‘Millennial Misery’: 40 Of The Best Posts To Make Millennials Laugh, Then Cry

The “Millennial Misery” Instagram page shares funny, relatable, and perhaps painful memes about those born between 1981-1996. So get comfortable with your favorite latte or some avocado toast as you scroll through, be sure to upvote your favorite memes and comment your thoughts and experiences below. Right? That's fûcking awesome. Why don't they do this now?
Load More Replies...My sister planted a tree when she was little! Then about 30 years later the council chopped it down. I saved one of the logs, and our dad carved it into a set of toys for her son. It's amazing how things seem to come around.
Even if the story of the tree is sad, the outcome is wonderful. ❤️
Load More Replies...My dad recently told me about some past saplings he planted over 50 years ago and they're now majestic 20-30m high trees. He planted a load of them on land that the council didn't do anything with, so he tidied it up and planted the saplings. Now the land is full of wildlife and it's a popular dog walking spot that the council maintain. Lovely to know that with some hard work from my dad 55 years ago, on land that was just a dumb is now a thriving piece of public land. I hope his legacy lives on for generations.
This brought a tear to my eye. Though my house is still here, I have to cut down at 40' tall tree that I planted over 30 yrs ago as a sapling. Dang Emerald Ash Borers!
THIS!!!! Is what we, as a society , can do to make a huge difference. What a beautiful memory.
I'm 70+. Every few months my daughter visits and plays all my old games until she gets to the top of the leaderboard on each one. Then I have to play for months to get back on top. Not fair, and she thinks it's funny - hrumph!
I play Tetris every time I'm at the grocery store and bag my own groceries. It's like I've been training for it my whole life!
I experience similar outrage when I kick my kids asses in Mario Kart...who's the noob now huh???
Instructions unclear... I dropped karate kicks on his head and now I'm doing 73,000 points on the front porch.
Tetris has taught me how to load a shopping cart, how to load a diswasher and how to pack a 4 piece band into a Subaru Impreza.
Can confirm. Looked like that when young, still look like that.
Load More Replies...Heya! Just letting y'all know that unfortunately, this picture may seem cute, but the frog has actually been killed and posed for it. Frogs can't sit like this naturally, as their lungs would face too much pressure and pain, and you can see the eyes glazed over. This is a common problem with frog photos on the internet, remember to look out for it!
How symbolic. Probably frog was already dead, when they picked it...
Load More Replies...Bored Panda got in touch with Jamie Jackson, the person behind “Millennial Misery” to learn more about the page, why it was created, and their thoughts on being a millennial. So we started by asking what actually inspired the creation of the page.
“I created a corporate meme page called @Humorous_Resources first but being an elder millennial myself, I had nostalgia content I wanted to create and share. Millennials have really experienced some pretty wildlife events growing up and we could all use a little humor to survive the trauma.”
If I could borrow my body as a teenager even just for a day, I'd be happy.
If I could borrow my 16 year old body, I'd get a lot of $hit done that I'm too old to do now! Actually, that's bull$hit! I was a lazy a$$ know-it-all at 16! Nothing would get done!
Load More Replies...I say it all the time..if I was only as fat as I thought I was 15 years ago.
And if you ever get that skinny again now, you mainly deflate your boobs and butt and have a permanent flap from bearing children... and that's why they invented high-waisted mom jeans.
Load More Replies...I once had a 22 YO say, "Back when I was in shape..." Meanwhile, I'm twice his age and more physically fit. I think Boomers and Gen Xers take better care of our bodies, but unlike Millennials, we didn't value our mental health and life balance as well. We're in shape because we worked ourselves half to de*th.
I can confirm. Saw old photos of myself and thought “why did I think I was fat back then?”
I was 5'8" (still am) and weighed 140 pounds. I thought I was overweight. I would be happy to be that "overweight " now!
Not entirely dead. I just picked up so many branded items from the last Blockbuster in the world in Salem OR a couple weeks ago. Even got my friend a blockbuster onesie for his kiddo.
Load More Replies...Lol why am I feeling nostalgic for blockbuster as someone who has never used it
... at a time. Except on double feature nights.
Load More Replies...I don't get it. For me, eating alone in school was more like "Huh, finally some time to myself".
In the school clique culture, eating alone amounts to holding up a sign saying “loser”. Or “weirdo”. At least in any school I’ve been in. Kids are so mean.
Load More Replies...pov you take a senior class as a freshman 4th period so you have to go to senior lunch
Graduated "highschool" in Germany 2002. I never had to have lunch because hours have been mostly from 7.40 to 12.55.
I had friends in school but I was always that kid who sat at a lunch table full of people and read the whole period. I was so lucky that my friends didn’t drop me. They were the best.
I went out of my way to sit alone at lunch in school. I didn't have many friends to begin with, and I only saw most of them during the summer, so it was just me and my invisible crew (I am and always have been a hardcore Trekkie, and if you don't know what that means, we can't be friends)
Naturally, we were curious to hear what they believed set millennial humor and life apart. “We (millennials) love to make fun of ourselves. From our fashion to our lack of money to afford a home from all the avocado toast we eat! Millennials have received blame for killing so many things from department stores to the doorbell – I love joking about the idiocrasy of it all.”
after learning i’m going to be exhausted everyday for the rest of my life i have been going to sleep at 8:30-9 pm every night.
Load More Replies...Reminds me of my current favorite meme. Why do I like staying at home? Because I don't like people and that's where all my stuff is.
And my silent calm place, my cold beer, my homemade lovely food, and my favorite books and video games. 😅 What else I'd need that will not cause any "problem"?
Load More Replies...I read a quote, from here(?), that said, "staying in, not going out, and going to bed early," my childhood punishments became my adult goals.
Remind them of that when they're old enough to ask to borrow your (gas) car...
