When PETA first found Koa (Koa means “warrior” in Hawaiian), he was suffering for almost a week with slashes all over his body and a very deep wound after having been beaten and left to die. He had been so terrified and ran into the woods where he was eventually found and was rushed into surgery at the Ohio State University Veterinary Hospital. Koa’s injuries were so severe that surgeons had to remove one of his ears and he almost lost an eye.

Luckily, Koa survived and after spending at the intensive care at the hospital and then resting in a nearby animal sanctuary, he was ready to move in with his new family in Medina, Ohio
