Mom Shares A Disturbing Video Of Her Spiked Daughter In Hopes That It Could Save Others From A Similar Situation

Drugging is more than simply an urban legend, as more and more people, young women in particular, are having their drinks spiked, leaving them in vulnerable, dangerous and potentially life-threatening situations. A recent survey from the American Addiction Center showed that out of 900 respondents, 44% of men and 56% of women said they’ve unknowingly had their drink spiked.

One such disturbing incident happened in Southend, Essex, where 18-year-old woman Millie Taplin was enjoying her night out in a nightclub called Moo Moo. Millie told the local news outlet: “I had a couple of sips, not a lot because it was a strong drink and I don’t like strong drinks!” But as soon as she got back, she fell very ill and had to be taken to hospital.

What followed was captured in the footage that showed Millie squirming on the hospital bed with her eyes wide open and her jaw clenched. The shots from the footage were initially shared by Millie’s mom on Facebook in a bid to educate young girls and “anyone really.” “It was the most disturbing sight of my daughter I have ever seen. We do not want anyone else to go through it,” the mom commented.

The incident happened when Millie had gone clubbing for the first time since she turned 18 on a Saturday night. According to Metro, Millie said the man offered her a vodka lemonade and told her to ‘try this’ at the Moo Moo nightclub in Southend, Essex.

But after a few sips, the 18-year-old felt very sick. “I had a couple of sips of the drink and went to the smoking area. I came back and felt like I’d drunk too much, and then I went outside to be sick,” she told in an interview with The Mirror.

Here’s the disturbing video of Millie suffering from a spiked drink

The victim of drugging added that horrifyingly, she was aware of her surroundings the whole time. “I knew everything going on. I could reply to people in my head but I couldn’t get it out. It was really scary. In my head I was there but in my body I wasn’t.”

According to her mom Claire, “She was sick and she couldn’t see, she couldn’t walk.” Luckily, her friends then took her to A&E. The state lasted about three to four hours, and the teenager was discharged the next morning, The Mirror reports.

Bored Panda reached out to Emily, the spokesperson of the Alcohol And Drug Foundation, who shared some useful information on what we should all know about spiking. “Usually, drinks are spiked with alcohol. Either the drink is stronger than you think, or someone has added even more alcohol,” she said and added that despite common belief, spiking with drugs like GHB and Rohypnol are quite rare and they’re usually depressants.

However, when it comes to keeping yourself safe, Emily stated that “nobody should ever feel like it’s their responsibility to prevent their drink being spiked. And it’s never a person’s fault if they’re the victim of a drink spiking incident.”Having said that, there are some practical tips to make sure your drink is safe throughout the night out. According to the Alcohol and Drug Foundation:

Millie told the press she now thinks twice about going out, which is “a shame because no one should have to feel like that”

Why should women have to deal with this? This isn't on women to "watch their drinks" or "be careful". Men need to be punished for this. This is on the men who spike drinks. TBH I'd take out a hit on a man who did this to my daughter.

The effects of a spiked drink can be horrible. It happend to two friends of mine. One of them noticed the onset of the drug and got them home safe. But it turned out the other friend had been abused as a child, and because of the drugs she spend the next 10 hours cowering under a table while vividly reliving this abuse.

Can we point a finger at a club or bar that asks people to abandon their drinks to use the bathroom. That is just looking for trouble. What's with that policy.

I'm all for education, but I think that's a pretty weak argument. I'm much more in favor of all bars/clubs having cctv and complimentary test strip to .are sure your drink is safe. As a man, I will say that most men don't need to be "taught" to not try to sexually assault women. Drugging someone is a deeply disturbing thing to do and I don't believe that people who somehow thing it's ok just need to be educated. They need to be caught, incarcerated, and sterilized.

My little sister had her drink spiked once. She said she felt super drunk and very sleepy afterwards. Thank goodness she was with a group of responsible friends who noticed something was up and got her out of there. I get the shivers just thinking about it.

What a GREAT WARNING! Every man should be shown this with his parents to see how much damage this does to women. That way he will not do it and will report his friends that do. ALSO hunt down the man who did this and be sure to make every man watch the perp walk and the trial.

If I ever went off the deep end I would serial kill rapists, male and female, by looking through public legal records, finding one of the many rape trials that had not been convicted and searching for the details of the accused. Then I would shoot them in the street at night, leaving some note to police about how I only kill rapists. If I killed enough of them it would eventually end up on the news. Women would feel safer and rapists would feel like they were in danger. This sounds bad to most people but it’s only because society has conditioned us to think it’s so. The founding fathers who built this country probably raped their wives. Raping your spouse was actually legal until the 60s. And a rapist would hurt for a second while they were being shot. Rape victims hurt for life, and if he gets away with it once he’ll probably do it again. Justice will prevail? Why, there’s no other way. The winner will define the meaning of justice.