Yes, they'll have to call you from a pay phone to ask to borrow said gas car
Load More Replies...meh our electric grid can barely power lightbulbs so... learn to pump gas you ingrate.
Maybe we should improve it instead of sitting around like fat, useless slugs and complaining about it.
Load More Replies...Woohoo! I went for two pooches. Huzzah for life choices!!!
Load More Replies...Remember kids, electric cars are here to save the auto industry, not the environment. Lithium ion batteries are horrible for the environment due to mining and disposal.
And fossil fuels are limited and consumable. They are also used for things that cannot be replaced with another method for storing chemical potential. It has nothing to do with the environment. This is about intelligently allocating resources we know are limited. Also, oil is worse for the environment than electric cars could ever be. It has all the same problems your strawman has, and it causes environmental hazards everywhere it goes.
Load More Replies...Cant wait til we all have electric cars in what, a decade? The grid already goes down whem theres a hotter than normal heat wave. I wonder what 50 million cars per night plugged in will do?
Because nothing will change about the power grid in a decade now that corporations are no longer going to be allowed to ignore it. Idiot.
Load More Replies...He might be right. Electric and hybrid cars already together have nearly 40% of the new car market, and in ten years or so it will be possible for a person to never drive anything other than an electric car for the rest of their life.
Load More Replies...I immediately thought of all the carpeted bathrooms 😰
Load More Replies...I remember my Mother wielding a huge machine over timber floors because the floors were not 'polished' permanently in 1950/1960's and this huge machine polished the floors once a week as well as her having to sweep them daily. The introduction of carpet was a luxury then and saved so much ti e and effort because they could be vacumned. This is the days when clothes were boiled in a copper and hand rung; all clothes and food were home-made. Massive amount of work for women who were 'just housewives'!
Thanks for this perspective. Carpeted bathrooms and kitchens are unacceptable though.
Load More Replies...and your kids will be painting over all those grey walls at some point (or maybe you will). Fashions change.
Load More Replies...Did you ever take care of hardwood floors back in the day. No. No, you didn't. Or you would know it's a whole different ballgame now with finishes and products designed to make it easier. Pictures of women on their hands and knees scrubbing wooden floors and then having to wax them aren't fairy tales. They are the reasons so much beautiful hardwood was covered with carpet.
The carpeting was to keep the noise down. I have hardwood floors, with a quiet-footed wife, a quiet-footed child, and two extremely noises cats.
We have 3 very stompy children in this house. If you are in the basement where we have hardwood above it sounds like elephants dancing. And one cat is just as bad.
Load More Replies...That was actually done by the Silent Generation. I, a boomer, grew up with carpet over the beautiful wood floors. When I bought the house from my parents years later, first thing we did was tear out the carpeting to reveal the gorgeous wood flooring.
This is true. We were babies and children in the 50's; no one asked our opinion on how to decorate. We grew up and tore all that carpet out, along with the wallpaper, wood paneling and anything avocado green.
Load More Replies...But - if you're in a cold climate, carpet helps to retain the heat, and thus not only lessen heating bills, it can be (depending on the wool/plastic ratio of the carpet) more environmentally friendly.
There can be reasons for carpet, but putting it over hardwood is certainly not more environmentally friendly and the energy savings of carpet are minimal, and often offset by extra energy used to cool during warm summers (which happen in many "cold" places). Make sure your house is well sealed, put good insulation in the walls, and use the flooring that makes the most sense given other needs
Load More Replies...Despite being, in theory, a very niche brand of content, millennial humor is wildly popular online, so we wanted to hear the admin's insights into why this was the case. “Millennials love to submerge themselves in nostalgia, I believe it makes us feel safe like we are kids again. It’s not about your political stance, religion, or race – it’s about remembering the innocence of our childhood.”
People get so lazy when a favorite theme or interest is added to one's family CV. I told one of them I liked getting socks ,once ...
Load More Replies...Until you are 20? I am still getting ducks aged 52, and I never even said I liked them
Meanwhile being a kid in a poor family in a post-USSR country is like: no matter what you say you like, you get some butt-ugly clothes (they were sold at a discount in a second hand clothes store), maybe some stationery, and if you're lucky some old toys enjoyed once by your older cousins.
This post is definitely a "First World Problems" post, for sure. A lot of the world cannot relate. I am sorry you had to grow up in that environment and hope it has gotten better
Load More Replies...I once mentioned to my mom in my late teens I thought Spongebob was kinda funny, I am almost 40 years old and still receive Spongebob stuff for all birthdays and Christmas'.
I wasn't allowed to watch or acknowledge the existence spongebob.
Load More Replies...I still love owls. Cash to buy owl-related anything suffices equally, come to think of it!
My sister likes turtles, my mom likes sun flowers, my aunt likes angels, my other aunt likes hummingbirds, just like my nana. And the only one who liked receiving those types if gifts was my nana because she knew she was old and didn't actually need things anymore, so useless things were preferred because she thought it was wonderful that everyone knew what she liked. Me? At a young age I said I liked socks. Now I get wonderful socks for Christmas every year!!!
So they'll teach us how to do drugs because "knowing how and knowing the consequences will keep you safe" but they won't teach us how sex works because "knowing how and knowing the consequence will make you do it"?
You're applying logic to conservatism, it doesn't work like that
Load More Replies...Hahaha. Underrated comment. You win the internets for the day.
Load More Replies...I was always told that, one day at a party, I will be offered my first drugs for free! I'm still waiting for this day to come (btw. I was never offered drugs anywhere, free or otherwise)

