No they don't. Quote: "During the breeding season, when Eastern Screech-Owls capture the worm-like reptiles known as blind snakes, they deliver them to their chicks alive and wriggling. Some are gulped down immediately, but others escape by burrowing beneath the nest. The surviving “snakes” feed on the insect larvae they find in the nest — larvae that would otherwise parasitize the owl nestlings. A study conducted by Baylor University scientists found that screech-owl chicks grew faster and healthier in nests kept vermin-free by the blind snakes."

False. 3rd cause of death according to the CDC is "Chronic lower respiratory diseases". Anywhere you research this, you get the same or similar numbers, mostly medical reasons - with the exception of the Russian propaganda-run RT website, which is the only "source" for the above claim. http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/leading-causes-of-death.htm http://www.snopes.com/causes-of-death-2016/ http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/282929.php#top_10_leading_causes_of_death

They will build nests out of materials available. If you select the materials, you can force them to make rainbow nests. There's nothing intentional about the insects' behavior in making these rainbow nests. Quote: "They’re the product of an experiment conducted by Mattia Menchetti, a biology student at the University of Florence. He realised that by giving a captive colony of European paper wasps different colored paper over time, the insects would eventually construct their own kaleidoscopic houses. And as you can see, the result is pretty remarkable, if not slightly reminiscent of a bad trip." https://www.boredpanda.com/colorful-paper-wasp-nests-rainbow-mattia-menchetti/

Except when nesting, swifts spend their lives in the air, living on the insects caught in flight; they drink, feed, and often mate and sleep on the wing. No other bird spends as much of its life in flight. Feeding parties can be very large in insect-rich areas, such as wetlands.

Battle the town is named after Battle Abbey, the Abbey Built to commemorate the Battle of Hastings. So this is incorrect, Battle just wasn't a place at the time. So town named AFTER the battle.

Let's see. A standard deck of cards has 52 cards, if I am not mistaken. Start with the first card. 52 choices. 51 for the next, 50 for the following, and so on. This makes 52! possible choices. 52! is a crazy number already....roughly 8.066e * 10^67. Yes, this is 80 with 66 trailing zeros. In comparison, the number of atoms to be estimated for earth is tiny. Depending on the source, earth has about 1.33 * 10^50 atoms. Thus, there are 606 466 165 413 533 834 times more ways to shuffle cards. Number in stochastics can become quite large.

People used to be required to remove the door from discarded refrigerators. Children playing would get inside (maybe playing hide and seek) and suffocate, because they couldn't be opened from the inside, and, because of the insulation, people couldn't hear them.

Don't try consuming raw blood though - in addition to the risk of pathogens, the digestive tract of humans really isn't geared for it. In addition to only gaining minimal nutrition from what should be an extremely nutrient rich source, it results in exceedingly loose, smelly, black colored stools.

It's kind of a big deal that so many penguins poop consistently in the same place.

Paper is about 0.1016mm thick. Every time you fold paper you double the number of sheets that are stacked up. First fold=2 sheets, second fold= 4 sheets, etc. After 42 folds # sheets=2^42 . So total height of stack=0.1016mm*2^42= 446,841 kilometers. The distance to the moon is 384,400 km.

How big a piece of paper would you need for that? I think I once heard that any piece of paper could be folded only a certain amount of tines, regardless of its' size...

Babies can do that until the age of about seven or eight months. That way they can suckle.

Dogs and other animals can. But the trade off for that slight difference in our throats is we can speak.

All newborn mammals can do it, so that they don't choke on mother's milk. We lose the ability as we are weaned.

actually no, in the picture the numbers '2002' are about 2&1/2 inches away from the numbers '2016' whereas with '2030' it's only about half an inch.

No, because the milk stretches them and they make new skin, just like fat stretches the skin. This is why that people lose a lot of weight they have a lot of extra skin to be removed surgically

They also start losing fat after a certain age, that's why natural breasts "sag" when when women age.
