Start – Shut Down: My Life Revolved Around Social Networks Until I Watched This
Victor Habchy, who was previously published on Bored Panda as a photographer for his 2014 Burning Man pictures came back with his first short film. Victor is passionate about images, and from this love came the idea of working on a video called “Start – Shut Down”.
In this short movie, he acknowledges the sadness in the modern interactions. We can’t deny that we all have a smartphone in our pocket, making us busy from the rest of the world. From all the choices we can do in our lives, we are disappointed anyway.
Inspired by “This is how we date now” from Jamie Varon, Victor Habchy wrote, directed and produced this movie which will leave a trace on you without any doubt. As it was the case from my close friend, Alex, who was spending his whole time on his computer. He told me, full of tears: “Can’t do this anymore. I spend so much time online I am not connected to the others. I am there, on my desk, waiting for my next e-mail while constantly refreshing my Facebook page. I need to change all of this, and I need to do it now.”
Since then, my friend Alex does not write to me anymore. He calls me. He comes to see me. Recreate the connection we used to have. We traded laughs and smiles against emojis and “LMAO”. This video can make us think and feel again. Thrill about how life is great and live it the fullest. As long as we are there. Beat that, Instagram.
