Garbage Truck Hits A Parked Car And Drives Off, Witness Leaves A Note Offering Footage Of The Accident
Good samaritans are the unsung heroes who live amongst us, waiting in the wings to help us when we didn’t even know we needed it. Leaving your car parked, especially on a city street, can require a solid amount of good faith. There are so many opportunities for someone to damage your car and when you aren’t there to catch the culprit in action, well, you are simply out of luck – but not always.
In the case of one innocent car, there was someone nearby to not only witness the incident but caught it on camera. Check out how a kind stranger took their time to help out a fellow car owner.
Owner of a car returned to find this note left from a stranger
The dumpster left a sizeable dent
Later the owner shared the video he received from this kind stranger
In the video, you can see a large orange dumpster fall to the side and hit the car
According to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, “Environmental factors such as lighting, roadway geometry and location of the crash have been shown to be associated with the likelihood of hit-and-run crashes. In general, the greater the visibility of a potential crash, either through more potential witnesses on heavily trafficked roads or better lighting conditions, the less likely a hit-and- run will occur.”
Data from Google. U.S. showed a massive uptick in wholesale shipments of dash cams from 2017. It’s “a huge consumer-led trend,” Google’s 2018 Automotive Trends Report noted, “Consumers feel supported on the road with a second set of eyes. They want protection, as well as proof, in case of an incident.”
Dash cameras begin recording directly onto an SD card when the car is started and some are professional enough to record sound, in nigh mode and even with incorporated GPS. Prices range from less than $100 to more than $400. Footage from a dash cam can provide sufficient-enough evidence in a road accident claim. “It takes all the guesswork out of it,” says attorney Jason Abraham with the law firm Hupy & Abraham.
People applauded the stranger for their good deed

Share on FacebookI was fortunate enough to have a married couple that not only stuck around when a woman got out of her car and slammed her drivers side door into my brand new car, but called the cops when they told her to wait by the car for me and she told them to "f*** off." She got nabbed for trying to leave the scene by the cops....who also had a conversation with her about the fact that she walked away from her truck, in 90 degree heat, with two dogs locked in the car and no windows rolled down.
Similar happened to me. Lady behind me was texting and rear-ended me while I was at a dead stop. I had just gotten off a 12-hour shift and had a one hour commute to get home. She kept asking me if it was ok for her to give me her details and leave because she had things to do. I kept telling her to call law enforcement and ask them. I didn't know if it was ok for her to leave or not. But it was really pissing me off. I not only had a long drive home but I wasn't going to get much sleep because I had another 12-hour shift that night. She was acting like it was me ruining HER day.
Load More Replies...I had a note left on my car while I was taking my daughter to dance practice. A teenager happened to scratch the entire side of my car with her bag when heading into class. She left a note apologizing profusely and her number. I was happy she was mature enough to leave a note, I'm sure she was quite upset from the number of "sorrys" written. I showed my husband when I got home and he was able to complete buff it out. I called the number immediately thanking her for the note and telling her that she was a responsible driver for telling me and that the car is fine and it came right out :) Hope her parents her the message too.
That is such a positive story to hear ^^ And so kind of you to reward her honesty by not demanding any money from her.
