If more Christians were like the good pastor there I might not hate Christianity

Fun fact about the Roman Catholic church: It has numerous gender-nonconforming and queer saints. In the middle ages, people we'd call transgender today were thought of as chosen by God for Holy Purpose, as they had been given the toughest challenge God could provide - being born into a physical body that was not theirs. Christian hatred towards queer people is, relatively speaking, a fairly new thing at less than 300 years old.

I love this story, THIS is what Christianity is, not the bullshіt that a lot of bigots preach. “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you" and that's what Jesus said to do summed up in one verse. IF YOU"RE A BIGOT, YA AIN"T CHRISTIAN!

I love the message but this reads like a horribly aspartame just not buying it story. Go away head demons, I tried to spell sacarin, sacrin, sachrine, sacachrine FFS, how is saccharine spelled?

I started attending an Antiochian Orthodox church, and what made me decide to get baptized was the priest's attitude toward his gay niece. He said that she was gay and that while he disagreed with her lifestyle, he nonetheless loved her and accepted that she would make her own choices. He went on to say that she was a good person and that he was proud to be her uncle. I wish more Christians could be like Father Michael, especially given the hate-filled vitriol coming out of the conservative Protestant denominations.

And Christ said unto them: "Love thy neighbor as thyself." And they turned to Him and started to say "But Jesus, what if..." And He did interrupt them and said "Did I f*cking stutter?" Love is the central and only message of Christ's teachings. Hate has no place in His word. So if you hate, you are not a Christian, period. He does not know you, and you do not know Him.

I specifically picked out our church because they fly a pride flag and a black lives matter flag. Finding a church that didn't shelter bigots was at the very top of my list. Our little church sounds an awful lot like op's right down to the sweet old ladies and the baked goods. We even hosted a pride brunch and they were adorable in their rainbow outfits giving out their grandma hugs. I really am SO glad we found them.

Funny thing is though, the Karen was more closely following the teachings of the Bible. Funny how religious groups get better the more secular they behave.

First the disclaimer: pastor John is awesome and we need more people like him. My question is how tolerant would they have been if their kids weren't gay? Hypothetically of course. Just curious.

Because I am A Sexual I can’t even find acceptance within any community, heterosexuals, think there is something wrong with me the LGBTQ community doesn’t want people like me around either. I don’t think I am a terrible person. Maybe there is some place I get to be me. Maybe someday people will get it.

... this pastor has proven to be unchristian in the most favourable way. "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination." (Leviticus 18:22). Most likely reason this only mentions gay men? They didn't consider a woman enough of a person, but rather a piece of property, that simply doesn't have any own saxuel interest at all. Every time a pastor holds a speech that has this distinct humanist smell to it, they don't really convey christian values, but humanist values that are painted over in a christian colour. It seems to almost be accepted as a fact now that those were the "true christians" while those that take the racism, homophobia and taste for violence that the god of the old and even worse new testament - remember, the entire story only revolves around Scapeman being tortured to death so his omnipotent father, who is he, gains the ability to forgive the sins of his direct copies that he, perfect as he is, has made himself - as it is, as a given, truly obey their holy book and its teachings, are regarded as "not that christian after all". We should stop glossing over christianity with the very same humanism that it fought tooth and nails, lost due to having no valid points, and instead of accepting defeat, tries to frame themselves as supporters of anything and everything considered good by humanist standards. This very, very christian woman, likely the most devout in the congregation, was in fact perfectly christian, while her surrounding including the pastor was, in fact, humanists, but likely have fallen for the identity-twisting paint-over the church has applied on itself here, like every time their blatantisms are exposed or defeated. Being a Atheist has at least one advantage: you neither have to buy into outdated morals and perception of the world, and you don't have to ingratiate yourself towards the winning side after losing debate after debate after debate.
