40 Times Rats Were Caught Being So Charming, As Seen On This Dedicated “Legalize Rats” Twitter Page
Let's do a little thought experiment - imagine the five most disgusting animals to you. Now let's think about which extremely common animal is most likely to be in the top five for almost every person? That's right - a rat!
Indeed, the global culture for centuries has been very unfair to these fluffy hairballs with nice bare tails. Yes, in the old days, rats carried lethal diseases, but they didn’t do it on purpose! And now let's remember at least some old pieces of art where a rat was portrayed as a good guy! Don't try, you just don't remember!
But in fact, rats are very cute and really smart animals. And there's a wonderful Twitter account called "The Rat Review" which posts memes and images that are meant to glorify rats in the face of humanity.
Today the page has around 52K followers, and we are sure that after the publication of Bored Panda's curated list with its best pictures, there will be even more followers, and the army of rat fans in the world will also grow.

I have five (well 2 have passed in the last two weeks) so now three and they delight me every day with their smiley faces, silly ears and nibbly noises when they are happy. Called bruxing. A totally amazing pet!
I had a pet rat that looked like this once. I named him Axl and he sat on my shoulder all the time I had him out of his cage making affectionate squeaks in my ear. If I let him out in my room to exercise he would just want to be with me all the time instead. It's been over 20 years and I still miss that big dude so badly.
Myth debunked, it weren´t only the cats who caused the #ToiletPaperCrisis2020 LOL, some dogs or - like here - rats were also involved. 🤣🤣🤣
It is not true that rats abandon their babies almost as soon as they learn to eat and crawl on their own. Mother rats are very caring, and sometimes even carry their offsprings on their backs - especially if they sleep so sweetly. Rats are not in vain used by scientists in their research - they are really very smart and quick-witted.
In fact, rats are quite easy to train, and become true friends for their owners. They especially love it when their fluffy tummies are scratched (however, rats are not alone here - who in this world does not like to have one's tummy scratched?)
I had to look up 'that painting with the finger pointy thing' to make this reference cuz I didn't know what it was called images-87-...d73f7.jpeg

LOL I loved geometry at school, but not the rest of maths. When we arrived at sinus, cosinus and logarithms it all made so no sense to me anymore. You do not go to a store and order a sinus of bananas, you order a pound of banans for a certain price.
This one made me burst out laughing! What a wonderfully doofy baby!
I feel that, spinach has never been my favorite

Rats keep themselves as clean as cats. But you have to get two, same gender.

Probably the only work in modern popular culture depicting a good rat is the famous Pixar's cartoon 'Ratatouille'. But even here there is room for a really sad fact.
Actually for the truthful display of rotting vegetables and fruits on screen, Pixar studio employees collected a whole garbage heap, which, of course, attracted many live rats. So, after filming 'Ratatouille' the staff ruthlessly called in the deratisation service... Definitely, this Twitter page with cute rat memes should have appeared even earlier.
Awe they look like little Dwarf ratties...the ears...dying. Best pets ever.
These little creatures have big personalities…I rat-sat for a friend and I was so enamored! Unfortunately, they live for only a couple of years.
Blursed image. This is the type of thing I have in my camera roll.
They don't poop where they sleep, so you just have to let it go potty from time to time and there will be no souvenir.

Look at those eyes, it's old fashioned infrared wireless.
Oops, that is not my computer mouse, it´s much too fluffy. Apparently you should always watch what your doing at your computer...
In my years of combing through BP, never has that word been more aptly applied than here!

Sing us a song, you´re the piano rat, sing us a song tonight
Oh yeah, there is another famous rat in popular culture. This is an outstanding martial artist, as well as a connoisseur of the Renaissance art, named Splinter, who became the teacher of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It was Splinter, by the way, who gave the turtles their world-famous names.
I had a rat with that name bc he always sat on my head
Load More Replies...The one on the right is (in my eyes, at least), the perfect rat; the one on the left…not so much!
The one on the left sparked a horrible suspicion... so I googled, and yes, they do exist... furless ("sphynx") rats. 😕 (Edit: By "horrible" I don't mean they're ugly. Just, why do humans create such unnatural breeding)

The hands are begging to PLEASE get it out of that silly thing....
You do know that there is a law against overloading animals, don’t you?

