Life is full of surprises, and nobody can guarantee you that these surprises will only be positive. There are nearly 8 billion folks on this planet, living with their own quirks and personalities, and chances are someone on your way will end up disappointing you. It's safe to say that one of the most crucial reasons why everything is, more or less, emotionally tiring is because we attach our happiness to others.

We struggle to accept our importance, and we only pay attention to how we can satisfy everyone else around us. We put ourselves aside, forgetting that we're supposed to thrive and not survive – though, for most of us, this sort of epiphany comes with age when you finally understand that there's no more room for negativity.

An online user wondered and took it to one of Reddit's communities to ask women to share their own versions of hard-to-swallow pills they've managed to learn over the years. The post received nearly 4K upvotes and 1.5K worth of emotional yet encouraging stories.

"Freedom" is the most nebulous word in the world. I ask "Freedom from what?", while others are dying or killing in the name of what they call "freedom", something they can't even define.

I think many people didn't read the title of the post. It is from women, about being a woman...and that to be free, a woman must be financially free. At least that's how I understand it :)

Intellectual freedom, emotional freedom sexual freedom, gender freedom, racial freedom, religious freedom... I'm not rich. I struggle financially. I don't have kids so I don't have that obligation but money isn't a freedom for me. No. It is most certainly not the only freedom. And so very far from being the most important.

That can mean having a lot of money, or having few needs so you’re not tied to making a lot of money. A friend of mine does this well. She works part of the year, rents a room, can fit all her belongings in a pickup truck, and has a ton of free time and travels. She just just hiked the PCT last year (minus the parts closed from wildfires)!

This is definitely false. Financial security for most people is a myth, and even wealthy people can be enslaved mentally, emotionally, legally, and otherwise.

See #12. you can do everything right and still fail. Financial freedom is not a choice, it's just luck. For example, my mother grew up in a fundamental religion and believed she would go to hell if she didn't have a bunch of kids and then her husband divorced her. She made the "right" choice with the knowledge she had and she's pretty much f***d until they all grow up and move out. This could easily happen to someone else with a good job if they have a death in the family or an expensive disease.

Being free from financial concern is freedom, but one can have lots of money and still be enslaved by greed or enslaved by the fear of losing one''s money. Perhaps having enough money is freedom, but I'd rather be enlightened, then there would be no fear or attachment to anything. In regular ( non-enlightened) life one needs enough provision, most people crave more than enough, so they are not free.

Disagree! Freedom of speech and thought, freedom to love who you love, freedom to practice your faith openly, freedom to be the gender you are, freedom of leisure time and relaxation, freedom to walk alone without fear of rape or murder, freedom to vote and freedom of an educated mind (the greatest independence of all to me). I could go on.

This one is a joke and is entirely based on a capitalist ideology. Money means as much to your happiness as you want it to. In truth, money is merely an excuse. Happiness doesn't come from money, it comes from doing what you wish with the time you have. Money doesn't grant this. Money is a means to an end. The end result is what you actually want. When people wish for money, it means they don't actually know what they want out of life, OR they aren't taking the proper steps to get it. Grow up and you'll realize this with time. Or you'll spend your whole life chasing your tail like a dog.

Yes, but it's still only financial freedom. Money is portable, negotiable power, it is vital that you are financially independent if you want to attempt to achieve total freedom, but it can only buy you so much. There are many other freedoms you need to be truly free (physical freedom, freedom of speech, religious freedom, educational freedom, etc, etc) and unfortunately there will always be someone out there trying to deny you your freedoms...

No. Freedom goes so far beyond finances. Most of us Americans don't know what it's like not to have freedom. Talk to a former POW or someone who escaped from a communist country back in the day, or a political prisoner in Afghanistan. We've got it easy.

Not true you just changing your god. If you put your faith in money whose value can change without your consent or put your faith in friends or family your never in control never free. The best thing you can hope is to find what level of illusion your comfortable with.
