Today we’d like for you to meet the artist Mahnaz Yazdani. Mahnaz’s deep and meaningful work often portrays society's problems in surrealistic illustrations that tend to show how everyday people (just like us) suffer from things that seemingly the rest of our modern society refuses to acknowledge more often than not.

One could say we probably have gotten used to the said problems just because we are always surrounded by them, so much that we don't even notice them anymore. However, things such as war, global pandemic, and problems revolving around our mental health aren’t going anywhere any time soon.

All in all, Yazdani’s work might give you a thought or two regarding the way we live currently.

Bored Panda also reached out to the artist to find out a little bit more about her and her work.

"I am a storyteller who tells most of her stories in her comics and animations. I started my art journey as an animator and cartoonist twenty years ago. My focus was on making animation for years. Since 2015, I have been professionally drawing editorial cartoons. I had so many stories in my mind waiting to be created, but animating all of them needed lots of years, so I chose comic style to tell my stories faster."

"Maybe the main characteristic of mine has led me to create such art: a humoristic outlook and thinking about the feelings of other people, for example, how does a kid feel under bombardment. Those help me to create a humorous story and then tell it in the shape of a comic, cartoon, or animation."

So beautifully illustrated, yet so devistately accurate and confronting. Currently we are being told to take our empty plastic bags back to our house, because the seahorses are dying.

It's saying that only those from privilege (represented here by the kids flying in on dollars) have access to knowledge (the book fortress). The less privileged are locked out.

Not all children are born into enough money to learn. Sometimes just enough to survive. This egen chases you into adulthood and teens as you look for collage. Taking into consideration asking yourself. "What can i afford?" Because even scholarships cant save you. And loans are insane

This whole time college applicants thought they just had to be smart to get in these Ivy League Schools. But it's actually been bribery, legacies, and "my dad works here" or "built this library", that's been the priority, and not your GPA. They give out more than half the available spots (Harvard) before even looking at applicants. And what's worse is for a decade these schools lead the country to believe there were no spots for less advantaged white people because of Affirmative Action, increasing the racial divide and hostility towards minorities. But nobody's making them apologize for that?

I'm sorry to disagree with so many of you, but it's beyond annoying to believe education is only available to the wealthy. At least in America, with a library card, and with a basic capacity to read and understand, anyone can get a free, classical education. Not that difficult, and the beauty of books!!!

Yep. Too many people whine that only the elite have access to college. The GI Bill pays for your college and pays you to go (they call it a housing allowance), companies like Amazon are paying for college, and here in Maryland, they give free college to those with a household income below a certain amount. I guess these people feel that people should be banging on their doors, begging them to go to college, instead of getting off of their asses and doing a minimum amount of research to find scholarships, free college, and tuition reimbursement programs.

Yeah but think of how many can get internet or have a safe local library. Especially during the pendemic when libraries were closed. I live in la, and I know that if I didn't have a my own computers I'd have had to do all my assignments on my cellphone and that's not how you earn good grades. Also if you have multiple siblings and only one house computer for everyone to go to school on... Usually at the same time. I gave my nephew my old laptop so he and his didn't have to share and so my brother in law could use the family computer for his job. Had I not bought a new computer before the pendemic they would have no way of having them all log in on time for school / work. Also I personally lost my job so I was really choosing between returning my new computer for the money vs giving my nephew my old laptop free of charge. Thankfully I was able to work part time and stay afloat while still helping out my family. But personally I still haven't recovered despite returning to full time.

Education is for the Rich and Wealthy, you know this is by design and the push against getting student loans. Every person with a Degree our side of very rich people got student loans, especially Doctors and Lawyers. With the negative being played of getting student loans Education truly is being locked out. Then you have the libraries that are closing or shortened hours and then there is the ability to get to these places is another monkey wrench. I grew up with public transportation, never knew there were places that were 30yrs behind in having proper access to public transportation until I moved to Delaware in 1993. They didn't have bus service on Sundays😕😕😕 and almost 30yrs later the public transportation between Delaware and Maryland still sucks.

This is heartbreaking. Denied the richness of adventure and the ability to educate oneself further. We had phonics and reading aloud in kindergarten through grade 4. But I was reading at 3 because my single mother who went to university & also worked, spent the time reading to, and with me.

Literally happened to a friend. Her house was older and NOT in a flood zone. Developer put in condos that caused her property to periodically flood when it rained. It was loveable until hurricane Irma came through and her house got 4 ft of water in it. No flood insurance (because again, NOT IN A FLOOD ZONE), but homeowner's insurance refused to pay because it was a flood event. Turns out the permits for the condos were illegally issued because it was pretty clear what works happen to the properties on the downward slope of the ground they built up to build the condos, bus sure couldn't find an attorney to take the case to sue the county and the contractor for the damage.
