Kenya To Cape Town In 40 Days – Unadulterated Africa (plus A Few Shots From A Separate Trip To Egypt)

In 2012, I decided to confront an item on my bucket list that had been evading me for years. Africa is daunting to say the least. It’s expansive, often expensive to get to, and perennially considered to be one of the most dangerous travel destinations outside of active war zones. So it was in the summer of the aforementioned year that I decided to swallow any apprehensions and make the journey to this amazing continent of over 50 nations. I had traveled to Egypt prior to this trip, but I just don’t feel that Egypt truly encapsulates Africa; so with this in mind, I set out to discover the true heart of the continent. Initially, my travel itinerary was a modest, 3 and out, consisting of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania; however, at some point my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to scrap my return ticket from Nairobi and buy a one way ticket flying out of Cape Town. This ensured that, in about 40 days, I would have to find a way to get from Kenya to Cape Town. I am happy to say that I don’t regret my decision for a second and after 40 days of safaris, overcrowded buses, amazing landscapes, couch surfing, and shark cages, I flew out of Cape Town, unscathed, but inspired and forever changed.
