced that they’re expecting another kid and it’s hard to tell if they’re not planning on having more

In one of his recent videos, Murray shared that the parents are expecting another kid, which means that there will be 151 siblings or even more, as with this many wives, this could be not the end of it.

Murray’s parents came up with a “naming strategy” by giving names that start with the same letter to kids that were born the same year

The TikToker never questioned the fact that he has such a big family

Bored Panda contacted the TikToker and also asked him few questions. Now Murray is an ex-Mormon. Having in mind that usually, such tight communities take it really hard when someone decides to leave, we were curious to find out why he decided to stop following the religion and how his family have taken it. He stated: “Growing up there was always a piece of me that never really connected to the beliefs of Mormonism. I stayed a part of the church to feel like I belonged with my family. It wasn’t until I entered adulthood that I decided it just wasn’t right for me. At first it was hard to tell my family, but over time, it became easier.”

He answered some questions posed by people online and showed some insights of living together with so many people

For those who are not the only child in their family, do you remember ever fighting for attention from your parents? Can you imagine what it’s like when you have this many siblings? Murray told us that his father has 150 children and his mother—10. He is the middle child in both cases. “As much as I wanted attention from my parents, they just couldn’t give it to me. It’s impossible to give each child equal attention when there are so many. The attention I did get was from my siblings and I am very grateful to have had many role models in my life.”

According to Murray, having siblings is one of the biggest advantages of having a large family. When you have this many brothers and sisters, you never really feel lonely as you always have someone to interact with.

The TikToker has made multiple videos about his family, answering many questions that people have for him. The video where he explains the whole family situation got 7.3M views and the video of him announcing that there is another kid on the way got 6.8M views. The videos are full of various comments of people who are curious to find out more. Bored Panda asked Murray how people react when they find out that he’s from such a large family. He admitted that at first people are shocked, but then they tend to choose one of the two ways: “they either think it’s interesting and want to learn more about it or they contribute to the slander that’s been a ‘shadow’ over my family.”

Polygamy is a very controversial topic to this day. The practice of polygamy in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) was banned in 1890. However, fundamentalist Mormons still choose to have more than one spouse. Since it is illegal in most countries, they usually solve this problem by legally marrying one woman and having other women as their “spiritual wives.” The issue of polygamy is still a sensitive topic for Mormons and a cause for debate among them and the public.

The breath-taking arrogance and blatant disregard for the planet here disgusts me. I know that there are many Christians out there that think that their god literally gave them the Earth to do with what they please. Awful. Why does one man think the Earth needs 150 copies of his DNA? Vomit worthy.

All it takes is one house fire. They have a snowball's chance of getting all those people out of that place in time. Where are the fire marshals?

My Husband's family was LDS (the regular kind). I am Catholic. They hated me from the get-go. Even offered him $K to divorce me. When he passed they tried to take his body away from me! Saying he had to be buried with "his family"! The fact that he had made it clear where he wanted to be buried (not in their family cemetery) meant nothing to them. His sister wrote and published his obituary before I could and didn't even mention our 30+ year marriage! My son helped me write and publish a revised one and our lawyer got custody of the cremains so he could be buried where he wanted to be. But it was a long horrid nasty fight. Needless to say, I moved away as soon as I could!

Sorry you had to deal with those type of in-laws. But I'm glad you got 30+ years with him and he stood his ground in wanting to be buried where he wanted. It's a shame his family didn't respect either of you. You moved away, good on you! I hope you're living your best now, aside from missing your husband. Best wishes! :)

Dad didn't do it to have 150 children. He did it to have dozens of different women and girls. Virgins of course, and probably started them very young.

Those young men are tossed out of the community with pretty much grade school education. They suffer a lot from underemployment in menial pickup work because of this.

Murray's father, Winston Blackmore has a page in wikipedia. His ex-wife Jane fled with her youngest daughter to prevent the girl from being forced into marriage at age 17, as had happened with her other daughters. Mary Jayne Blackmore is one of Jane’s that was left behind. Mary Jayne Blackmore published a book called Balancing Bountiful: What I Learned About Feminism from My Polygamist Grandmothers. Columnist Daphne Bramham discusses this book in the Vancouver Sun.

