I recently spent a couple weeks traveling the North and South islands of New Zealand and I managed to hit almost every filming site from Lord of the Rings!
Here are some shots that I was able to re-create or that lined up with scenes from the movies very nicely.

Sometimes I can't find a building with its name written in big-a*s-bus-sized letters and some people can find the same tree and the same perspective from a movie made 17 years ago.
I look at this and just, wow! I am so blessed to live in such a beautiful country... it's a shame a lot of us don't appreciate the beauty of our home.
I love this one the most! ♡ and your hair looks so beautiful here, a little change in the outfit and you'd look like an elf!
Hiding From The Nazgul In Hobbit's Hideaway In Wellington
Oh no the poor tree! (This is why I don't send Christmas cards! ;)
Traveling The Valley Of Harrowdale Towards The Paths Of The Dead At The Putangirua Pinnacles In Aorangi Forest
So, it's more real than I thought it would be. Thought it was al computer generated. Powerful landscape!!!
Some Casual Reading In Hobbit's Hideaway, Wellington
Isengard, In Glenorchy
Where's Isengard? Good heavens, the whole city just disappeared! Probably for that bypass.
Do you remember those big trees, walking around, destroying everything? Called Ents? Well, you can see that they did a good job.
Load More Replies...I *have* been to Glenorchy. (Don't recall Isengard, tho. Obviously I didn't smoke enough "New Zealand Green" that day.)
Presume that was a farmer's land so you couldnt get closer to recreate the shot 100%? Well found though!
Great pictures.. No wonder New Zealand tops the list of fav destinations for most out there... Also, cool Yin yang hair you've got there.. :)
It is. I used to live there and can't wait to go back

Beautiful country. https://www.boredpanda.com/why-to-visit-mt-cook-and-surroundings/ One of the most beautiful places from LOTR in real life is Mount Sunday, aka Edoras. Unfortunately my camera was broken when I was there :/
