I don't know how it is in the US, but in my country sometimes couriers will not call you or send a message in advance, so you have no idea when they will be coming. I had this happen to me twice, the courier would call me when they're waiting at my door with no prior warning my package would be delivered that day. But if you're not at home they will never just leave your stuff outside, it gets taken to an office or you make arrangements for another delivery date.

I work form home, am here ALL DAY and I have a huge note on my door "Deliveries: I am here. Please Ring Bell". They still toss the package at or near the porch and drive on. I have to go check every half hours or so to see if a package was "delivered". Every Time. Ordered car parts that I needed last week. Got a text that they were delivered (no knock, no ringing of bell), and by the time I got to the door the box was gone. Checked my video - Amazon delivery threw the box on to the porch, and within 2 minutes a guy rode up on his bike, grabbed the box and stuffed it in his backpack. Hope he had a 1992 Volvo. Still fighting Amazon on this one - they say it was "Delivered".

So we should be home everyday to accept the mail? With a lot of packages in the US the final delivery is made by the United States Postal Service, even if they started with FedEx of UPS. I have a enclosed porch and a deck to the front of my house, and they will still leave packages in the driveway.

In my Country, that is the only choice. If you aren't home, a docket is placed in your mail box for you to pick up at the post office.

I order all the time, but with a full time job I don't have the luxury of being there when most of my packages are delivered. I do, however, have very good deliverers.

Most services don't let you choose when to get your packages. It comes in 5-7 business days and you don't get the time of day it gets delivered. Most of the time, it's not really within the customer's control. Amazon lets you pick a delivery day (I'm not sure if that is specific to Prime), but most companies don't give you that kind of control.

Perhaps but these are all items that have been deliberately damaged or treated negligently.

Well..and with Whole Foods being in several cities, most Amazon packages can be delivered to a pick up box. As far as the people complaining about USPS ruining their packages...they only have so much room in that truck people. You want it safe..request it be held at your local post office and you go pick it up on Saturday when they are open!

I totally agree with you. Half of these people share some level of responsibility. I live on a corner house in a high crime, high traffic area. I mean Homeless people, drunks from the bar, a block up, stumbling by all day. I make sure to either have someone home or pay for a PMB(personal mail box) that accepts packages. I've had 3 boxes stolen in 7 years of living here. There's no excuse for the bent diplomas though that's just a jerk move.

I always have things delivered to my office. If I'm out there will be someone there to sign for it. There have been too many times where the delivery driver hasn't even tried to deliver my packages and put a note in my mailbox to go to the depot to pick it up. I have a long driveway and they don't want to bother to go up it.

In the US they don't try neighbors unless instructed, or if it's a small town and the carrier knows you and the neighbor.
