This weekend the London Pride parade took place and Skittles decided to show their support for the LGBT community by ditching its vibrant colors, because “only one rainbow deserves to be the centre of attention.”
“So this is kinda awkward, but we’re just gonna go ahead and address the rainbow-coloured elephant in the room,” writes Skittles in their campaign created with the help of adam&eveDDB. “You have the rainbow … we have the rainbow … and usually that’s just hunky-dory. But this Pride, only one rainbow deserves to be the centre of attention – yours. And we’re not going to be the ones to steal your rainbow thunder, no siree.”

But this Pride, only one rainbow deserves to be the centre of attention – yours. And we’re not going to be the ones to steal your rainbow thunder, no siree. That’s why this weekend, we’re giving up our rainbow. But don’t worry, we’ll still be there to celebrate every colourful minute with you, we’ll just be completely starkers while we do it.
Have a great day, Pride.
From Skittles.”

Share on FacebookI think this is really cool of them to do that. To me it does show respect because the pride flag is rainbow and they wanted that to be the only thing rainbow that mattered that day. I really like this a lot, especially since I'm part of the LGBT community. I agree with Crystal Rose when she said "I love skittles and now I love them even more!"
We ARE going to celebrate PRIDE every singleee year, until you homophobes understand that it is not about trying to be better or more importante, it is about demanding respect. The day gays have the same rights and respect that straight people, than we will stop celebrating pride. You can cry allyou want, but more and more brands will support PRIDE every single year until you accept it and understand it. Cry, call the whambulance, threat brands to not consume their products anymore (they know you will, this argument is sooo tired) do whatever you want, but our movement is growing stronger every single day.
This is awesome...in my country the ltbg pride was so terrible:( so much violence:( i love the respectfull people and countries:(
I hope that they bring the colors back!! (No hate on the LGBT community but I like colorful skittles)
I didn't mean to attack you, I think I got my tone wrong in my comment :/
Load More Replies...It's awesome!! I love skittles since I was a kid, now I love it even more and admire it!
I always knew there was a good reason as to why I am still eating Skittles at the age of 58. Well done!!!!!
It's a show of support, lord knows that the lgbt community needs as much support as it can get right now. The whole rainbow thing is just symbolic.

Load More Replies...Hello "American YEEHAW" well I see what you're saying and I am well aware that many people think this way. None of us are going to be right or wrong but I want to share my opinion with you. Yes, the bible may say that homosexuality is a sin, but if you read the bible a lot, you will also know that it says that women should keep their heads covered at all times, in Mark it says that divorce is prohibited, you shall not play with the skin of a pig (football) and it also has prohibitions against tattoos, round haircuts, and even wearing mixed fabrics, so apparently there is a lot of us that sin every single day without knowing and I'm almost positive you do to. No one is perfect, and on that note I'm gonna need more than "the bible says not to" to stop being who I truly am. Yes I believe in God and I am a Christian and I'm sure god will forgive me for truly loving the same gender.

The pride movement is about standing up and saying, no, we ARE human, there is nothing wrong with being the way we are.
