I Use My Lips And Lipsticks To Create These Paintings

My art is LITERALLY made with LOVE! I’m a lipstick artist utilizing 100% lipstick and my fair share of kiss prints in every piece of art I create. My brand, ‘Lipstick Lex’ is a non-traditional contemporary art brand/business that isn’t just producing eye-catching conversational art, but spreads a positive message of love, merriment, beauty and feel-good vibes all around.

While kissing my art is no doubt a laborious technique, I believe love is infectious and something the world needs more of, so I’m spreading the positive message through my art!

I supply fine art originals to the high-end art collector as well as manufacture prints for the everyday art appreciator!

Another muse of mine! While Frida Kahlo has been the subject of many artists, never before has she been created out of kisses

Mambo (Madonna)

I find Madonna to be incredibly inspiring. She’s incredibly brilliant and strong. I created this piece after being moved by her 2016 Billboard, Woman of the Year speech, and recently sent this to her… Madonna, I hope this piece was well received. I’m on this #revoloutionoflove march with you!

All of my pieces are fixated to frames that are built by my husband and I. All details are accounted for!

Lipsticks

While I use many brands of lipsticks, MAC is generally my go-to, for their awesome quality, large color palette and one of the many animal cruelty free brands out there. I strive to stick to those!

Kisses, kisses and more kisses

Some works require up to 100 kisses while others that I have done have THOUSANDS!

Work in progress

I paint with lipsticks as often as I apply my kisses. The “painting” part provides me with breaks from kissing!

Is there anyone that doesn’t smile when they here this little diddy!? An image made with the love and the lust that we all feel to be in the warmth of the tropics.

My studio

Located in Sarasota Florida, my studio is my “she shed”. It’s my happy place where I create and develop my business and build my brand daily.

Quality control!

I am a mother of my 4 year old daughter, Rue, and my little guy right here, Lonnie. While Rue goes to school while I work, Lonnie hangs with me daily in the studio while I create art and do business.

My palette

Lipsticks come in just about every shade imaginable! Folks often think I work with paint when they see blue’s, green’s yellow’s etc. Here’s proof that I use 100% lipstick!

Kissed portrait of Marilyn Monroe

I have created many portraits of Marilyn Monroe. In fact, she was the seed that started my journey as a lipstick artist! I used to specialize in realism oil portraiture, however, back in 2011 I was challenged to create her portrait using a non-traditional technique that would correlate with her. After a lot of brainstorming, the idea of lipstick and kiss prints was born! I have been commissioned to create Marilyn utilizing my lipstick technique numerous times, however, this particular piece continues to rank as my fave!

Awesome! I always thought that lipstick could be interesting used as an artistic material- Maybe like oil pastels, but softer? anyway, this art is so special! You can literally see the kiss marks. The emotion these people were painted (Drawn? Marked? Smooched?) with is incredible. Very nice!

Thank you so much!!! Yes a lot of heart and soul being poured into my work no doubt!.. Lipstick is lovely to work with kind of a cross between working with oils and oil pastels for sure.

Hey Gabriel! Thanks! I use an epoxy resin to protect my work from UV damage and smudging. The blow torch is used to remove any air bubbles after pouring the resin, leaving it with a glass-like finish!

Thank you Kay! I appreciate your kind words... Because the lipstick doesn't totally dry, I coat each piece in an epoxy resin to prevent it from smudging and fading :-)
