How could someone be mad at this "thief"? He truly deserves to be labelled hero. Sometimes you have to do things that you normally wouldn't in order to help others but as long as your intentions are good, even stealing a truck could be forgiven.
Omas, he made a 'command decision' on the spur of the moment. And it is what combat soldiers/marines are taught to do, because it can make the difference between life and death. In this case it was a "no brainer". I don't know where you come from, but you need to seriously look within yourself.

omas can't and won't look within. He's a stinkin Muslim. That's why he said what he did...it's how they believe.
When I heard the news reporter use the word "steal" when interviewing this savior of a being, it really bothered me. He "utilized" the vehicle! Quick thinking, smart and heroic! <3
Agreed, people got so bent out of shape when reporters used the word "looting" in Hurricane Harvey. There were many people who gave up their entire life to save another including people they didn't even know. This person should have been thankful the only thing they had to give up momentarily was there truck.

Stole... Taken without permission... end of story
Unless it was left idle while the owner was trying to save someone. Not judging, 30 over 1 any day and I was not there. If only more people would just get into the action and respond vs armchair quarterbacking
Omas Bioladen how could you say that is there something wrong with you this man should be looked upon as a hero, not a thief

May I rape your sister when it saves three prison n*****s lives? That would be okay with you?
in what universe does your comment have anything to do with what they said or this story? why even say something so negative and disgusting?
What the f**k is wrong with you ? you smear s**t on this uplifting story, you pitiful f**k!
Journalist - QUIT referring to Marines as former Marines - once a Marine ALWAYS a Marine.
You join a special club when you get that Marine emblem & uniform. I served during Vietnam, I'm 70 years old ,,,,, and still a Marine. Semper Fi.
Marines are active duty, retired, or a veteran but never an ex or former.
My daddy served in the Korean War as an aircraft mechanic. He is 87 now and although a little confused and forgetful some days (Mild to mid dementia) he says the exact same thing. Once a Marine, Always a Marine. He even makes special allowances for Navy meds that serve Marine units. He says they count as Marines too. They even wear dress blues like Marines.
Didn't you read what Keith said - once a Marine, ALWAYS a Marine . . . NOT a 'former' Marine OR 'ex' Marine . . . . A MARINE . . . period!

If you are not actively doing, or at least in reserve for the profession that you're claiming, then you're not that. By definition. I don't get the marines get their panties in a bunch over this. It comes across as very insecure, like when a doctor insists that the title is somehow part of their name.
My grandfather served in the Pacific as a Marine during WW2. He was a Marine until the day he died two years ago. I imagine he's happy to be reunited with the brothers in arms he lost in Pearl Harbor.
All the time, work and training they put in, after everything they've done, sacrificed, they've earned that title. It molds who you are, everything you've learnt and done becomes you. Being a marine, or even a doctor, you've earned the right to be recognised as such.
I agree, once a Marine, always a Marine. It's more than just a title in battle, as you can see from this young man, it's a way of life.
There is also the FACT that ex-marine is reserved for someone who was dishonorably discharged. This is the vernacular of marines. It matters.
Nope. It is identity. He is a Marine. That means something, a lot of something, to him. It's like being a priest: you don't stop being a priest. And you don't stop being a Marine. You can fast-talk the language about active duty soldiers, but the moment you take on a polite little tradition like that, you'll get pushback.
Becoming a marine is a transformation that is earned, as is becoming a physician. It is an integral and important part of their identity. It is something worthy of pride and respect. Full Name, you might want to consider why something earned through so much hardship and dedication is supposed to be held in high esteem. Of course, if you are just an overall disrespectful narcissist, you will never understand.
