Asian Makeup Artist Can Transform Herself Into Any Celebrity Or Popular Character (20 Pics)
Some people are alarmed by how easy it is to fake anything with digital means like Photoshop, and it's hard to surprise anyone with that. But a makeup artist that goes by the name of gillianisme on TikTok shows that one can fake their identity with more "analogue" methods like brushes, mascara, and shadows, and the results are incredible. The artist can turn herself into virtually any celebrity or recognizable character no matter the gender or ethnicity. She transformed herself into the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Scarlet Witch, Kate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Chan, Edward Scissorhands, and many others, and the results are so convincing that it makes it easy to believe that there are no limits to what she can be. Her efforts started trending on TikTok, and she has received millions of likes and hundreds of thousands of followers on the platform.

For me, writing about makeup is somewhat like speaking out of school: I have no expertise, experience or even a rudimentary knowledge about it to comment on the voodoo magic happening in these videos. However, as a viewer, the results this makeup artist achieves are fairly easy to judge, as I just have to compare the end result with the original photo. What she achieves is fairly close to the source of inspiration, and how she can come so close to the real thing makes my mind explode.

Maintaining what I've said earlier about me speaking out of school, it reminds me of the makeup effects artists from Hollywood, like Dick Smith who worked on the Exorcist or the Godfather, Kevin Yagher from Nightmare on the Elm Street and other greats. Yes, the makeup artist of today's post doesn't exactly do horror makeup, but you have to admit, that being able to just deceive everybody that you're somebody that you're not is kind of spooky. The way she can transform herself into anything she puts her mind to is even more special, considering that she doesn't use the tools that are available to the Hollywood makeup artists.

Interesting fact: with the advent of COVID-19 the beauty industry went from booming to bust throughout the year of the pandemic. Though calling it a bust is somewhat an exaggeration, the beauty industry fell by 2% in 2020 comparing it to the 2% growth in 2019. As you might imagine, one of the few key reasons why might have something to do with working from home and not having to "present" oneself everyday around colleagues. However, due to the pandemic idleness which most of us have experienced, quite a few new makeup artists popped up as a way to fight the boredom.

As for more makeup related articles, you can find a-plenty on Bored Panda. Take for example this freshly published post from today about this talented Russian makeup artist. There's also an ongoing trend where skilled makeup artists like Emma Van De Peer that create optical illusions on themselves from makeup, which is considered a classic when it comes to makeup trends nowadays. And if you're tired of makeup wins, here's a fail for you: check out how one influencer tried to fake a mask in Bali, and failed... hard.