"Gruff McGruff, Chicago, Illinois, 60652--and help take a bite outta crime"
Load More Replies...My DARE instructor told us we could get high if we "sucked the air out of a can of whipped cream". At the end of the day the grocery store next to the school was sold out.
I remember hearing about "coke" for the first time: "Don't do it." "What does it do?" "Gives you confidence and energy, make you the most popular person in the room, but you'll die." "Yeah...but about the popularity thing..."
They also gave us T-shirts I assume to identify us to everyone as the lame narc kids.
Yet everyone I know myself included wore them while doing drugs
Load More Replies...My friend and I tried to steal the briefcase of drug samples when we were 15.
The way they explained lsd to 12 yr old me was funny, I couldn’t wait to try this drug when I got older, and I did, and I loved it, thanks police ❤️ I’m an artist and they said in class - if you take this Bart Simspon paper with lsd your cartoons will come to life - well f**k me he wasn’t wrong 😝
I don’t have kids so I just say “This is stupid” and go sulk in the corner
Load More Replies...I realized a long time ago that it wasn't a matter of "can't" but "won't" when it comes to learning new technology, though there certainly are points where the interfaces changed enough that anyone used to "the old way" had to put in significant investment to learn the new systems. I have had work fixing things on some of those old systems, and it takes a different kind of intuition to make them work.
That's an important distinction. I see it with my parents. They'll happily delve into something technical or complicated but only when it's something they specifically want. Offer to get them a new phone or new tablet and they're suddenly luddites. The (soft) argument I've been having with my Mum for a couple years now is about ebooks. She refuses to even consider reading them. And it doesn't matter what practical, real world examples and reasons I provide she's just never going to do it. BECAUSE! Side note: She has a decent Samsung Tablet (that I bought her) and a Samsung Fold 2 that her partner left her. So it's not even like she can complain about the screen being too small or not using tablets.
Load More Replies...I can't grasp technology because they made it impossible for me to actually own the damn things!!!
If you are interested in more humor of this type, check out their other pages on TikTok, Twitter, and Facebook. You can also find “Humorous Resources” here and the very niche Horrendous HR here. Feel free to give them a follow and remember that DM’s are open if you want to submit a meme. But despite the plethora of memes, debates about being a millennial and their “impact” still rage online.
It's pretty easy Mark. Outside pants have belt loops so your wallet and phone and keys don't accidentally make them fall down. Inside pants - no worries - because your cat does not care. -- I mean, I assume, because that's what a friend told me. Yeah, that's the ticket... it was a FRIEND.. lol
I love wearing pretty clothes anyway so what most people consider "outside" clothes I wear inside
Me too. And none of my clothes are uncomfortable, so win win
Load More Replies...Clean and dirty are the only classifications now. And that line is reeeeeallly blurry.
I have "door-pants", these are pants which are lying beside the front door for me to put them on when somebody rings the bell 😊

