Staying healthy and somewhat fit are reasonable goals for anyone growing older. But more so, these are reachable expectations, especially in today’s age where there are so many tips and newfound ways to keep in good physical shape.

One actress in particular has recently made it her mission to reveal to the world just what it takes for a woman in her 50s to maintain a certain robustness to the body.

Highlights
  • Jennifer Aniston's fitness tips include drinking water, moving daily, eating fresh foods, and getting enough sleep.
  • Aniston emphasizes the importance of turning off noise and maintaining mindfulness for mental well-being.
  • Interest in medical journals came from Aniston's father, a doctor-actor who sparked her curiosity in health.

Recently, one of the stars of Friends opened up about staying fit

Friends alumni Jennifer Aniston, who has graced our TV screens for just under four decades, has not only been notable for her talent as an actress, but also for her enviable looks, particularly her iconic hairstyles.

In an interview with CR Fashion Book released on Wednesday (September 27), the 54-year-old disclosed how she has been managing such a splendid shape.

Moreover, Jennifer revealed the top four rules she lives by in order to take care of her impressively toned body.

She explained: “I drink a lot of water, move my body daily, try to eat whole, fresh foods, and get as much sleep as I can.

Jennifer Aniston revealed the four simple things she does to keep her toned body, including drinking loads of water

“That last part is challenging for me, but it’s so important.

“I feel it when I don’t get enough rest.”

In addition to these habits, the We’re The Millers actress confessed that she has been trying to preserve a rather high degree of mindfulness about what she allows into her head-space.

“Our world is really going through some challenges, and I know we all care a lot, but sometimes I think it’s imperative that we turn off the noise,” Jennifer said.

The actress also revealed the importance of sleeping, which helped her maintain a fitness routine

But don’t let the Hollywood star’s seemingly metaphysical appreciation fool you. Jennifer is a self-proclaimed amateur of all things medical journals and technological advances, especially when it comes to beauty and health innovations.

“I’ve always found it fascinating,” she said.

Jennifer continued: “There was a period when my dad went to medical school, when acting slowed down for him, which is why we moved to Greece when I was five or six.

“So I had a doctor/actor (LOL) in the house who introduced me to the world of medicine and research. We would sit and watch medical programs during dinner.

Jennifer opened up about her father, and how he sparked her interest in reading medical journals

“Even like micro surgeries—not what you would normally want to watch during suppertime.

“That’s where the interest sparked, and I am always grateful to the science and medical community who advance our knowledge of the human body, our health, and how we can continue to thrive as we age.”

Back in March, The Morning Show actress was already discussing the importance of sleep, as she revealed the stress of not being able to fall asleep was enough to keep her awake for hours.

At first, she ignored it, Jennifer thought, “‘I got this. I can go through the day on five hours of sleep and I’ll make up for it over the weekend’… and over time, it was really starting to affect every single part of my daily life,” the movie star told USA TODAY.

The actress admitted that she would often struggle to fall asleep

The lack of sleep reportedly made it harder for the actress to memorize lines and even to work out and keep her fitness routines.

A good night’s sleep “is sort of the last thing on your to-do list,” Jennifer said.

She explained: “we’re so arrogant when we’re younger.

“We think, ‘ah, I’ll sleep when I’m 80. I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve said that to myself, but you can’t make up on lost sleep. It’s just a myth.”

Meditation was one of the simple things Jennifer said she did on a daily basis to stay healthy

The Californian native said that her tips for a productive day and night include meditating every morning, limiting her screen time, especially before bed, and ending the day with a relaxing, hot bath.

The actress rose to fame for her role as Rachel in the sitcom Friends

The 54-year-old actress is still actively performing, as she most recently starred in the hit TV show The Morning Show

Jennifer, who recently wrapped filming the third season of The Morning Show and is preparing for the release of Murder Mystery 2, acknowledged that her fans would often fixate on her youthful and glowing appearance associated with her looks on Friends, but that what they saw was not real life.

“To hear people say, ‘You look like you did on ‘Friends!” Listen, lovely compliment. But that’s a TV set they’re looking at,” she quipped.

Internet users were particularly hung up on the fact that the actress was reportedly a size 2

Having money helps a tad! It gives you the time to work out, the time to practice self-care and not be exhausted from the day of working full time and looking after children or other family members (many are full time carers too), the ability to buy all the gorgeous fresh produce you want and the time to cook it all from scratch (or eat out at restaurants that do the same for you) and, not least, the money to spend on expensive beauty and health care treatments. Sure she looks lovely, but so would a lot of us in her situation. I'm just about to work-out now - for me it is precious time carved from the day and essential as I have a disability that will worsen without it.

Wow, what a tone-deaf "article" BoredPanda. Are you honestly sharing tips and tricks from celebrities so women can retain that desirable size 2 waist. What the hell? Enough with this toxic c**p. Honestly, this site is really scraping the bottom of the barrel anymore.

Well, the viewing public, obviously. If you make a career out of your looks (no I'm not saying that's all she has) then of course it's important to do your utmost to conserve them. Credit to her, say I, and those commentors who are apparently mocking her for her 'obsession' need to get their heads out of their own aceholes.

There is nothing wrong with being a Size 2 if you're genetically disposed to it and have the luxury of proper nutrition, exercise, recreation. It's odd that some people have a problem with it. Health is wealth. Whatever size you look, feel, and like best is best for you.

Congratulations on having posted one of the few non-toxic comments for this article. Yeah, sure it's a puff piece about a "celebrity" (ie, a professional actor). So what? She is entitled to an opinion, her opinions, and frankly, she looks healthy, and seems happy with herself. Frankly I was a little surprised that she is kind of a science buff, and actually reads scientific journals for information. So refreshing, as opposed to so much of the antivax and anti-science flim-flammery, in addition to the pseudoscience bullflop propagated by "influencer" celebrities. Plus eat real food, exercise, and get some sleep is good advice.

Everyone here scrolling their phones complaining about time. You have time and exercise is free. It's just not a priority so you don't have time for it. People want to hate people with money. There are plenty of overweight out of shape unattractive people with money. For the person saying there are more important things...like what? Without your health you don't have much else. Stop pointing fingers. Everyone can always find all the reason for why they CANT do things but never a reason for why they can.

Well said. Jennifer Anniston was always at least moderately attractive for her age, but she has no doubt aged way better than the average person. Of course she has more resources to do that than the average person, but the two things that have made the biggest impact on her impressive aging are two things nearly everyone can control: diet and exercise. All these complainers and discreditors in the comments have the time to write and whine here but don't spend the time and discipline to exercise or eat properly.

Ok these are really good tips but I wanna add something. If you do these things and your body does not look like hers, it isn’t supposed to. Your body will look how your body is supposed to look. Everyone’s body is different, and supposed to be different. You are beautiful and amazing just the way you are right now. It doesn’t matter if you have stretch marks, or pimples, or don’t have a thigh gap. Your body is perfect. And think about all the things your body does for you. You can enjoy your favorite foods, feel sunshine on your skin, feel a dog or cat’s fur. What matters most is are you happy and healthy. But when I say healthy, I mean what is healthy for you. Do you eat when you’re hungry? Do you take your vitamins and meds? Do you feel happy with your life and who you are? And if you’re not happy with your body, usually it’s not your body that needs to change.

What about it is unhealthy? If you mean promoting expectations that are unrealistic for many then sure, but the people saying her being a size 2 is unhealthy... wtf are you on about? Nothing about her looks remotely unhealthy. She doesn't look remotely sickly or over the top skinny.
