Photographer Shoots Angry Lion Photo Moments Before It Jumped At Him To Attack

Atif Saeed, a nature photographer in Pakistan, just had a close encounter with a wild cat and captured it all on camera! A lion at a safari zoo park near Lahore locked eyes with the photographer, and right before the wild animal charged at him, he managed to capture these menacing and stunning photos.

According to Saeed, he got out of his jeep to take a few photos of the big cat, but the lens’ sound attracted his attention. “I was thinking – I must show the character and status of the lion and this was the only way I could think of to achieve this,” Saeed told the Dailymail. The dangerous animal approached as few as 10 feet before it jumped at the photographer and he scrambled back into his jeep.

I was sitting in front of him just near my car, and the door of my car was open. I have sat on the ground a few feet away, so he was treating me like his prey… I was laughing at that time, but now when I think back about the lion attack, I don’t think I would be able to do it again. It was a pretty close encounter.

Though wild animal attacks might be lethal, the lion pictures that Saeed took, look absolutely amazing!

I don't think he was as close as he reckons. If that jumped at him while he was sitting 10 feet away he'd be dead. 30 meters more like.

I think he deserved to be eaten. But then they'd have to kill the lion. So, I would rather see him admonished.

Hello? It is a wild animal and you had no protection. Lucky to be alive, I would say. No shot is worth losing your life over.

I call this stupidity - just to get a “wow” image you have not only risked your life, but also put the animal under stress. Enjoy wildlife inconspicuously and follow the principles of “Live and let live” - please take this with a pinch of salt !!!!!

WOW the lion must´ve thought the photographer´s really one of his preys, but it might also be he felt disturbed during his "beauty sleep" and got angry???

Atif, you have nerves of steel, and those are some of the most awesome big cat photos I ever seen. And at 70, and being a big cat fan, I have seen a lot of them. My encounter with a male African lion was much more of a fairy-tale nature -- I got hugged and pulled to the ground by a big guy that just wanted his chin rubbed and some cuddling. But those cats are insanely strong -- I would have been hurt had I resisted. BTW, he was not treating you as prey, or viewing you as inferior. He saw you as a challenger or a threat, and tried a preemptive strike. Of course, results would have been just as deadly if you'd been slower.

The guy took a chance. From the looks of it, it could have cost him serious injury or death. I bet he needed to change his shorts after that.

And, I didn't think the male lion sought the food.....isn't it just the lionesses that do that and they bring them to the Lion who eats the prey, heartily.

Don't know what a lion thinks he's getting when he attacks a human, especially with all that gear. How could we humans look delicious to him or, especially, a mountain lion. We are, at least taller than they are. Of course, we don't have the plain, old strength to fight them off. This photographer, an expert in his field, was smart. He escaped into his car. Unlike the tourist woman who opened her door or window on the car and was dragged out and killed by a lion. May she rest in peace, 'cause she sure did not have a peaceful death.
