We here at Bored Panda have written many posts on weird facts about animals, random facts about life, and interesting facts about history, but we've never before shared what we've found about everyone's favorite drink, coffee! So this list is dedicated to you, coffee lovers, and curious people.

Coffee was first introduced in the 15th century, and to this day, it maintains its status as one of the most popular beverages, with millions of coffee drinkers worldwide. The black brew is made from ripe berries, which are picked from the coffee plant, processed and dried. Once dry, these 'beans' are roasted and ground to be brewed into the coffee drink we all know and love. Over the centuries, coffee has grown into a multi-billion dollar industry and become part of our lifestyle and even cultural phenomena. But how many coffee facts do you know about your beloved beverage? Check out the list below to learn more and share what you learned or which fun facts you knew already in the comments! We had a cat that liked the occasional sip of coffee. She'd just shove her nose in your cup and have a drink. I can't decide if she actually liked the coffee or she got a kick out of watching us get up to get another cup of coffee.

That is true when you consider the comparison bean to bean because roasting does little to the caffeine. Roasting affects the mass of the bean so dark roasted coffee beans have less mass than light roasts. If you measure coffee by weight, 1 kilogram of dark roast will have more caffeine that 1 kilo of light roast. Measure by the scoop, There is little to no difference between the caffeine contents of dark and light roasts. This is all assuming you are comparing the same species and type.

This doesn't surprise me, the difference in the preparation is that in expresso the water is forced through the tightly packed coffee at high pressure, whereas with drip coffee the water slowly works it's way through via gravity - so the water takes longer to absorb all of those coffee flavours (and obviously caffeine).
