Lindsay Lohan gave a delightful nod to her iconic breakout movie, The Parent Trap, with a little help from Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.

The queen of early 2000s cinema took her fans back to the past by recreating her 1998 characters Hallie and Annie from the much-loved movie. Lindsay was only 12 when she played the identical twins.

The clip shared on TikTok captured the 37-year-old actress offering Jimmy some Oreos right before another version of Lindsay steps out in her Annie aura, dressed in a Camp Walden t-shirt with a British accent to top it all off.

“At home, I eat them with peanut butter,” she said as Jimmy grew flabbergasted in the background.

“That is so weird. So do I,” the first Lindsay said, pulling out a jar of peanut butter from her handbag.

“Alright, so I’ll see one of you out there,” Jimmy said before letting himself out.

The actress appeared on The Tonight Show and spoke about how the classic hit film is still loved by people today. She also spoke about her Freaky Friday co-star, Jamie Lee Curtis, while on the show.

Not only did Lindsay take fans on a trip down memory lane with her homage to The Parent Trap, but she also gave the world exciting news about a Freaky Friday sequel now officially in the works.

So yes, a part two to the widely-loved movie — which itself is a remake of a 1976 film — is on the cards about two decades after the release of the first movie in 2003, according to Lindsay, who also noted that Jamie will be a part of it.

Lindsay was asked whether fans could expect a Freaky Friday sequel during an appearance on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live.

“It is,” she replied.

The actress did not put a timeline to the movie or hint at what stage the movie production is in.

“I don’t want to say too much,” she said but suggested that Jamie was onboard as well.

“We’re both excited,” Lindsay told the talk show host. “I’m gonna speak for Jamie.”

The Mean Girls star also confirmed in an interview with People that the sequel is “in the process.”

Although she didn’t provide further details, she said she’s “just excited to work with Jamie again and see how much further [they] can take it.”

“Because we talk almost every other day, in general, so I think we’re going to have a lot of fun with this,” she told People.

Lindsay and Jamie have previously enticed fans with the idea of a Freaky Friday sequel.

“As I went around the world with Halloween Ends, people wanted to know if there was going to be another Freaky Friday,” Jamie told the New York Times last year during an interview she gave with Lindsay.

“Something really touched a chord,” she said about the movie. “When I came back, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like there’s a movie to be made.'”

Lindsay seemed to agree, as she said they were “both open” to making a sequel.

“We would only make something that people would absolutely adore,” the actress added.

They also shared with the outlet some of the parenting lessons they took away from their 2003 movie.

“To have more patience,” Lindsay said about her takeaways from the film.

The actress, who became a mother to her first child, Luai, with her husband, Bader Shammas, in July last year, also said, “You want to let them explore and live the way they need to live — with boundaries.”

For Jamie, it was about learning to “suspend the judgment, open the ear, [and] listen more.”

“Also, as a parent, we’re sizing up all the time: shoes, clothes, foods. It’s all future thought. My lesson from Freaky Friday was to be where your feet are,” said the mother of two.

The film Freaky Friday is based on the Mary Rodgers’ novel from 1972, which led to Disney making a film in 1976 with Jodie Foster and the late Barbara Harris. Another movie based on the same movie was made in 1995 with Shelley Long and Gaby Hoffman before the Lohan-Curtis remake, which is reportedly the most commercially successful version.

Mark Harmon, who played the love interest of Jamie’s character in the 2003 movie, also shared his views on a Freaky Friday sequel last year during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

“Yeah, I love Jamie!” Kelly said as they discussed the movie.

“I do, too. And I’ve known her since she was 15, and if she’s talking about it, then it’ll happen because all things happen,” Mark said.

Fans were absolutely thrilled when Jamie teased the idea of a sequel as she posted a selfie of herself with Lindsay in November last year.

“Too late. YOU GREW UP and SO BEAUTIFULLY! Well, it’s Friday, and the strike is over so hopefully, we can switch places again in the near future!” Jamie wrote in the caption, tagging both Lindsay and Disney.

“YESSSS I AM SO READY FOR THIS!!!! I adore you both!!!” fans commented on Jamie’s post at the time.

“Love this movie, and the casting was top tier. Can’t imagine anyone else in these roles. Impatiently waiting for the sequel,” another said.

One fan offered a movie plot in the comments section, saying, “If I were the Producer of the sequel,  I’d make sure Lindsay’s character has a teenage daughter of her own–and turn it into the First-Ever 3-way Body Switch movie that Includes the grandmother (Jamie Lee Curtis)……… and also important, create a great role for JODIE FOSTER (the OG daughter of the OG “Freaky Friday”)”

“I didnt know I needed it but now I cant live without it!!!” one fan said.

Jamie also used another occasion last year to tell the world that a Freaky Friday sequel is on the way.

“It’s going to happen,” she told Variety during the Producers Guild Awards last year. “Without saying there’s anything officially happening, I’m looking at you in this moment and saying, ‘Of course it’s going to happen.’ It’s going to happen.”

Now that the much-awaited sequel is on its way, fans must wait to see whether history will repeat itself in the next movie or whether the pair will face some new freaky challenges. Either way, it’s likely to be a hilarious and heartwarming journey.