I never leave my drink, always keep it in hand and still someone managed to put ghb in it one time. A beer bottle, not even a wide glass. Probably when talking to someone, still holding my beer in my hand at the bar, just turned my head for a moment to speak to someone. I was extremely lucky to be in a small city, in a bar where most people -including bar staff- knew me quite well. They immediately knew something was wrong, it was my first beer, had a few sips and as they told me I wan't myself at all. Pale in the face, acting drunk (I never got drunk) and such. 2 people who are like family took me home and put me to bed. Still don't remember a single thing from that night. Now if I ever go out I will only go to the toilet between drinks and I will always safeguard other peoples drinks (guys drinks too!). I don't dare take a sip if my drink was out of my sight for half a second, even around trusted people only. I don't even want to think about what could have happened to me that night

If you can’t get a date without getting a girl/boy drunk or drugged, then you don’t deserve a date because you’re a sorry, low, piece of human garbage. It’s not fun. It’s not harmless. You can kill people via the drug itself or a resulting accident because that person loses control. Despicable.

A long time ago, someone spiked my drink at a party. It took full effect while I was driving my car on the freeway on the way back home. I parked the car on the side when I looked at the road and, at least to me, it looked like a gigantic ramp going up above the clouds. After that, my memory is very fuzzy, but a friend drove us back and in the next days we discovered I was one of many to fall victim to those idiots. I think it was LSD, at least what little I remember past the skyward freeway leads me to believe it was. Not a pleasant experience at all.

My sister was spiked when she was 19 and out clubbing. She said the same, being completely aware of what was happening but having no control of her body. Luckily her friends called a "night bus" a portable medical centre that drives around clubbing areas and they picked her up. My mum says she looked dead when they saw her and the only person she would/could respond to was my dad. 12 years later she still has nightmares about feeling so powerless over her own body and refuses to drink alcohol outside of her own home

The manufacturers of these substances need to do something that make the drugs immediately noticeable. Like they set off metal detectors or glow really brightly and give off a bright beam when exposed to air. Anything to make it blatantly obvious exactly who is carrying them.

Man, I hate this stuff. At one of our local goth and gay clubs, one guy had drugged a few people, RIGHT AT THE BAR. They caught the guy but I don't know what happened to him. Thankfully, it did not go on for very long because he was so brazen. I don't drink (no judgement) but I will continue to drink my sodas in the car.

I wish people in the comments would remember "out of 900 respondents, 44% of men and 56% of women said they’ve unknowingly had their drink spiked." This happens to both Men and Women, women in higher numbers, but not by that much. And to say all perpetrators are Men, like many comments suggest, is a guess. I don't mean to be particular about this, but when I see people saying Men and Boys need to be educated this is not the right thing to do, my logic says EVERYONE needs to be taught this. Because Women and Girls do this kind of thing as well. Sociopathy is not inclusive to Men only. There's tons across the board no matter what gender it is.

Why did the Security Guard not keep an eye on the drink? Tell someone they have to set it down and just leave? Unfortunately, every one, male or female, has to be aware of this. I'm long past my drinking days. I'm so sorry that young 'uns have to make this such a priority, instead of having fun, like they should.

My mother taught me in the late 1960s to NEVER leave your drink unattended, and keep your hands over the opening if it's in a glass. Just like looking both ways before crosdiing a street, this should be taught to everyone - both males and females. Always look out for yourself. Nobody else is going to, and no way too know who to trust, especially strangers

I was spiked about a decade ago. Two women were talking about forcing sex on a man, and I told the bartender about it, and move. I decide on a second beer while ordering my food, and the rest of the night was a slideshow. In the weeks following, I remember the bartender vigorously encouraging me to have a shot of something that was apparently really terrible, I dry heave at the bar, I collapse in the bathroom and I'm walked back to my seat, I pay a $26 tab (half of it was a tip) and the bartender walks me to my car and wishes me good luck getting home. I wreck my car less than a block from the bar, get arrested, and I don't really come out of it until midday the next day. Even then it took about a full day to get past the brain fog. I got a DUI. I also sued the bar and they closed, and got to do some talks about it to raise awareness of drugs, drinking, and driving.