But then again, the most expensive Barbie set remains Divorce Barbie. It comes with Ken's car and Ken's house
Not possible. Ken doesn't work so once again Barbie would be footing the alimony and likely giving him the house.
Load More Replies...Oh, it's much worse than that. Barbie and Ken were both created by the Handlers based on their children. So Barbie's boyfriend is actually her brother. Sorry to ruin good memories.

Load More Replies...And then a few years later while doing homework for the advanced maths classes, watching dad cry. "How did math get so confusing?"
'Do your best to work it out. Your teacher will tell you if it's wrong. Which it won't be if they taught you properly" - My dad
... what the hell? I was shouted at
Load More Replies...and then it progresses to sobbing on the night before the math test trying to speed learn logarithms
Oh, do I remember that, except it was algebra and I had no idea what I was doing. I'd do the problems, my dad would check them and then get mad because they were wrong, and then yell at me to "Do them right this time"! Rinse. repeat for hours. I ended up flunking all math classes in high school and barely graduated. Eight years later (after leaving home at 17), I started math classes at the community college. I had to start with basic arithmetic and then went on to Algebra I and II, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus, Calculus A and B, and finally physics and chemistry classes. It's amazing how much a person can accomplish when their home life isn't awful and parents don't regularly scream at you and call you stupid all the time. A couple of great teachers and good textbooks help tremendously as well.
Textbooks are teachers are a HUGE factor in how we learn math. I have a bachelor's and master's in math and am a math teacher and I've taken classes with horrible professors using absolutely horrible texts and wonderful teachers with texts that explain things step by step so well I didn't even need a teacher. Even as a teacher I've complained to one school they had the worst textbooks but they refused to change them. I was constantly getting calls from parents saying the book was confusing to them and I would say even *i* didn't understand how the book was explaining it. That class I basically taught from photocopies of a much better textbook until the school FINALLY bought from a better textbook company. I'm glad you got the chance to learn in a better environment.

oh my god this. The joys of growing up before people really grasped that number dyslexia exists.
While the presence of gen x on one end and gen z on the other helps establish who millennials are in terms of age, there is obviously still some confusion for people born right at the cusp of one or another. This is where terms like “zillennial” come into play. But age is actually one of the defining characteristics of a millennial, as currently many have been adults long enough that it’s impossible to hide behind the shield of youth.
But you had a Mac as mentioned in another comment? Poor people don't have Macs. 🙄

