Katy Lipscomb is a freelance illustrator living in Alpharetta, Georgia. Her goals in life are to be a good person and to share her beautiful drawings with the world. Read our exclusive interview with Lipscomb below:
“I have a wide array of creative ideas and inspiring artists that I look up to, but I have to say that since I was little my number one inspiration has been my mom,” Lipscomb told Bored Panda. “From the moment I could hold a pencil and draw, she ensured that I had a place to create. In our first house, this was just a little nook underneath the basement stairs.”
A professor once told Lipscomb, “When you decide to call yourself an artist, then you are an artist.” As for everyone else's opinion on your drawing ideas? “listen to feedback, but to take it with a grain of salt,” advises Lipscomb. “I am mostly referring to comments on the internet, comments from family, or comments from random strangers. This kind of feedback can be helpful, but it can also tear a person down...If you want to please everyone, art is the wrong profession.”

if i could paint my cat that colour, it will be most exotic cat on Earth!
Wow...these are so terrific! I really loved the last one of the parrot!:)
Breathtaking - I live on a historic island with a strong Native American history; their spirits are still present on the island and the surrounding towns (many books and tv shows have covered this). This would be so fantastic for my home because I always try to place artifacts, pictures, statues and windchimes that show respect for their culture and that, while I live on their land, I honor and respect their beliefs and will not betray them.
This bird has a special meaning for me - you just are so good at capturing the spirit of what you envision.
One of my absolute favorites of the ones I've seen so far - love the color choices.
Probably my favorite! I can’t even say how much I love all these especially the wolves
Ohhhh - another cat - a big one this time - how sad that these magnificent creatures are disappearing from our earth. This is such an inspirational tribute to these dignified and gorgeous cats.
the patterns and the galaxy background makes this drawing one of the best
OMG! I love that UNICORN! This drawing is definitely my favorite, does she sell her work?
This reminds me of a carousel where the animals have escaped and are flying free - very unique. Love it a LOT!
I love how your choice of paper color changes th art so much. Love your work.
What a great Christmas card this would make. In fact it would be fantastic if you could make many of these into packets of cards (like 5 in a pack). Especially the ones I put comments on (haha).
Is this a serval? There are so many smaller spotted cats. Whoever he is, he is beautiful.
