My 6 Illustrations Of Cats Inspired By Traditional Japanese And Medieval Art

When I moved into my own apartment I realized I could come up with a theme and decorate it however I liked. Realizing I’m a fan of cats and Japanese woodblock prints I decided to combine those interests and make these art prints for my new home.

Took me about a month and a half, while juggling other projects, to complete.

I'm an artist. My art combines traditional art styles with a fun, playful vibrance. Often drawing inspiration from Japanese woodblock prints, medieval paintings, Persian drawings, comic books, fable storybooks and contemporary children’s textiles. My work is best suited to briefs that allow me to have fun with the subject matter and color palette. I’ve been illustrating professionally since 2014, and I’ve had the privilege to work on everything from editorial illustrations, graphic tees for major companies, album art for recording artists, greeting cards, glassware, and I’ve been in a number of gallery shows. I also make comics regularly which often discuss the emotional roadblocks creatives face, mental health, and stories from my own life. When not making art, I’m often collaborating on music with my partner, Tyler Pratt, in Portland, Oregon.

These are delightful! I hope I'm not the only one narrating little stories for each one... ("Cat attack" comes with a newscaster... and ends in fields of catnip)

Oh that's my favorite when people come up with stories for the pieces! Feels like they're not really complete works of art without the viewer's interpretation. :D