Load More Replies...That was our son when we bought him an Ps4 game, when he didn't have one. And then. He did. 🥰
My grandmother bought a Nintendo64 for me and my brother. I didn't appreciate it enough at the time, because I didn't know she had so little money every month and still took some away each month to save up to buy us the Nintendo. Also, my mom decided soon after that it will be my brothers Nintendo64, because he's the older one and I have to ask him permission first if I wanted to play
Looking at all the consoles I got gifted, I think the NES gave me the biggest high. PS3 was a close second.
Bought one for our four kids as a collective Christmas present.. plus à small TV so they could play in another room ;-))
Actually I was stoked the Christmas I received a giant stuffed kitty. Nothing has beat that gift since. I was 8!!
This is very reminiscent of the Christmas in the 90s that my siblings and I got a ps1 kit <3
Sometimes we got it in Hungary, too. We were so scared we immediately made a copy of the VHS to warn our friends :D
I am sure some people took this as a dare. That skit started plenty of hardened criminals' careers.

I use to ride so far I'd get lost in another neighborhood. Make friends with strange kids and have fun all day. Leave hours later, find my way back home and never see those kids again. Couldn't find my way back if I tried.
and they never should - you have to let go of a bird if it's ever going to learn to fly
By one’s thirties, which most if not all millennials already are, there is this pressure to know who you are, and to have an established career and life, but let’s face it, the world has been going from one chaotic event to another nonstop for half a decade now (or longer, depending on where you are from) with the result that most millennials simply do not feel their age. This normally is a blessing, but as usual, a monkey’s paw is curled somewhere.
And then the teacher would say, as they hand out the test, "I know you can't see question #25, the printer is ridiculous, so I've put it on the overhead projector for you to look at when you come to that question." 🤣

One thing millennials can pride themselves on is being the first, truly digital native generation. While gen z may be at the cutting edge of understanding content and social media, asking them to delve into the depths of their computer will often be met with blank stares. Perhaps this skill is just not that important, but millennials have had a tough turn of the millennium, they should at least get a consolation prize.
English is not my mothertongue. So for years I thought 'recorder' meant 'tape recorder' and wondered why people needed lessons to play them.
this is the ONE TIME the picture is actually helpful!
Load More Replies...It was taught as it gave you other essential skills: great for manual dexterity, learning to read music and follow the music, the patience of playing as a group and working together, the ability to practice and practice until you knew something off by heart and also was a fun activity to break up the day of learning from books etc etc. Not everything taught in schools has to have one specific purpose- it's teaching you other more general life skills. Used to have to explain this to parents and kids all the time as a teacher.
Yup, and it's a cheap instrument so gives access to musical education for nearly everyone.
Load More Replies...I'm a firm believer that some things (like music) are important for kids to learn about even if it doesn't directly help you pay your rent as an adult. If we decide that school should be reduced to nothing but job training, we've already lost the fight.
We all had a recorder, but most of us have no idea what happened to them. One day, they just disappeared.
Many recorders get lost hidden in the owners mothers closet.

The first Sony Discman came out in 1984...just sayin'
Load More Replies...... after all, it still took a few years until smaller devices were able to play actual music instead of that noise they call "mp3". Until affordable high res players were around - about 10 years ago - a CD player still was the only means to listen to music outside. mp3 does not qualify as music, it's just noise. Could just as well not listen to anything at all. No loss.

