The truth is, it actually doesn’t nearly take as much as some folks think to create stress and discomfort.

We’ve gathered some prime and often hilarious examples of little irritations in life that aren’t that big a deal in the grand scheme of things, but can still cause headaches. Life is never as simple as one might want it to be. Even though most of us have a decent grasp of physics, as far as our own bodies are concerned, the universe still finds ways to remind us that even the most tiny little things can end up causing a lot of pain. Take, for example, the simple papercut.

The word alone is normally enough for most folks to have a visceral reaction. Some might shudder, others cringe at the idea of running a finger along the edge of a sheet of paper. For those who have never had to go through this, congrats. Simply put, the edges of paper, while fragile, are quite sharp and, as it turns out, we tend to have to manipulate paper with our hands.

One might ask, why do papercuts hurt that much? After all, there is nothing “mild” about one. Most would see it as the main tragedy of the day. In short, it’s a case where our own bodies work against us. Papercuts, mercifully, are often very shallow. The downside is that this means the finger’s pain receptors are exposed to the air without blood to help limit the pain.

Not to mention, your fingers tend to have a lot of sensory receptors, after all, we can obtain a huge amount of information from just touch. In general, this is a good thing most days. However, when cut with a piece of paper, all those helpful little receptors are screaming at our brain that, actually, there is a major issue going on here.

I've tried all the tricks for cooking and peeling hardboiled eggs and I've come to the conclusion that no one method works every time because every egg seems to be an entity unto itself. My solution is to place the boiled egg on a wooden cutting board, chop it in half with the single stroke of a cleaver, and scoop the two halves out of the shell with a spoon.

I thought that was to stop the grey ring forming around the yolk? I've honestly not found it makes a difference to peelabiity and I do it every time. If you leave them in water and shake them it will make the shell loser and easier to peel. Otherwise, use older eggs.

The solution is to immediately put them under very cold water once cooked. Once cool, shake them around in the original pan, not to roughly, but enough to make sure the shells are cracked all over. Then soak them in water for a short while (min 10 mins, max 1 hr). When ready to peel, pick off a tiny piece of the shell (it has already been cracked all over) and with the side of your thumb, almost rub off the shell. Don't dig at it. You can also use the curved end of a teaspoon, the curved end towards the shell, not the white. I've been doing this for years, the art is cracking the shell very finely and letting the cooked egg soaked for a short while.

Older eggs are better for boiled eggs. There is a little more shrinkage of the egg white from the shell which makes them easier to peel cleanly. Another possibility is to poke a very small hole in the end of the egg before boiling it.

Use slightly older eggs, (eggs that you've had in the fridge at least a week or more) start the water boiling first and then add the eggs in carefully with a large slotted serving spoon. The heat from the boiling water first touching the cold eggs as they are placed in the boiling water causes a reaction just under the shell of the egg where the egg slightly "shrinks" away from the inside of the shell and makes them easier to peel. I can even get the egg to "shrink" away when I cook poached and ramen eggs. You're welcome

Back in the 80's when I was a kid, I'd crack the egg with a knife, split it in two, then scoop with a spoon. That doesn't even work anymore. Egg shells are effed because of poor feed and too many chemicals.....that's my theory, but I'm not an egg farmer.

The only thing that has worked for me is to place the eggs in boiling water, then put them into a bowl of iced water for about 10 minutes. Ever since I started that method, I haven't had problems. Some of the eggs crack open a little in the water but I haven't had one that has been destroyed in the process.

I used to have that happen. Now that I've switched to steaming them - 1/2 to 3/4 inch of water, bring to a boil, add the eggs, cover (with heat still on) for 13 minutes, and drop in icewater. The membrane sticks to the egg, not the shell, and it slides right off.

Make sure they boil at least 15 minutes, once the water comes to a boil. Then “shock” them in really cold tap water, and shake them around in the pan. The cold water starts separating the boiled egg from the shell and that thin membrane between the shell and egg. Once they’re shaken well, you may even see some already coming out of their shells. You can then practically just slide them the rest of the way out. I’ve even had times where the shell has stayed together, but empty. Now, some may be stubborn and not cooperate, so you will have to crack them more and start picking and peeling. But once you get that membrane thing broken, the shell starts coming off more easily. I’m 63 now, and learned this about 50 years ago from a now ex-SIL who was a really good cook, though it turned out she’s a truly horrible person underneath her very practiced Suzy Homemaker facade.

