The Rock Gifts A $30k Truck To The Man Who Took Him In As A Homeless Teen And “Changed His Life’s Trajectory”
We’re used to seeing Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as a man destined for success. I mean, the guy is a third-generation superstar in WWE history and the highest-paid male actor who earned a hard-to-imagine $87.5m from the 1st of June 2019 to the same date in 2020.
But it turns out that the legend himself had a humbling beginning. Dwayne recounted the moment his lifelong friend Bruno took him in as a homeless teenager on not one, but two separate occasions. Bruno was also the one who bought Dwayne a car with his last 40 bucks. “Bruno could’ve (and should’ve) said hell no, I’m not takin’ in some kid who I don’t know. But he didn’t,” Dwayne wrote in his viral post. And the two have been inseparable ever since.
Thus, right on time for the new year, the wrestling megastar decided to thank Bruno. In a small clip taken from the upcoming TV series Young Rock, Dwayne invites his lifelong friend for one big surprise.
“I want to thank you for buying me my first car from that crackhead, and now I have the opportunity to tell you this is your new car,” announces Dwayne, pointing to the $30,000 Ford F150. See the full heartwarming clip below that will make you like The Rock even more.

For those who’re wondering who Dwayne’s lifelong friend is, Bruno is a former wrestling manager. He worked under the title of Harvey Wippleman back in the ’90s and first took Dwayne in when he was aged 15 and homeless.
In a touching video, the former eight-time WWE Champion explained that upon his eviction off the island in Hawaii with his mom, Dwayne was sent to Nashville. It was there where his dad was supposed to be waiting for them to live together, but that was not the case. Instead, Bruno Lauer, whom Dwayne lovingly calls “Downtown Bruno,” took in the stranger kid to live together in a trailer.
As you could expect, Bruno became very emotional upon seeing his newly gifted vehicle. The Ford, which retails at around $30k, was slightly more than Bruno’s last $40 he initially gave Johnson for his first car. The Ford was a symbol of their everlasting friendship that, as life goes, came full circle.
And this is what Dwayne had to say about their very special friendship

Share on FacebookOh my gosh, people on here complaining about the guy not wearing his mask right and the rock making a big "media presentation" please get a life! Was that the only message you took away from this whole post? You didn't take away selflessness, or love, or kindness or sacrifice or remembering where you're from (your roots & origin) when you're at the top? Wow! You lot amaze me! Here is a man doing something back to repay in a way someone who was there for him when he had absolutely nothing and you lot trivialize the whole goddamn intent of this post?! Mind-blowing!! This world would be a better place if people would get off their arses and actually do their bit to make a positive impact in others' lives. Shame on you lot!!
It is a great story, BUT many people idolize him and the ignorant ones may see this as The Rock being ok with incorrect mask wearing, which can be very very dangerous.