This is just gross. I can't even. How do you remember all their names? How do you remember birthdays? How do you do birthdays and Christmases and graduations etc. Nothing would ever be THEIR day. I have 4 kids and there's sibling rivalry. FOUR. No way I could ever be ok with my SO going and sleeping with another woman and impregnating her. I'm equally fascinated and disgusted. So many questions.

Polyamorous relationships are fine. But this isn't polyamorous, this is ONE dude having SEVERAL wives, whereas polyamorous is let's say, four people all in a relationship with each other. Plus 150 kids is...wow. Is the toilet seat always up? Can't ever get any food because your sibs steal it all? Does each kid have their own room? HOW MANY DIAPERS DO THEY THROW OUT IN A DAY?!?!?!

As fundamentalists, they likely use cloth diapers, which they probably make the older children wash daily. My mother's cousin had 10 kids; the mother did not work and she got a lot of help from the older children. The older ones looked after the younger ones while mom tended to the baby. Everyone who was able helped prepare and cook the meals. They lived on a farm and grew their own vegetables. I imagine their lives are much the same, except they have all the sister wives for adult conversation.

For me it represents a very patriarchal world where the man has 27 wives, but each wife only has one husband. They are 'allowed' contraception but the husband usually dominates that decision. The church encourages marriage and families, so you can imagine what career choices are left for the independent woman. The daughters may well end up with the same fate as their mothers. To be used as baby breeding machines.

It’s not even the ‘baby breeding machines’ that’s problematic (aside from the disastrous impact having many children does to the planet); it’s the fact that those daughters are repeated r*pe victims, since the daughters’ actual consent is not being respected. He’s not a man; he’s a sick pig that exploits women and girls.

Where the hell do all these Mormons in the US hide? Polygamy isn't legal and not even condoned by the official Mormon church! They regularly kick out young boys from their community because a few disgusting, old men want a dozen wives and there are no partners left for young men.

There are a bunch in Utah and some in other places. They don't get LEGALLY married! Which means, btw, that at least 26 of those 27 women are legally single parents. And yes, they collect *every* possible benefit through social welfare programs. The community patriarchs pool the resources and dole them out as they see fit.

Technically it's a polgynous family, since there is one man and many women. Polygamy is many men and many women. This is crazy nonetheless, though.

Polygamy include polygyny and polyandry. Polygamy means "the practice or custom of having more than one wife or husband at the same time." Many men and many women is called an orgy lol

As other commenters have pointed out, this article misuses the term Mormon. The real LDS church banned polygamy in 1890. Those who still practice it are Fundamentalists who are in no way affiliated with the LDS church. They are a breakaway sect that practices their own beliefs. The author of this article should have done her research and made this distinction. Actual LDS people have been fighting against this kind of misinformation for over 100 years. People like Murray absolutely deserve to have their stories shared. More awareness needs to be spread about the kind of people like his father who dominate so many others for their own gain. I just wish the article had tried a bit harder to represent the facts.

The Mormons most definitely look the other way and still practice this. Don't defend them. They would do this too and be open about it if it was legal. Women and children are property to be passed around in the Mormon church as well. If women question it they are kicked out w no financial means no education no family no help just like the gay people.

I have nothing against people following different religions, but there has been a lot in the news that many of the "Women" the Dad married were underaged like 12 to 14 years old. They were brought up in other polygamous communities to beleive that this was normal, too.

I have nothing against polygamy among true equals. Most societies that we've known about throughout time had no restrictions on polygamy or polyandry. However, neither was very common, because the economics don't work out for most people. But the cultish behavior like this where it is clearly unhealthy is disgusting. And there should be no tip-toeing around that.

