UberFacts says it shares "the most unimportant things you'll never need to know" and I have to admit, that's a pretty accurate description of its content. Launched in 2009, the Internet project provides people with random facts on all kinds of topics.

Sorry to be such a nitpicker but "lead" ? They were going down so which other way might they have gone without the dog "leading" them ?

Yes, they couldn't figure it out. The smoke meant dreadful visibility - the noise and confusion on top of that. People panicking (very understandably). Guide dogs are trained to ignore these sorts of things anyway and some dogs are just the calmest of creatures (I meet some very laid back ones while dealing with my own total nutter). Dogs will use other senses to get around instead of relying on sight and we humans are bad at that on the whole. Had a blind dog and she was incredible at getting around on her own. Salty the guide dog also should get mentioned here as well. Both such very good dogs!

"You get a rush or a neuroreward signal or a dopamine burst from winning," the professor of psychology and director of the doctoral program in applied cognitive and brain sciences at Drexel University in Pennsylvania, told Healthline. "I think whenever you're challenged with a trivia question and you happen to know it, you get a rush. It's sort of like gambling."

He said the benefits can also be similar to those of playing video games. However, unlike gambling and video games, trivia is generally not a potentially dangerous habit, Kounios said.
"I don't think there are any pitfalls. Like anything else that's fun, it takes up time."
Moreover, retaining information about things we're interested in can be like an exercise for the frontal cortex as the brain ages.
"That's the first thing to go with injury or with age if we don't use it," Deborah Stokes, Ph.D., L.P.C., B.C.N., a psychologist in Virginia who focuses on neurotherapy, said.

George and Michelle's easy-going friendship demonstrates that democrats and republicans are not mortal enemies, as Trump would have you believe. A good leader unites his countrymen, not divides them like der Drumpf.

Not calling out either side here because i completely support peoples right to protest. But 7% of thousands of protests can still do quite a lot of damage and at least 25 people have died from protests / political unrest.

There are more terrorist attacks/threats on US home soil than terrorist threats/attacks from other countries. This is why their gun laws are pathetic, you are more likely to be accidentally shot by your own gun than by a terrorist from another country.

Goes to show that just because someone is a janitor doesn’t mean they aren’t educated and also just because you have a PHD doesn’t mean you will get a job in that field. I am curious to know how many refugees also have PHD’s that aren’t recognised in their new home.

I hate it when I get a notification that someone replied to my post only for BoredPanda to make it impossible to find (I've refreshed this page several times and I still can't see comments where I KNOW I made them... Although usually it's because the thing I commented on has been cut from the page - which would seem to happen at different times in different places since I can still get upvotes on things I said that are no longer visible to myself...?)

The man who developped the BMI was a statistician, and statistician are heavily involved in all part of sciences and even more in medicine. Every clinical study to get a new drug on the market involved a lot of statistics. To dismiss Quetelet's work because he was not a doctor of medicine shows a misunderstanding of how science works. He was working on obesity and population growth and developped this index as a growth marker, not an health marker. It was adopted as an health marker years after some studies in the 60's showed its reliability.