Load More Replies...Ahh yes, 1999, that brief period of time where Columbia Music was finally wise to the free CD's scheme and Spotify had not yet been born so we had to rely on Limewire. Some of us never fully recovered from the viruses we got but those memories made it worth it.
Oh yeahhhh. And the 14.4 dial up meant it took 4 hours to download one song until you were at 98% and your aunt called and messed up the connection. I remember setting alarms to wake up in the middle of the night just to download stuff without interruptions.
Load More Replies...CDs and the ability to rip songs / burn your own CDs was such a game changer. I have made 'mix tapes' on cassette and even on reel to reel but the quality sucked. And being able to quickly skip songs you were not in the mood for was huge.
My mix tapes were decent quality. I made them for listening in the car since I didn't have a CD player for a while.
Load More Replies...There were Napster though. And we used IRC to trade physical cd's through the mail, but that was mostly movies. You haven't truly lived unless you have watched a s****y telesync movie, or a screener version with no visual fx. XD
Or a nth-generation VHS containing three fan-subbed episodes of Macross...
Load More Replies...No no no, you would go to HMV or A&B sound and spend 6 hours at the listening stations with your gift cards you got for Christmas first
You just reminded me of the countless hours of babysitting I did at 50 cents an hour in order to "splurge" on a new album after several weeks of saving my hard earned wages.
Thats why u hired it out at the library for 1$ then made a cd of it lol
Amazon used to let you listen to CD's and a few pages of books before buying.
Then to realize that all of this and even more is now available on your phone, both inside and outdoors, as long as there's a signal.
Get out the black light, and it looks like a Jackson Pollock painting.
I am sitting at a corner desk as I post - cosied up next to a radiator (R) for winter, and a view out of the french doors into the garden (L) and the canal boats at the bottom of the garden. What other way should it be?
So organized. My husband at the time made a printout in alphabetical order and numbered for all the movies we owned that were organized on all of our DVD shelves. He also had a check out system for all the people that wanted to borrow dvds.
Is it sad that as soon as I read that line, I started singing the song in my head IMMEDIATELY!?
I just introduced my son to Green Day when he told me he really liked the song that was in the radio (Basket Case) . My son is 7, and he love Green Day. I also listen to most of the albums up there still.
Load More Replies...Oh goddess, please don’t forget us Gen Xers, a few of these are genuinely ours. Yes, I’m gate keeping. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LEAVE US SOMETHING!!!
Yep, I'm GenX and had like 5 of them. grunge, Weezer, Greenday are def ours. Those guys are all our age. Probably the ska as well as that coincided w the swing revival.
Load More Replies...Thanks for the upvotes. I've been sitting on this joke since 1991.

The Gen-X / Millennial border is a a very wide cusp! I’m an early Gen-Xer and have a lot of Millennials as friends.

Remember that J Lo never worked a 9-5 grind in her whole damn life, and has a team of people to make her look 'good'. Don't be so hard on yourself.
Load More Replies...In all fairness, she has a team of people whose job it is to keep her looking that great!
Imagine being a back up dancer whose job it is to hold her up. The music rises, the energy from the crowd is high, as the song reaches its crescendo, you are the center support. With both hands squarely centered on her rear, you lift her above your head and she farts. What do you do? :-)
I felt bad for her. I figure she couldn't get out of bed the next two days and likely felt that performance for a week or more.
But then, J Lo doesn't have to cook meals, clean a house, do the laundry, etc.....
OMG I LOVED Drakkar! It was more '80s where I'm from (DC metro area). I bought Drakkar Valentine/Christmas gifts for a few different boyfriends back in the day. ;p I went to an all girls high school and all the girls would wear their boyfriend's denim jacket absolutely soaked in Drakkar.

Live in Colorado. The day before Ramsey was killed, a black girl the same age got killed the exact same way but her parents weren't rich white people in Boulder. When Lou Smit, the detective on the Ramsey case, was asked about a possible connection, he replied that they didn't have the manpower to contact the other girl's parents. Her case is also still unsolved.
The judicial and media attention enequity in this country is disgusting. Look up all the native girls and women who have disappeared in the last 2 years. We never heard anything about that. But a middle class white girl disappears, and it is public news for months.
Load More Replies...Was the just kidding comment so you don’t get sued 😂😂😂 he totally did it 😂

