JK Rowling Tries To Return To Social Media After Imane Khelif Lawsuit, Gets Immediately Shut Down
After a two-week silence online, J.K. Rowling returned to social media with more hatred directed at Algerian boxer Imane Khelif.
The notoriously transphobic writer resurfaced on X (formerly known as Twitter) after her rare social media silence. Following her tweet on August 8, she posted for the first time on August 23 and wasted no time in reigniting controversy, targeting the Olympic gold medalist.
- J.K. Rowling returned to X after a two-week silence with controversial tweets directed at Imane Khelif.
- The 'Harry Potter' author shared an article claiming Imane’s makeover is a PR campaign to distract from transparency about her gender.
- Comments slammed Rowling's tweet, accusing her of creating a narrative and insulting the athlete.
- She is facing a cyberbullying lawsuit filed by the Olympic gold-winning medalist.
She returned to X to share an article by evolutionary biologist Colin Wright, who claimed that Imane’s post-Olympics makeover is nothing more than a “hyper-feminizing PR campaign” designed to distract people from the real issue: transparency about her gender.

The polarizing literary icon quoted one of the statements in Colin’s article in her tweet: “It’s important to highlight that launching a PR campaign and applying layers of thick makeup requires far more time and effort than simply making DNA test results public.”
A number of people in the comments section slammed the contentious public figure for her tweet.

“Born a woman. Raised a woman. Trained as a woman. Competed as a woman over multiple years without issue,” said one Imane supporter. “You inventing a narrative and refusing to budge from it is why you’ve been so roundly mocked these last few weeks and why your lawyers will be very busy in the months to come.”
Another comment said, “I am not sure what you are achieving here Joanne. You made a mistake, and now you are insulting her. The issue around gender equality is incredibly complex as you know, but perhaps your lawyers need to make this simpler for you.”
Earlier this month, the gold-winning Olympian flaunted a completely new look with pink eyeliner and lip gloss

“It was so nice when you were following legal advice to shut the f— up,” read another comment, suggesting Rowling’s two-week social media hiatus was likely due to her lawyers’ recommendations after Imane filed a cyberbullying lawsuit against her.
The Harry Potter author was one of the big names part of the crusade against the 25-year boxer, apart from Elon Musk and Donald Trump.
The controversy began during the 2024 Olympics, where Imane faced significant backlash after her victory over Italian boxer Angela Carini. Almost immediately after the win, the Olympic gold winner faced allegations of being a man in a women’s sport.

The idea that those objecting to a male punching a female in the name of sport are objecting because they believe Khelif to be ‘trans’ is a joke. We object because we saw a male punching a female. https://t.co/KSAM5RCl1S

Could any picture sum up our new men’s rights movement better? The smirk of a male who’s knows he’s protected by a misogynist sporting establishment enjoying the distress of a woman he’s just punched in the head, and whose life’s ambition he’s just shattered. #Paris2024pic.twitter.com/Q5SbKiksXQ

Rowling had shared a picture from the Algerian boxer’s match with Angela and accused her of being “a man enjoying the distress of a woman he’s just punched in the head.”
She described her well-earned victory as a form of “men reveling in their power over women.”
For all the emotional turmoil Imane went through, she is now seeking justice through a lawsuit filed with French authorities. She has named Rowling and Elon in the cyber harassment lawsuit.

“J. K. Rowling and Elon Musk are named in the lawsuit, among others,” Nabil Boudi, her Paris-based attorney, told Variety.
The stars could face hefty fines and possibly even a prison sentence if the Olympic champion comes out victorious on the other side of the lawsuit.

Thanks! Check out the results:
I have no doubt as a cishet ally of the LGBTQ+ community that the homophobic Muslim country of Algeria had Imane tested through more credible means after the IBA's sham testing and if she *had* turned out to be trans, she'd have been executed as soon as they got those results, long before the Olympics. Because they're even more transphobic than J.K. Rowling is. So what we have here is Rowling being so transphobic that she is bigoted against even cis women who dare to look even the tiniest bit masculine. It would be pathetic if she wasn't a billionaire, but her wealth makes her a dangerous threat to trans women and cis women alike.
I get this strange sense of schadenfreude whenever I think about JKR and Musk being named in Khelif's lawsuit... (BTW, Rowling only pretends to be a feminist, why would a feminist maintain connections with known abusers of women? She's so fake.) I'm sure the sycophantic fans will come to defend their beloved billionaire and spew lies about Imane Khelif and other women, and display their anger at humans having rights. Did you know that anger is a secondary emotion? Tell that to your neighborhood transphobe who insists they're not transphobic because "phobia means fear and I'm not afraid of trans people". They are afraid, and that makes them angry :)
I really hope that case has enough support to have both of those àssholes hauled into court. Although in the real world, the best were likely to get is standing arrest warrants which effectively ban them from entering France.
Load More Replies...Transphobia is a simplistic, meaningless word that sounds like an insult. The reality is that trans women competing in women's sports is a complex issue, and one that many women feel disadvantages the majority of women. There are already a number of sports that explicitly ban trans competitors and in 2023 the IBA banned Imane from taking part in the boxing, Women's World Championships. Apparently based on failing the gender testing, but its still a bit unclear why, it may have been on some genetic testing or on hormone levels. However, if it was based on testosterone levels as some claim, elevated levels are still a cause for disqualification. The IOC allowed Imane to compete based on the gender indicated in their passport, It's already been suggested that further testing would be appropriate, an Olympic medal is an important award that goes beyond these silly claims of victimhood. Competing in a sport where gender represents an important variable, isn't a right, it needs sorting out.
Imane Khelif is not even a transwoman, so alone on that basis JKR's attack is downright stupid. She trusts a Russian led organization, that ensured victories to Russian boxers through a stunt against the two boxers, who beat them. The organization claimed to have tests, documenting their reasons for disqualifying these two women. But at no point have they produced anything even remotely resembling proof, not even during their press conference during the Olympic Games.
Load More Replies...Oh, knock it off about JK. She’s a staunch supporter of women’s rights and campaigns for safe women’s spaces which is what every woman wants. When you’ve made millions of kids happy with your writing and donated a massive proportion of your income to charity, maybe you can troll her. Til then, button it.
Hello! I'm a cis female, and I want trans women to be allowed in the same spaces as I am. Woahhhh, guess JK Rowling's goals aren't "what every woman wants". Shut up.
Load More Replies...Not sure why you keep publishing articles about this. It's a totally divisive issue, and it's hard to see how any agreement will be reached, until further ratified scientific testing and an agreed definition of what constitutes an unfair advantage have been established.
Unless and until her words cause direct harm to another. I don't believe men should participate in competitive women's sports, but there has been absolutely no proof whatsoever that Khelif is a man. In fact, the opposite seems to be true - she was born female. At this point, JK is absolutely causing damage to this young woman, and as a feminist she needs to do better than to falsely accuse a fellow woman.
