All these women are beautiful anyway. Why can’t that be the message? Why send the massage that they can only be queens under layers of make up? How is that any different to photo filters and photoshop?
I like tht she still looks like herself and not like a totally different person.
ooh she's been robbed of all personality here, she looks all sweet and country in the first, a total internet bot in the second.
this one is first I see so far with great improvement by underlining her features and not ridding of them totally
The snow white look wasn't really working for her anymore. She looks more modern now.
I wish they were smiling in the before photos. I think the difference wouldn't be as great then and you'd be comparing the same face.
This is annoying. Take your glasses off and suddenly you're beautiful. They do it in films all the time.
It's annoying how they all have to have cleavage showing dresses to be transformed.
Load More Replies...Is it just me or does it seem like they are using photoshop onto of the 'after' pics? Or it's a lot of makeup. They are beautiful either way but if you're going to do before and after pics, they shouldn't be altered with photoshop.
To be fair, if you choose the right glasses that complements your face, glasses can actually be a better look.
She's beautiful in the 1st pic, it's just that the photo itself is kinda unflattering, esp. because it's low quality. Getting a haircut was actually a good decision because her hair was uneven and a little bit neglected. Btw she has a gorgeous smile!
I have an impression that some people here downvote just because they are very bored, rude, or can't read with comprehension. What is wrong with my comment, seriously? She's beautiful but apparently some people think you can only be beautiful with makeup on.
Load More Replies...Obliviously none of you have ever watched a YouTube tutorial on makeup and contouring. It's her with makeup! it's amazing what you can do with it.
Helena Rubinstein said, no such thing as an ugly woman, only a lazy one. I truly beleive that. These make overs are fantastic.
Eh, photo "before" is done in bad lighting and it looks like photo for driver's licence, and also, they all look grimm on these photos. On "after" they all smile, look happy, have tone of make up and photo looks professional. So, not really. Sorry.
i know .. the article should say "What smiling, make up and professional lighting can do for your looks!" lol
Load More Replies...WHAT A BS! Photos before: bad lighting, little or no makeup, sad faces. After: tons of makeup, tons of photoshop/editing, smiles, better angles.
"The boost in one's self-esteem from a good haircut or a nice outfit cannot be underestimated. " Plus loads of make up to make women look like they are on the cover of a fashion magazine. Basically he's doing the same as all those snapchat filters and photoshoppers.
All these women are beautiful anyway. Why can’t that be the message? Why send the massage that they can only be queens under layers of make up? How is that any different to photo filters and photoshop?
“All these women are beautiful anyway.” That may be the case, but that doesn’t mean that there is no room for improvement. Also some of these women were wearing makeup before, they were just doing wrong.
Load More Replies...This article title is misleading, it is not just hairstyles but a whole bloody makeover. Some even look like they have had nose jobs, lip fillers and Botox. This is not empowering. This is telling women that you have to transform your whole self to be considered beautiful.
They need us to spent a lot of money, that's the message :-/
Load More Replies...I actually prefer, in most cases, the "original" version! tons of makeup (I'm not anti makup, I do wear it) and photoshop and they all look the same, and fake!
Articles like this one are just depressing. Most of the before pictures are lovely, these women were already beautiful. I personally hate the heavy make-up look. It's like women are not allowed to be seen as beautiful without ten layers of make-up any more.
Yeah, this post is just making me feel sad for these women.
Load More Replies...So makeup, new clothes, better lighting, better environment can change how you look? Who knew?
Did they mean to say what difference a make up artist can do? Sheesh. So much makeup. Be more natural ladies. You are beautiful.
I call bullcrap here. They not only have new hairstyles, but also make-up, clothes and jewellery. C'mon.
Why is it that every time there is before and after photos, before always look like it was taken by 1MP cell phone camera right after some on woke up the subject really early after having a really long day and snapped the pic before turning on the lights. Before is always sad and grumpy with awful pose and glasses. After would have nice picture quality, lighting, make up, a happy face, nice pose, nice clothes and without glasses. I would love to see before and after where subject's facial expression stays same with same cloths and glasses under same lighting by same photographer.
Note to self~ No more panda posts with women & make overs. Pandas become pythons (hisssssss)
what is all about this insane obsession with make up? Come on! let women be unique! I am agree with make up for parties but you can tell that a woman is more beautiful just for having make up! Women are beautiful with no make up! I don't want my daughters to think they need make up to be pretty
C'mon - this is massively photoshopped!! This is not a physical makeover so much as a digital one.
"63 Before-And-After Photos Of Ordinary Women Reveal What A Good Hairdresser Can Do".... And a good makeup artist, and a good stylist, and a good photographer. Misleading title.
WTF is with all the negative comments?! These women are Beautiful Before AND After, this had to take some courage to do this and they look happier as a result. They look different because they look Happy. Sure some is due to some contour and expert application of makeup but who the hell are we to judge? We should be supporting these women not making fun of them.
Exactly! So much negativity. These women were not forced to participate, they made the choice to change up the way they look.Their reasons for doing so are their own and its nobody business to judge them on that.
