Most people have insecurities about themselves, especially their appearances and they don’t like when others bring attention to them, regardless of whether that attention is negative or positive. Being encouraged and complimented is nice, but it’s not where they want the attention to go.

An example of this is the American actor, filmmaker, and comedian Jonah Hill, who was on a weight loss journey and received so much support and love from his fans, but in a recent Instagram post, he kindly asked people to just stop commenting on his body altogether.

Since starring in the movies Superbad (2007), Knocked Up (2007), and Get Him to the Greek (2010), Jonah Hill was known to be an actor with more weight on his bones. But in 2011, he surprised his fans with a major transformation, appearing in the movie Moneyball with a much slimmer figure. By the way, he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for that movie as well as for The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) in the same category.

After that, his weight fluctuated as he needed to adapt to various characters he was portraying. But what is important to say is that Jonah Hill didn’t feel good in his body.

In 2018, after another dramatic weight loss, the actor told Ellen DeGeneres: “I became famous in my late teens and then spent most of my young adult life listening to people say that I was fat and gross and unattractive. And it’s only in the last four years writing and directing my movie, ‘Mid90s,’ that I’ve started to understand how much that hurt and got into my head.”

And it seems that Jonah Hill is getting more and more comfortable with how he looks as he opened up in an Instagram post earlier this year in February when he was caught on camera shirtless. He even posted the screenshot from the article with the photo and was proud that he has the courage to do that.

In that post, the comedian wrote that he was insecure about his weight in his childhood and becoming famous only made the insecurities worse as every inch of his body was scrutinized by the media. But now he is not fazed by the articles or videos on his appearance anymore and it’s really a liberating feeling.

Even then, Jonah Hill pointed out that by bringing attention to that paparazzi shot, he didn’t want to be praised for reaching a point where he accepts his own body. At the same time, he didn’t want people to feel bad for him that the media is exposing him.

Now the actor brought up the issue again, addressing his fans on Instagram and asking them to not comment on his body altogether. He acknowledged that people who comment nice things mean well, but he explained that the comments don’t feel good and don’t help him.

The post appeared on Jonah Hill’s Instagram on October 13 and over 600k people liked it. People were expressing their support for the actor in the comments and were applauding him for his words as they agreed that those comments are absolutely unnecessary.