Tap egg gently so that all of the shell is broken into small pieces. That stresses the membrane, a bit. Once you break that membrane, try peeling under running water. The water runs between egg and membrane and does a lot of the work for you. I have peeled eggs this way, and sometime the shell comes off all in one piece, in a spiral, even! Of course, does not work every time. Nothing does.

There are so many methods here. I'll add ours to the mix. Cook them in a preheated steamer for a longer time than in liquid water, like 20-22 minutes. After that time gently crack the shells a bit but don't peal them all the way and then soak them in ice water. Instead of the ice water cooling I've also had pretty consistent success cooling them on a wire rack open in the freezer but that takes a lot longer to cool, like 40 minutes.

Very simple and easy way to peel an egg even if it being difficult. Take one and gently fracture on open hard surface. The gently push and roll in back and forth for a few rounds and move to get ends. It should be totally spiderwebbed with cracks. This makes a sticky protein membrane practically fall off now with the shell pieces attached and a perfectly peeled egg. There are several friction methods like that to quickly and easily open.

The water has to be boiling BEFORE you put the egg in. It works better if the egg is cold. The quick temperature shift pulls it away from the shell.

Before putting them in the water, tap the larger end gently with the back of the teaspoon until you hear a "crack" - which isn't the shell breaking but the membrane detaching. Then boil as normal, plunge into cold water and peel under a slightly running tap from the large end first. Youtube has a number of videos illustrating the technique.

That looks like it might be under or over cooked. I boiled a .ot of eggs in my lifetime. On couple of occasions I under cooked my eggs and when went to peel them, this happened. When I go to peel them after I boiled them, I usually will put my eggs in cold water for a minute to three minutes to cool down. Then just hit the egg in one spot to get it cracked. Then peel it. Most times the egg shell will peel in large pieces and come right off.

Beats. So, OP paid some insane price (probably $500), for cheaply made garbage that's probably worth $10.

Vet Prescribed This Insanely Large Pill For My 25 Pound Dog

Two differently sized pills in a palm, highlighting irritating discrepancies in size.

(One of my pills also shown for scale.) To make this even more infuriating, the vet also told me I'm overfeeding my dog and need to cut back on treats... Umm sir? How on earth is having to cut one of these monstrosities into 8(!) slices like a gd pie and then serve them inside individual treats going to cut down, like at all? Did I mention she needs to have one of these things TWICE DAILY??

They Clearly Designed It For This To Happen

They Clearly Designed It For This To Happen

I’ve never once dropped my AirPods v3 without both of them flying out and going off a long way in different directions.
It’s so obvious to me that Apple have deliberately designed them to do this, in the justified hope that many of them will find their way into drains, under the wheels of passing cars etc., so you have to go and buy another exorbitant pair.

Dmc Thread Is The Same Number But Two Different Colors

DMC threads will change there dyes or something and will mark stating that with the smallest dot ever next to the number. This was thread color 602 originally but the new one I got is 602. Instead of 602 lmao. So mildly infuriating.

who says that´s the companies fault? it could just as well have been caused by rough handling from the delivery company or the stock workers in the store.

Went To A Beer Festival With Standardized Cups, Turns Out The 250ml Mark Was Only Around 227ml

Went to this beer festival with a lot of different local breweries back in December. And basically they were cheating everyone by 10%. I'm not even sure if it was on purpose or just happen because they bought the cheapest beer cups they could find with their label printed on it... But they were cheating nonetheless. Also I filled the cup slightly above the 250 mark just to be "fair". But still only 227ml at the mark.

A for “An Emu”? L for “L’hare”? Unless we’re crazy… it’s mildly infuriating that they dont all match! If we’re crazy… that’d be mildly infuriating too.

Maby because the ABC is not meant to be read in english. For instance in French, A is for Autruche, L for Lapin.
