Someone Found These 2 Huskies Abandoned At A Dog Park With A Heartbreaking Note

While other pups were running and playing with their owners at Woodward Dog Park in Fresno, CA, two 1-year-old huskies named Jada and Leyla sat alone and afraid. They had been abandoned there, left with nothing but a box of food, some toys, and a solemn note pleading for the husky dogs not to be split up. When park manager Mona Ahmed got the call, she was there right away and learned from bystanders that the poor abandoned animals had been there for 3 hours, which already posed a risk to their safety. “They could have jumped the fence and gotten hit by a car,” Ahmed told The Dodo. “There is a very busy road right in front of the dog park. The speed limit is 50, but people go 65 or more.”

Luckily, Jada and Leyla are now in the care of a loving foster mother and are searching for a forever home. For Ahmed, however, it’s a bittersweet victory, as it speaks to a persistent problem. “This makes me feel angry. This is not the way you give your pet dogs away. All they had to do was ask for help,” she stated.

If you find yourself in a situation where you can no longer care for your pet, do right by them and contact your local animal shelter. On the contrary, if you’re looking to expand your family, find out how you can adopt Jada and Leyla by contacting Mona Ahmed’s non-profit organization, Fresno Furry Friends.

Someone at a dog park in Fresno, CA, recently came across a box of dog food and toys

There was also this note

They belonged to 2 husky sisters named Jada and Leyla, who had been left scared and alone by their owner

Park manager Mona Ahmed came as soon as she could, and realized the poor girls had already been in danger

“They could have jumped the fence… There is a very busy road right in front of the dog park”

Luckily, the sisters were rescued before harm came their way, and have now been set up with a foster mom

Despite Jada and Leyla’s success story, Ahmed remains infuriated by those who dispose of pets like objects

Not enough information for me to feel angry. Sad, absolutely, but just as bad things happen to animals, bad things happen to good people. For all we know, leaving them abandoned in a park with that note might have only been giving them a better chance for a better life. It's hard to believe, but assuming that we would have done any better in their situation just because maybe we think we love animals more than this owner did, is only going to contribute to a world of anger.

We found one of our dogs tied to a tree outside a mental facility where my husband worked security. No food, no water, no note. It was late at night and nobody in the facility claimed her. My husband gave her water and went to work. When my husband got off work the next morning, she was still there, so he brought her home. She had a bad case of heartworms, we lived in an area rife with poverty, and there wasn't even an animal shelter that served the area, but the vet always took in heard-luck cases and leaving an animal to just die slowly tied to a tree is inexcusable. At least these people left food, toys, and a note and left the dogs in a place dog lovers frequent.

Angry.......No. Sad, yes. Clearly Ahmed doesn't understand that some people are to proud or to ashamed to ask for help. Or just unsure of the role of a animal shelter, they might have believed the dogs would be put down. It is sad, but it could be much much worse.

I volunteer at a shelter and see many desperate people ask for help and get turned away. I ended up with a tomcat because the owner's landlord was forcing her to get rid of him, and the shelter had a wait list several weeks long! Don't know what she would have done if I hadn't taken him. Asking for help doesn't always help, sadly.

I'm surprised the owner abandoned them, because Huskies are a breed that's popular and people will pay nicely to get two healthy Huskies like that. Makes me extremely curious about the circumstances, because if money was the issue, they passed on selling them. Weird.

It's probably the GOT effect. Peter Dinklage was complaining people would buy huskies due to the dire Wolfe's and then discard them as if not living beings

We recently lost our much loved beagle and are heartbroken. He was 12yrs old and a massive part of our family. You decide to have a pet for life not until you get bored. How would these owners have felt if their parents left them scared and alone at the age of 1? Petrified? Exactly hiw the dogs felt.

Didn't peter dinklage said something like people are buying husky puppies because of GOT and abandoning them because they don't know how to handle the breed? I wonder if this is the case here

You get a dog, you have the responsibility to care for it! If you can no longer care for it, you find it a home. It's not that hard, especially with two young, beautiful purebreds. Some people are just lazy turds.

I work for a vet, there are several more options in between bringing your dog's to a kill shelter and abandoning them at a park. I also feel I should mention we have a few homeless people with pets that come to our vet and many of us have helped place then with foster mom's or paid for medication and treatment out of our own pockets, but hey if your too lazy to look for help and writing a soppy note with your abandoned fur babies in a park let's you sleep at night we should feel sorry for you right?

PLEASE stop judging! Do you know how many people just drive out to the country and dump their dogs?!! What happens to THEM?!!!! These people did their best under the circumstances which we DO NOT KNOW. I feel bad for everyone (dogs, owner etc.), but thank God they were rescued and all is well. They are gorgeous dogs and will be well loved. Such good girls too that they didn't try to run away or escape. I wish I could take them!

My friends daughter stopped because she saw a pit bull with puppies in bad shape. She took it to the shelter and they basically threatened to call the cops on her. She is a young woman and didn't know any better on what to do next. So she tried to do the right thing and ended up with a dog and 6 puppies. Luckily the small town is next to a local CBS TV station whos News Team took on the issue and things were changed very quickly. So I can see how a shelter or pound might not just work like everyone thinks. I personally have never taken an animal to a shelter. I let animal control come get the animal. Or in the case of our new pit bull she just took the place of another rescue that we had recently lost due to age.
