A woman who faced an acid attack will never be married or her family will fall apart and be separated and she will not dare go out to meet anyone. She has to live in fear, and in inferiority throughout the rest of her life. Many victims, though not dead, have to suffer from a lifetime of disability, living in pain, feeling the guilt of physical complexity because of not healing wounds and they also suffer from mental injuries when their communities, relatives keep away from them… They would rather die than live with the dishonor.
In Vietnam, this type of crime often happens, however, the act of the acid attack on other shall be dealt with the crime of intentionally causing injury or harm to the health of others. In fact, this behavior is extremely cruel, but the punishment seems too light compared with the terrible consequences to the victim, so this article has no deterrence strength and enough prevention.
The woman in the photo collection is one of the victims who suffered from the acid attack when she was young. The consequences of the long years of her life are that she has lived in extreme poverty and sufferings and loss of future since that fateful day.