Load More Replies...This makes you think about how all those celebrities who are always plastered with make up most likely look like the photos on the left without it. We have been trained to think beauty looks like the photos on the right. We are humans, not dolls...
Holy camera filters, Batman! In all honesty I kind of preferred a lot of the original looks. While some of the haircuts are adorable, the mounds of makeup and Gaussian blur camera filters take away any originality in facial features.
Yeah... another article to make women feel like they need makeup, a professional stylist, and professional photographer in order to be good looking. Let’s start with unflattering photo scenarios for the “before” to push it even harder. I skimmed through here and most of the “before” photos look way more natural and realistic than the Hollywood nonsense “after” photos. Be who you are and f**k the culture that says you need some kind of ritual of transformation to be attractive or even acceptable.
Most of these women were beautiful before, just not "done." I see many people have this kind of treatment before a big event, party, etc.
This is horrible. Is the point that enough makeup, wigs and dental work can make anyone beautiful? And what's with having them all depressed in the before pics? F c i g smile once in a while. It does wonders for anyone.
I wonder if it's a cultural ting - didn't we recently see a series of brides with a ton of makeup and Photoshop, from about the same region? They probably look at us and think "Poor girls, you just don't know how to use makeup. I will make you look 20 years younger and then I'll use Photoshop to give you boobs! You're welcome!"
all the photos should be reversed and be called "Before Marriage / After Marriage"
why are people being so negative about this? as a lady who once found herself very unattractive, i can say for sure that looking great makes your self esteem SO much better. i used to hate my appearance, but when i made a change... it just felt so much better. sorry, but i personally like to look good- like a lot of people do! i'm also getting really aggravated that you all are posting negative comments about the lady's after-photos, which all look gorgeous. these women wanted to change- it's not some lab test. and seriously? they look great. but downvoting people who were clearly complimenting the women's after pictures (besides the ones that insulted the before pictures) is just messed up- they're compliments. this is stupid.
The after photos are so heavily filtered it's impossible to tell what the actual extent of the change is. I wish beauty and fashion photographers would be less heavy-handed with the filter and let people see what real skin looks like. Very few actual human beings have flawless, glowing skin.
The time lapse video of these transformations would be a very interesting thing to see.
Nice, but the photographer has to have a part of the "Real MVP" :D.
Looks like only 2 (maybe 3) hairstyles and a lot of make up. Personality and individuality has lost. And for older women, it means a lot of time for maintenance. Is this only for special occasions? Do they have fun doing this or worry only about their looks? Guys don't have these pressures . . .
Looks like the stylist only has 2 (maybe 3) hair styles, making these women look the same. Surely there's a loss of personality when they blend in, as opposed to making their own statement. And the older women have A LOT of make up on. Personally, I don't want to look good just to pump gas or grocery shop. Being the best looking person is nothing when there's no place to go or personality to back it up.
Oh. My. God. So many people here are not liking how they get a new look, makeup and other things. But your forgetting that those are the same goirls who walked into the salon. They CHOOSE to change them selves. It wasn't like they were forced to!
Most of the end results are very generic and very boring version of 'beauty'. It would have been better to find the true uniqueness in each model and enhance that instead of just adding lush hair and way too much dark eye make-up on everybody.
tbh.. What is wrong with people? The right ones are obviously better in general and even though it's 'fake', it's completely fine! Make-ups and hair-dos are being invented to make us look better. And NO, I'm not saying the left ones are ugly, pftt.. I mean, what can I say? Natural looks ARE flawed. How much of self-comforting does people need?
So all of these women were told by this team of makeup artists that they weren't good enough and that they needed to change to be acceptable. That's sad.
Funny how there are a lot of negative "she looked better before..." comments. Perhaps these women like the glamour shots look? It was fun, and showed them something new to do with their looks. The ladies all look like they are happy with the after, and no one ever said they weren't happy before. Sure bad lighting and no make up, etc... however, if THEY are happy, shouldn't we be happy for them too?
First of all why before pix are with a sad face? And poor lighting? Secondly in most cases just doing the hair gives a great change, and in some cases makeup helps (in few having it less) Also smile changes a lot. But all and all i think its nice that someone wants to do things like that. Just to make people feel better with themselfs
These (and other) women choose to have makeovers to feel good about themselves. They don't need catty opinions from total strangers about "you looked better before" when the subject obviously disagrees. And even if, in rare instances, this was true, do you really think blowing up someone's self-esteem makes you a better person? Didn't your mothers teach you, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all?!?
This TV show actually does a total make over. They don't only fix their haircuts, they also perform plastic surgeries, dental procedures like veneers, make them lose weight, go to a psychologist, stylist, etc etc. That's why they look like totally different people in the 2nd photo.
Some of us really do dislike like the way we look, heaven forbid we look for a different style to help us along. Yes looks aren't eveything but sometimes changing something up can help remind you that there is something worth getting up in the morning. That hey, a little happiness here on something as simple as a hairstyle and some make up can be the kick in the a*s you need to get back on your feet.