Load More Replies...The Murdaugh trial is about a lawyer who is on trial for the suspected murder of his wife and his adult son in 2021. JonBenet was a little girl that was murdered in the 90s and no one knows who the killer is for sure. Tons of speculation but nothing concrete. It got TONS of media attention, so much so that it was abnormal NOT to know about the case (at that time). I was a kid when it happened and even I knew about it (my mom mentioned it a few times and saw it on magazines in the checkout line)
Load More Replies...I feel that a band with an album title melancholy and the infinite sadness should be a more to the sad side...
Load More Replies...No this is so wrong. REM and smashing pumpkins should be on the sad side.
pft... there's two bands missing here that are angrier than RATM... korn and limp bizkit
No one is angrier than RATM. Rage is in their title.
Load More Replies...Sorry to mess up the chart, but NIN is so much more angry/sad than horny/sad. In fact, there should be an angry/horny overlap.
I think NIN's lyric "I wanna f**k you like an animal" absolutely supports your angry/horny section assertation. LOL
Load More Replies...YES OFFSPRING!!! BLOODHOUND GANG!!! BAD RELIGION!!! all the bands that none of my friends my age listen to!
Catherine Wheel? Weren't they one hit wonders? I have a vague recollection of them playing my student union and they sucked.
I was there for 100% of the '90s, went to tons of concerts and festivals, but I've never heard of Catherine Wheel until today. I just listened to a few audio clips of some their more popular songs. Not a fan, I give 'em 2/10.

Bologna and Ruffles on Wonderbread. Pure nostaligia. And yes, I used the jingle to spell bologna correctly.
No, No, No. This may be the 90s happy preppy (not a bad thing) girl dream bedroom, but we need the 90s grunge skater girl bedroom starter pack. Let's see, we need a Nirvana poster, definitely a Garbage or Alanis poster, and then you would have posters, artwork from friends, Polaroids or pictures, pages from magazines,, concert tickets, and random stuff that would need to cover 98% of your walls. You need some string lights, craft area where you work on weaving your friendship bracelets, music station were mixed tapes were made, multiple incense burners, a pick or drumstick from a show proudly displayed, along with a Deliah's catalog.
Deliah's!!! I loved that catalog and most of my wardrobe was ordered from that magazine!

I literally still have this😂 I only upgraded from one with a cassette player to one with Bluetooth, circa 5 years ago. Love it.
I got something similar to this when I was 13.yo from my dad. My mom was mad at him because I used to blast music so loud neighbours complaining🙃
I was a budding rock/jazz keyboardist. My parents never told me to turn down any music on my stereo of in any bands that practiced in our basement. Thanks to their support, I became an accomplished keyboardist. Always encourage a teenagers musical interests. It is a lot safer than playing with guns.
My best friend would come over with his and we would put in our Slip Knot cds and sync them while we were outside working on our bikes or doing tricks while listening lol
with what money? none of us had this unless your parents were lawyers or doctors
I just gave my whole collection of butterfly clips to my neices. Save something long enough it comes back in style.
Is it too late for me to go through that phase now? I'm not a girl, I'm in my 40's, my hair is thinning, but those ones in the top right look badass!
I remember going to an aquarium gift shop in the 90's and buying these tiny clips in pastel animal shapes instead of something related to the aquarium, lol. Still love when I run across one randomly!
... thanks for making me finish that line... and subsequently thinking about this song.
I wish I didn't recognize any of this because I can't get this song outta my head and for some strange reason I want to watch the Discovery channel??
..ain’t nothing but mammals so let’s do like they do on the discovery channel.. getting h0rney now🎶
I can still still this song damn near word for word lmao Edit: DAMMIT now it's stuck in my head
When I realize there are youngsters around here that never listened to Tears for Fears or... gaps! The Doors
Everyone at my school did to the point where I called it an emu bum hairstyle - especially when frosting came in, then it just totally looked like an emu bum
This just shows how uncool I am. I was born in 1978, graduating high school in 1996. I have never once had this hair cut, nor have I ever uttered the words "bro" or "dude"
I ripped my CDs poorly, so it was more like Track_01.mp3, Track_02.mp3, etc.
That formatting would drive me crazy. Had to be [Band Name] - [Song Name], I would spend hours renaming my mp3s.
Broke my old mp3 out last week while getting my phone fixed. The old school jams still hit me the same way, and it actually fits in my pocket.
I'm pretty sure I have this exact MP3 player sitting in a drawer somewhere
Bonus points if you wear capri length leggings under your shorts or colorful thick tights.