Okay. Poor girl and all that. You all said it already in the comments. Glad she's ok. But my first question again was why was this filmed and posted ? To warn us - sure. Its a f****d up world with f****d up people and we have to be careful everyday. Parents teach us that from young age. But again, why the actual footage? We've seen drugged people , we know its not a pretty sight … I don't know what I'm trying to say..... maybe its just that if this happens to a sibling of mine - I'm sure as hell I'm not gonna pull out my phone and film my brother/sister/child/sibling while comforting her/him. Makes no sense to me. My reactions will be totally different.... like worried the f**k out to have time to do things like that....

You’re talking about yourself, though. Her mother probably spent several hours by her side being worried about her and being enraged by what is happening to her because of some lowlife with no manhood that did this to her daughter, and then she might have thought, ‘what if my niece deals with this, too? What if my friend’s daughter deals with this situation??? How can this be stopped? Maybe if I showed how it is affecting my daughter, maybe the sick lowlives wouldn’t do this to women and girls’ (which is hopeless wishful thinking, since the perpetrators aren’t going to be deterred by this footage, as we know, but that mother is probably in her 40’s and 50’s and many of her age tend to have ‘wishful thinking’ more than others, is my guess). I know that the footage could at least spook girls and women into being even more hyper vigilant and that’s good.

Yeah no. 1) I'm no doctor, but I never ever heard of spiked drinks making you act in that cinematic horror movie way. No, spiked drinks make you faint and that's it. 2) What kind of mother sees her daughter like this and the first thing in her mind is "yep, I'm gonna record this and show it to strangers online?".

THIS IS FAKE. IT HAS BEEN PROVEN THERE WERE NO DRUGS IN HER SYSTEM. Let me repeat: this is a super attention-seeking mom and daughter couple. I'm amazed most comments here thought this wasn't fake. 1) No spiked drink would give her that body reaction. 2) Her mom's first idea when her daughter is sick is to record her and share online? Guys, spiked drinks are bad, BUT THIS IS A MENTALLY DISTURBED INDIVIDUAL WHO'S FAKING IT.

The drug tests hospitals have can only detect so many drugs. They can't detect mixed drugs or numerous other drugs that can cause a reaction like this. For you to think that this is fake is appalling.

Well why was she out at a nightclub drinking at 18 when legal age of 21… I understand that’s not the point because it shouldn’t matter if she was legal age of drinking or not it should never happen. So in retrospect her being 18 it should’ve never happened because she shouldn’t have been there in the first place

"44% of men and 56% of women said they’ve unknowingly had their drink spiked." Said right there in the article. Sure, we women are at greater risk, apparently, but, hell, over 40% is freaking high of a number as well! Reminds me also of an interesting article I read long ago about drugs and gay bars. Not saying women can't do this (even to other women, for that matter), but it's surely something to keep in mind. Stay safe out there, everyone!

My little sister had her drink spiked once. She said she felt super drunk and very sleepy afterwards. Thank goodness she was with a group of responsible friends who noticed something was up and got her out of there. I get the shivers just thinking about it.

Well Sh!t. That poor girl. We really have to do something about this. I have a knot in my gut just typing this. I want to round up the team, hunt him down and hurt him in ways I cannot describe. Rude Word !

Don't worry: it's a fake story. It's been confirmed there were no drugs on her.

Men are scum. F*****g awful scum. Yes, #notallmen and all that, but there are a S**t-load of scummy men out there and a s**t-load more of their buddies that know what's going on and don't say anything.

Spiking a drink should be legally considered attempted rape and attempted battery, AT LEAST.

If you can’t get a date without getting a girl/boy drunk or drugged, then you don’t deserve a date because you’re a sorry, low, piece of human garbage. It’s not fun. It’s not harmless. You can kill people via the drug itself or a resulting accident because that person loses control. Despicable.

And if the victim (regardless of gender) has a medication allergy, or is on meds, and the spiking agent interacts? You can see a lot of nasty-AF stuff. spoken as someone with the MD.... Saw some crazy stuff happen b/c of this.

This makes me feel so ashamed as a man and as a human. Why must we attack innocent people like this? A girl goes out to have fun with friends and she’s targeted by some sick son of a bitch. I’m glad she ended up okay.. many don’t have such a positive outcome :(((

I never go to clubs ( or anywhere after ten) and my whole life I have never touched alcohol and never plan to and I’m still worried I could get spiked eating out after reading this. I’m seventeen and frmale and have a big butt and those are probably good enough resins to spike me.

What the HELL? What kind of drug does that?? Seriously, I've never seen anyone act like that, it's like she has a particular disease, I can't think of the name. Has anyone ever seen a reaction like this? I thought spiked drinks just make you really out of it, like extra drunk.
