Back in March 2018, we had to rush Oliver to the emergency vet, he was hospitalized with IV fluids; his condition was critical.
Blood work and urine tests revealed high levels of glucose and ketone bodies; he was then diagnosed with Diabetes.
Three days later, Oliver was released from the vet hospital to continue treatment at home and has been on two shots of insulin a day ever since!
Over the last five years, he’s had some ups and downs, and checking his blood sugar level regularly is vital for his well-being.

Share on FacebookMy husband and I had a senior cat (by the time I was dating him back then) who was doing zoomies all over the apartment. My husband made the comment that he had her on weight loss food for a while but wasn't losing weight. So, we took her to the vet and she was diagnosed with diabetes and hyperthyroidism. So, for the last 5 years of her life, she got 2 shots a day twice a day (insulin and thyroid meds by syringe). She was on and off insulin regularly. She had to be euthanized because she was suffering from a diabetic seizure. RIP Kitty.
So very sorry for your loss :( Oliver seems to be doing well after 5 years of insuline treatment, and although he is in his senior years ( 11 ) so far so good. Hoping for at least a few more good years!
