I studied Graphic Design in Bucharest, Romania and I simply love everything related to visual communication. I try to focus on Information Design because I want to design for need, not for desire. My intention is to communicate the essence of a message with minimal interventions and techniques.
The Combinophy project evolved from my passion for analog photography, a hobby which I have been feeding for a few years now. What I love most about this type of photography art are the granulation and the overall vintage effect. The project is a personal one, I did it for myself and it started as a game in which I tried to combine those old-school features of analog photography with the new digital vibe, the minimal stroke, and the pure color. I used this rule in order to create a powerful contrast in my photo manipulations between the old and the new, between a realistic view of the reality (the photography) and a minimal, iconic one (the illustration).
A photography tells a certain story, but, like a little God, I want to change that story, to mix it, to develop a new one and to make the viewer think and notice what was there before and after. The hardest part is finding the idea, the missing element. The way I made these interesting photos is pretty simple, I add a new layer with some vector strokes over the photography. I try not to do any photo editing at all because I want to preserve that vintage, realistic feel. Also, it is difficult to stop sometimes but I always remember that a simple drawing is actually more.
