“You’re Like A White Guy?”: This Video Of Taxi Driver Kicking Passengers Out Of The Car Over Racist Remarks Goes Viral

Unlike fictional universes, there are no superheroes in our real world. There are just good people who behave correctly, observing all the basic values of modern society.

One of these values, of course, is zero tolerance for any form of bigotry. In fact, the final victory over the manifestations of radicalism will be achieved only when their rejection enters the cultural code of all people, at the usual, everyday level.

For example, as it happened to the ordinary American Lyft driver James W. Bode, who, a few days ago, shared a dashcam video on his Facebook page, telling about an incident that happened to him.

James’ post went viral instantly, with 14K reactions, 5.1K reposts and over 6.3K different comments to date – the authors are overwhelmingly proud of the Original Poster and express their support for him.

Getting into the car, the woman made some racist remarks

So it was late at night in Catasauqua, Pennsylvania. James arrived at a call to one of the local pubs, from where a woman came out with her companion. Getting into the car, the woman said with visible relief: “You’re like a white guy?” To the surprise of the driver, she explained: “You look like a white guy? Look like a normal guy, like speaking English?”

The driver demanded the passengers get out of his car immediately

The OP’s reaction was lightning fast. He demanded that the passenger get out of the car, stating that her words were completely inappropriate, and that he would not take them anywhere. It should be noted that the passenger’s companion behaved very aggressively, insulting the driver and threatening him with physical violence.

The driver tried to stay polite but one of the passengers behaved very aggressively

At the same time, James was as polite as possible, explaining to the aggressive man that everything was on camera, and his failed passengers are simply racists. If the threats continued, the driver threatened, he would call the police.

Most likely, as the OP thinks, his passengers were the owners of the pub – at least when he asked if they owned it, they just nodded. Anyway, the very next morning, James woke up famous.

James added another post noting that everybody should really be “that guy” like he is

Later James wrote another post noting that he should not be “that guy” – just everyone should be. Speak up if you’re uncomfortable with it because it makes them uncomfortable, as they should be.

Lyft expressed support and announced a personal meeting with James to show thanks to him

Lyft expressed support for its employee, noting on its official Twitter that they are very grateful to James for upholding their no-tolerance anti-discrimination policies. Lyft representatives also promised that they would get in touch with both the unlucky passengers and the driver himself – just to show their thanks to James.

People online supported James unanimously, both on Facebook and Twitter

Most commenters, as we have already said, absolutely supported the driver in his zero tolerance for racism. At the same time, people note that sometimes there are situations when, in response to racist jokes, white people simply laugh or remain silent, thereby unwittingly encouraging racism.

As one Twitter commenter correctly put it, this is exactly what is needed to confront white supremacy: white people making other white people pay for being racist.

I've been to this bar once. It's a biker bar and they were not kind to the minorities that were there that night I went. I even left a one star review on their google page bc the staff totally disregarded a black women that was being harassed. This was about 4 yrs ago. My friends and I were leaving so we stood outside w her while she waited for her ride. I felt so bad for her. It was the first time I was there and it was just bc we were hungry and driving by. The food wasn't great either just regular fried food that a hole in the wall bar would serve. There was an actual hole in the wall in the bathroom too!

Yep, one of the reviews in the post says they were 'complacent' to the treatment shown to minorities and I'm thinking yeah, they weren't complacent, they were perfectly fine with it because they agreed with it.

Their yelp page is hilarious now. They cut off the reviews but people managed to find a section called the notes section and they posted this video like 400 times.

Good on him for standing his ground, it's small acts like this that speak out against racism. Far too many people in this situation would ignore this if it didn't concern or discriminate against them. This is absolutely amazing on the drivers part.