I'm a teenager and I had one of those when I was little and I was terrible at getting it to fly
OMG. I launched one once and it hit my dad right in the face because I wasn't holding it straight upward. He wasn't happy lmfao. Also getting it stuck in your hair was terrible had to cut a ch u nl outta mine because it wrapped around it. They were little bruise machines for sure 🤣
Before drones were cutting off the tips of people's noses, we had these.
I had this one, we had a few as kids from Xmas presents and never had an issue, no poker eyes or hair tangles etc, so surprised cos we were pretty feral kids
They were able to afford the bus fare to go and look at this nice house!
Oh s**t... people don't still do that??? Upvote for Dave! My Ohio neighbor!!!
And if you had an attack of "smart mouth" they didn't do either one!
My brother had a really thick towel that he sat on in the passenger seat. If you rode in that seat you put the towel in your lap and the discman on top of the towel. It worked perfectly to keep it from skipping except for the really bad potholes.

I had something just like the Skip It when I was a kid in the '70s. It was called a Lemon Twist. I still have a scar on my knee from the time my mom had to dig a chunk of gravel driveway out of there. Good times.
Load More Replies...These always provided minutes of fun and joy. Sometimes even 2 minutes!
Those velco circles and tennis balls were quite fun actually. Those moon boot things sucked, i rolled my ankle, twice. I didnt get better at it the second time lol
I loved my skip it! Almost broke my ankle every time I used it, but wooorrrth it!
OMG a Pogo Ball!!!! I freaking loved those as a kid 30 years ago!!!
Nice try! The only ones who can afford health care are the boomers!
Only plus was, you kept an eye on your expenditure back then - because you had to. Now the bank wants you to owe them, without realising it (at first, anyway).
This was an actual lesson in school but teaching us how to do our stupid taxes wasn't! Thanks for nothing
I just have to realize I walk through tree different supermarkets looking for the bwst price for the same products to know how poor I am. Or cheap. Or miserable. Whatever.
I worked at a bank in the late 90s/early 2000s and was very dedicated to balancing my checkbook. If it was off a single penny I'd start all over until I found it 🤣 It really did keep you in check financially though...
Ummm....I guess I'm doing something wrong. I need to know if I have enough money to buy some gas or food or pay the electric bill. 🤣🤷
Same! I remember watching it in like 2017 and they were still using the notebook
Notebook is always better bc writing transfers more to your long term memory! WTF Blue?!?!
You're telling me that the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Led Zeppelin never did a live cover of Sympathy for the Devil live?

Because Henry Ford was a racist. Seriously. Google "Henry Ford square dancing"
I learnt Scottish Country Dancing at boarding school, we competed to try to 'accidentally' hurl the Headmaster through the windows (NOT on the ground floor).
Load More Replies...Every time I think of square dancing, I think of Animorphs number 11, where they were made to square dance in school. My favorite line Jake says about it: "I promenaded, which consists of walking like a BIG HONKING GOOBER around in a circle."
Wow I didn't even know this was a thing. Yikes! Glad I missed out on that!
They forced us to do line dancing. ...at least, they tried. I flatly refused to accept such a monumental insult to my dignity and was put in time out while everyone else jerked around to the strains of Nutbush City.
fortunately not in the northern hemisphere so we weren't taught to dance at school thank god
We had to learn classical couple dances at school. I can't remember anything more embarrassing than a group of confused and horny teenagers with sweaty palms learning to waltz and tango.
Raises my had for the seventies version. Especially on Halloween. No idea why.
Not a sob story but I’m honestly to the point of getting a cheap caravan just so I can have a ‘house’ again/ it’s funny cos 15yrs ago I could afford a house on my own and wash myself in Chanel no5 body wash 😂 I laugh at the difference and laugh at how cozy and secure I was

Don't know why, your comment reminded me of when my Dad went into work wearing a white shirt, suit jacket, tie and bright green shorts on. He's retired now, but used to work as a surveyor for our local council. They didn't care what you wore into the office, as long as you could change into something more professional looking for a job.