Polygamy became a thing back in the day as another offshoot of women having no agency. No doubt charitable reasons existed but were needed only because men have a long held, almost genetically inherited, fear of the female side of our species and had a driving desire to keep them under control. Don't believe me in this aspect of fear? Look at two things about females that will strike fear in the ignorant (really all people back in the early days of religion). #1 - Females bleed for no visible reason on a regular basis. This was "important" enough to have been mentioned in at least one major religion as "being unclean". #2 - Actually probably the more important one. Females are literally able to grow new life. This one may not have been a "fear based in ignorance" thing as much as an acknowledgement that women were at least equal, if not slightly better, than men because of this ability. Can't have them being equal or better, can we?

If you think that this would lead to a really limited gene pool, you'd be right. An inherited trait called fumarase deficiency is really rare in the population as a whole. In polygamous communities in Utah and Arizona, it's rampant because so many people are descended from just two men. ___ https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20170726-the-polygamous-town-facing-genetic-disaster

In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (main stream Mormons), we are taught that there are many souls in heaven waiting to come to earth and that is why some of us have lots of children, We are also taught that the earth has all the resources we will need and we are taught to be good stewards of all we are given. As for most polygamist sects, it is a case of "power" & "control". In the history of the LDS church polygamy was practiced as a way to take care of the widows (I'm responsible for taking care of my brothers wife if he passes), it was not about multiple sexual partners.

Mormonism is a slang term. The Reorganized Church has practiced plural marriage since the 1880’s. They split off of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1890. The foundation of the Restored Church is plural marriage. Their communities are built away from others and they do not mingle with other faiths or people. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints only practices monogamy and should not be compared or lumped in with the Reorganized Church. Plural marriage is against the laws of the land and the Church of Jesus Christ.

Because the LDS have the Book of Mormon- you are correct to say they cannot call themselves Christians- that the Bible actually is second to the Book of Mormon to study. LDS missionaries give The Book of Mormon out when they are invited into homes of people who are interested. It's up to debate by so many, because the LDS do believe in Christ, they celebrate Christmas. I for one, agree with you Patrick. For the sole reason that The Book of Mormon is the main book in the LDS religion, and not the Bible.

From various sources I’ve read, polygamy started in various locations and religions for one of two reasons. 1. It was a way for widows with children to be protected under a single family unit where patriarchal societies won’t give them freedoms to feed or shelter themselves otherwise, or 2. A show of power as for harems of the past. And within Mormonism I believe it started as the first one. During the initial settlement of the US many men died leaving their widows and children behind, thus polygamy was started to help support each other. And, as with other polygamy friendly/accepting religions or countries, less then 10% or potential unions are polygamist anyway.

I’d just like to say that the religion is known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints, not “Mormonism” . It is also important to note that the practice of polygamy is outdated and has not been practiced within the church for over 100 years. (The practice officially ended in 1890) Whoever these people are they are definitely no longer members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

I live in Utah and have known a lot of people from families like this. How do they survive? The children are put to work from the moment they're able--cooking, cleaning, and esp taking care of younger siblings. And yes, it's a cult. Ex-mormons, even non flds, have more baggage than practically anyone you'll ever meet because they are literally trying to reprogram their brains.

Hey y’all! I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I would like to publicly state that this is a rather unfair depiction of our church beliefs. I am saddened at the situation of this man and his family—this is clearly a form of abuse, which does not comply with Christ’s teachings. One who simply states their membership is not truly a member of the church—they must comply with our beliefs as well—and that includes a monogamous marriage between one man and one woman. If you have questions about polygamy in the church, you can visit this webpage: https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/topic/polygamy If you have any other questions about our church, visit www.churchofjesuschrist.org. Hope this clears a few things up! Have a good day and God bless. :)

Hey Konstancija Gasaitytė, how about you fix your garbage reporting/writing, and don't wait until the end to mention the fact that this is NOT part of the LDS religion. You have multiple paragraphs all throughout the "article" saying these are Mormons, and what Mormons believe in, and that this is normal in the Mormon culture. It is not. Then, by some miracle, at the very END of this sad piece of literature, you slip in "Oh, by the way, these aren't regular members of the LDS church, these are members of the FLDS church, who broke away years ago, which actually has absolutely nothing to do with the first and official LDS church." How convenient. Members of the real LDS church have