I mean similarly applied pressure does work for cats & dogs so maybe?

A bowl of peas in water is a really great way to keep rats cool in the summer (although they can be considered cool all of the time)
I put a small jar filled with ice in with my rat during a hot summer. I think he liked it because he tried to cuddle it when he was asleep.
Load More Replies...Great job! It doesn’t look photoshopped, but I’m not sure this is actually possible without it…
I'd say the masking and outline of the cards to fit in their hands is done great, but I'd say they are a bit too bright compared to the lighting in general and thus stand out a bit too much.
Load More Replies...My mum used to be a cabaret singer on weekends and as a treat on the way home would get a bag of cheese balls (basically round Cheetos). We also had a Ratty called Ben who would hear her come home with the bag and run down his ramp and up to the edge and stand on his hind legs and beg for them. He didn't want to come out of his home, he wanted us to bring them to him so he could select the ones he wanted and stash them in his little hide holes and then snack on them over night. Hearing him shaving one down with his cheesy paws was so cute. I love rats, I just wish they lived longer :(
How is it posing so patiently for the pic without being tempted to eat???
Look at its belly…I think it’s fairly well sated!!!
Load More Replies...It's a mod called Rats. It's so good! Highly recommend

They had this same episode on "Lost." (SPOILER ALERT) Rat escapes and marries Jack only to realize they were dead the entire time on the Island.

If you have rats, here's a really fun thing you can do: get one of those long paper bags they put bottles of booze in, and hang it up inside the cage with a bulldog clip or something like that. In a matter of minutes you'll have zero rats in sight and a bag moving around like it's possessed. It's so funny. And then they get to enjoy tearing the bag to pieces and scurrying back to the nest dragging huge pieces of brown paper in their mouths. 😆
Giving them things like this is so important. They are intelligent and social and need stimulation..
Load More Replies...Yes, boys are big squishy couch potatos. Girls are more active. Both equally loving. Much less stinky than mice.

Load More Replies...Rats are so stinkin' cute!! Years ago I got one by pure chance when some a$$hole left her on a trail and quickly drove away - the poor baby desperately ran after passerbys for help, clearly used to being handled and NOT used to the great outdoors! I picked her up and took her home with me. Presented her to the vet next day for a checkup - turns out she was rather old already and maybe a lab rat - therefore I spared her the stress of getting to know new (young) rats. She still lived her best life for almost another year before one day she just dropped dead without any sign of illness in advance.
I once rescued about six pet rats who had been dumped in a drain and left to die by some heartless scumbag. >:( I was able to find new homes for all but two of them, who I kept. I also rescued a big cuddly boy who had likewise been dumped and was living in some lady's woodpile. She was terrified of rats, but compassionate enough to notice how he kept walking up to her like he was asking for help. Her daughter knew my mother and therefore knew I was a "rat person", so I was asked to come and take him away. I found him in his sad little nest in the woodpile, and reached down there thinking he would bite me or run away, or both, but no - he started sniffing my fingers as if to say hello and let me pick him up! I took him home, and he was so starved his skin was hanging off him, but right away he was trying to climb onto my shoulder. I soon had him well fed and in good health and we were the best of friends. He suddenly died a few months later, but I never forgot him.
Load More Replies...When I was a kid, I snagged a new born rat some stupid kid brought to school. Mom carried him around in her shirt pocket while I was at school. One time we peek in and he's on his back, sucking his thumb and holding his tail like a blanket in the other hand. His name was Rocky and he was the best! Lived to almost five.
Pet rats are totally underestimated, actually rats make great pets for kids because, differently than the nocturnal hamsters or the shy rabbits, guinea pigs, degus or chinchillas, they love the interaction with their humans, and they can be potty-trained and can learn a lot of tricks, like "play dead", "stand on your hind legs" and so on, they love to learn new tricks. Some of my Facebook and Twitter friends have rats, and theirs are all potty-trained, they use a kind of tiny litterboxes and do not pee or poop around anywhere else.