I was a hair stylist for 40 years, two people that were clients will stay in my memory for ever. One gal had the same cut and perm every six months, I cut and blow dried without a perm and her personality blossomed. The other was a guy that did the Justin Beiber swish but was way older. I cut his hair brushed it back off his face and the transformation was amazing. I changed a lot of hair styles but these two were dramatic changes.
It's fun to change up your look sometimes & glam out. It's not practical on a daily basis, though & if it isn't something you do as "you" then it looks awkward. I think most of these ladies look better in their before photos just cuz the transformation is so drastic that they don't even know who they are all made up like that. The best accessory you have, make-up or not, is your smile & if you feel good about your inside it'll show on your outside, no matter how "natural" or "made up" you are.
A lot of critiquing - unnecessary. Sometimes we get ourselves all gussied up. Sometimes we do not. Before vs After: smile -no smile. make up - no make up, lighting bad then good, better in the before... All of these women chose to take part in this. It is the fun of doing it.
Not ONE of these women looked "bad" before. I love it that they had an experience that maybe helps to remind them that they are in fact "beautiful". But what happens when they go back to their normal lives and don't have hours and money to spend to do their makeup and hair to this extent? As a society, we need to reenforce that women are beautiful HOWEVER they are...with makeup, without makeup, in the morning (with stinky breath), at night (with mascara they didn't quite get off), young and fresh, old and wise, on a rainy day with frizzy hair, on a hot day with limp greasy hair, "chubby", "skinny", "fat", saggy, firm, with spots, and without spots...women (and men) should be valued for their own merit as PEOPLE. After all, beauty is subjective. Just painting a women up doesn't make her more beautiful. It makes her a beautiful women with makeup on. Nothing more.
So, all the comments about "they robbed her personality!" or "why change her?" -- I get the point, that these women WERE fine "before" (except yay that they fixed that one lady's teeth). Still, these are GLAMOUR shots. They're meant to be made-up and fancy. I doubt highly they're going to go back into their normal lives and dress like this every day. But it's fun for a woman (at least THIS woman thinks so) to get dolled-up once in awhile, to see what you can look like if you want to be glamorous for an evening. No harm in that. None of these women had to be held down and hog-tied to get them to agree to these makeovers. They probably enjoyed doing this, had fun with the results. Again, I see no harm in that at all. (And yes, with the caveat that we all understand that we are fine WITHOUT all the frufy stuff -- but it's okay to be frufy sometimes, alright?)
The before pictures of these women were some of the grumpiest, kinda pissed of mugs I've ever seen. Like they were all in some lock up and mad that this photographer was going to make them miss a meal. And what next. All dressed up and nowhere to go. At least for about five years. And some even longer.
For this make over page, ok. But for real life, no way! The make up is so thick in real life they would look like clowns.
For centuries artists have been creating more realistic looking people simply on a canvas. There is a happy medium somewhere between the sad 'befores' and the plasticized 'afters'.
A smile makes anyone look so much better. I'm not sure why most who were dark haired were turned blonde. The natural ones are amazing but most just look a bit much.
Left before make up in bad lighting, right with make up in good lighting, we’d all look better
Over half of these after pictures look so fake. They looked better and beautiful before
That doesn't feel right; I adore the pure beauty of a woman. But if she likes the transformation, it's also ok. Pressure-derived beauty is the bad one.
If we all close our eyes here for a moment. Do we feel less beautiful?
Now can we have 62 stunning transformations for men please, Bored Panda?
This kind od project is good only for reminding us that what we see on the internet, IG, BF, on the front pages of magazinies, etc. is big lie
This whole thread is kinda dumb, its not just hair style that is changing between the Before and After. Its pounds of makeup, better lighting, and a smile as well.
What's the use? You meet woman No. 2 and wake up with Woman No. 1 ... But without any kidding: A soft make up and a nice Hairstyling will do. But if you apply tons of camouflage and make, it's what the industry will make us believe what "Beauty" has to be. I prefer the natural style of women and I guarantee: I am able to make beautiful pictures of all these women, without any make up! Make them their soul shine while the shooting and you get attractive Women without any additional stuff. But it's all in the eye of the beholder. If you like nice surfaces, choose your style.
I’ve seen pictures and very nice. Do you do African Americans hair can you?
This is horrible - unless you were trying to say that anyone can look beautiful if you slather on enough makeup, cut their hair (or add a wig), do extensive dental work on them and update their wardrobe. And what'w with getting them to look so depressed in the "before" pics? F c i g smile once in a while. It does wonders for anyone's looks.
So many negative people on here! Being a stylist is being an artist, and just because you dont agree on their choices of make-up or clothes or "bad lighting/Photoshop, blah blah blah" doesnt matter! Art is art and not everyone is gonna agree! Just look at how happy the people are after getting a new hair style or new clothes or fancy make-up, they are the ones who matter in all this. And personally the time and effort it takes to put on make-up and pick out new clothes and to do hair like this is crazy, and worth being recognized for.
If you're pretty, it's the structure of the face, not the makeup. Makeup can make you look fresher, though.
All look "better" now, but all that work, just buy a full-head mask, it's quicker and cheaper and gives the exact same result.
Looking beautiful makes someone look like a conceited b***h? Yikes, I’m sensing some strong jealousy.