Oh my gosh, people! you are only getting part of the story here, AND this is an offshoot of "Mormonism." There are several different such sects in North America. They practice SOME of the same religious base, but they stray away according to their own interpretations of the same scriptural teachings and doctrine. It is NONE of anyone's business outside the family or their religion how they choose to follow their beliefs. This Kyle dude is ONLY grabbing attention and IS NOT telling the whole story. Many of the wives are often from single parent households due to death of a spouse and or divorce and OFTEN already have children. The list is LONG of the many things that are not being told here. Why do you people JUDGE those things you know nothing about??? NO! I am NOT part of that religion, but do know quite a bit about it. How? Why? Because I cared enough to ask, study and LEARN for MYSELF and not be spoon-fed by some social media clown begging for his 15 minutes. Use of my own brain..

The pure GALL this man has! What kind of person would decide to breed so relentlessly that he has 150 children?! I've got a hunch that a lot of his wives don't want to be there! The Earth doesn't need 150+ copies of you, just have one or two! You know damn well you won't be able to care for those kids as well as they deserve, so why do you insist on making more? I think these kids should be sent to foster care/adopted, because this isn't okay.

That is a lie. The LDS Church publicly renounced the practice of polygamy in 1890, but it has never renounced polygamy as doctrine, as evidenced in LDS scriptures. It has always permitted and continues to permit men to be married in Mormon temples “for the eternities” to more than one wife.

FLDS is not the same religion as The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS / Mormons). The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints does not practice polygamy and hasn’t practiced polygamy in over 100 years. Make sure you check your facts before you group together two religions that are VERY different and have not been connected since the 1800s.

Women and children are property to be passed around in the Mormon church as well. I have nothing against polygamy among true equals. Most societies that we've known about throughout time had no restrictions on polygamy or polyandry. However, neither was very common, because the economics don't work out for most people. But the cultish behavior like this where it is clearly unhealthy is disgusting.

In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (main stream Mormons), we are taught that there are many souls in heaven waiting to come to earth and that is why some of us have lots of children, We are also taught that the earth has all the resources we will need and we are taught to be good stewards of all we are given. As for most polygamist sects, it is a case of "power" & "control". In the history of the LDS church polygamy was practiced as a way to take care of the widows (I'm responsible for taking care of my brothers wife if he passes), it was not about multiple sexual partners.

But doesn't the responsibility to be stewards of our planet run contrary to the amount of children produced in these relationships?

Mormon is a blanket term for many churches, only a few of which practice polygamy. The largest Mormon church, the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has banned polygamy for over a century. Be more specific.

And another thing is there is a great divide between the doctrine and the culture of the church. As a member, my family and I are not huge fans of church culture. But the doctrine is sound and I believe in it. Please leave us alone. Thank you.

Can y'all just leave Mormons alone? I'm so tired of the religion bashing that goes on on this site. These people are FLDS, but y'all don't want the facts. Nothing y'all try to tell my about my religion is going to change my mind. Just leave well enough alone. Mormons don't equal polygamists

Those of you pro-gay marriage but disgusted at polygamy need to examine your ideological consistency. Why is it not ok for people to marry whom they please for whatever reason, so long as they are all of age? Why is the government involved at all in the marriage business?

These women are brainwashed and controlled. They are in a cult. The children and women are at the mercy of male pedophiles that also commit incest. Why are you the worst person on this site. You are extreme all the time. Just say you hate women and minorities and be done w it. Why all these words all the time when it comes down to you hating anyone that's not a white heterosexual male. Are you that afraid of anyone that doesn't look exactly like you? Or do you hate yourself so much you project this hatred onto everyone else? Misery loves company that should be your handle bc you never speak the truth. You lie consistently there is definitely something deeply wrong w you.
