It's easy to think of famous people as somehow immortal, but beneath the fame and the glamour, they're just as human as the rest of us. They might live in a different world than most, but they all go to the same place as everybody else when the time comes. In homage to these music, film, and sports icons, Bored Panda has compiled this list of the famous last photos taken of many of the most beloved people who have ever lived. Including the infamous 27 club members - a "club" of musicians and actors who all have died aged 27. Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, and Amy Winehouse are just a couple of them. Since there's no scientific proof of increased death risk when reaching 27, it seems almost like some black magic.

From Hollywood actors and rock stars to ex-presidents and sporting heroes, these last photos of celebrities below serve to remind us that life is short and death is inevitable, so make the most of it while you can. And though most of these people's legacies will carry on for decades, no one is safe from being forgotten.

Scroll through our list of last celebrity photos below.

    Freddie Mercury, 45, 1946-1991

Photography of Freddie Mercury standing in the yard

This is one of the last photos of the lead singer of Queen, taken in 1991. Until the very end, Freddie denied rumours about having AIDS, preferring to avoid the inevitable media circus and concentrate on his career as best he could. The day before his death he released the following statement : "Following the enormous conjecture in the press over the last two weeks, I wish to confirm that I have been tested HIV positive and have AIDS. I felt it correct to keep this information private to date to protect the privacy of those around me. However, the time has come now for my friends and fans around the world to know the truth and I hope that everyone will join with me, my doctors and all those worldwide in the fight against this terrible disease. My privacy has always been very special to me and I am famous for my lack of interviews. Please understand this policy will continue." Less than 24 hours later he died from bronchopneumonia, that was brought on by having AIDS. (Source: Ultimate Classic Rock)

This is the last known photo of Nicola Tesla. On 7th January 1943, Tesla died alone in the New Yorker Hotel. The inventor, physicist, and futurist was best known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current (AC) electricity supply system. By the end of his brilliant and tortured life, he was penniless and had become a vegetarian living on only milk, bread, honey, and vegetable juices. Tesla spent days in a park surrounded by the creatures that mattered most to him—pigeons—and his sleepless nights working over mathematical equations and scientific problems in his head. Photography of David Bowie

The December 7th 2015 premiere of his musical, 'Lazarus,' at the Theatre Workshop in New York would turn out to be David Bowie's final public appearance. Bowie had been battling liver cancer for over a year, and by this late stage was aware that it was terminal. His final album 'Blackstar' was full of references to death and he had appeared to have accepted and come to terms with his own mortality, with a humour and grace that many of us can only hope to emulate. Was lucky enough to see him in concert, in an intimate concert, at a vineyard in Australia, and again, in concert at a bigger arena. Having never listened to his work before, I was truly naive to his work. And I can tell you - he was *truly* charasmatic. Only he, could make "I'm your man" sound sexy. "Ah, but a man never got a woman back Not by begging on his knees Or I'd crawl to you baby and I'd fall at your feet And I'd howl at your beauty like a dog in heat" A divine talent, truly missed. Am so glad I was lucky enough to become a fan.

When I was a little girl, my family went on a vacation to Gettysburg, PA. It was then that I "fell in love" with Abraham Lincoln. He has been my favorite President since! Everything he stands for and everything he did for equality has been the backbone for how I live my life. I only wish that I could meet him in person and shake his hand. Rest in Peace Sir!
