One of the worst feelings in the world is having your beloved pet run away. You’ve no idea where they are, what they are up to, whether they’re okay or need help. Rachel Howatt is well familiar with this feeling.

Last December, Rachel’s husky Koda got loose and ran away. She searched the woods nearby to her house but to no avail. Then eventually, after a couple of days, Koda came back to her house in Manitoba, Canada as if nothing had happened. But as cameras later revealed, she was up to an adventure.

“We definitely searched for her, but in the end, she just came back. She is really smart, so I didn’t doubt she could find her way home,” Koda’s owner later told the media. Fortunately, the husky came back well and alive. However, several days after Koda had returned, her owner decided to check with her neighbor. Apparently, the neighbor had a trail camera in the woods by their home, so she decided to check with them to see if Koda had been spotted.

As it turned out – they did

Not only did the cameras pick up Koda, but they also picked up her new, unlikely friend – a male deer. The buck can be seen huddling up next to the husky, as well as eating and napping with her. For the entire evening, Koda can be seen playing and just spending time next to the buck who didn’t seem bothered by her presence at all.

But Koda wasn’t alone

“It was quite something,” Rachel told the media. “Based on the time they spent on the frame, it looked like they spent over 12 hours together. There’s also another photo where there’s two bucks in the picture with her.”

Wow, that seems incredibly unlikely. You would think the deer would be more concerned about the wolf shaped animal that probably smells like humans.

Wow, what a unlikely pair. I'd love to see an animated movie or a children's book about them going on adventures

But they did go on adventures :) I wonder if maybe your kids would like stories that you make up about these 2 animals. Maybe you could invent one per week and show them this article and then tell them stories about them. that way they will associate real life with wonder rather than them thinking that only wonder comes from disney. Worth a try.
