For many, Instagram is the highlight reel of their lives. They show off their exotic trips, fancy meals, strike a sexy pose in front of expensive toys, and it's totally their choice. However, if you drown yourself in the sea of winning shots, you might end up with the impression that all of these Instagram influencers' days look like that. And feel like a loser when comparing yourself to those unachievable standards.
So it's healthy to remind yourself that not only are these Instagram photos showing just a tiny part of their lives but that there are dozens of outtakes behind the scenes of those glamorous shots as well. Maybe the angle gave them a double chin, maybe a dog was pooping in the background; these pictures get discarded.
Recently, Thai Instagram model Vienna did just that. She wanted to show her 150K followers that there's more than meets the eye to every "perfect" photo on social media and posted a series of 'Instagram vs. Reality' takes which really resonated with folks online.

Vienna became a model when she was 19 years old. "I went to Tokyo for a vacation when I had about 10K followers on Twitter. I met a girl there and we ended up taking a photo together while we were walking on the street. After she posted our photo online, her modeling agency contacted me and asked me to work with them," Vienna told Bored Panda.
Vienna said she mostly uses Instagram to document her trips around the world. "I love traveling and photography so I want people to know more about me and all the places I go to."
For her Instagram vs. Reality series, Vienna used some photo editing on the "perfect" photos to really highlight the discrepancy between the before and after pics. "On those photos, I used an app called Ulike." This software lets people "fine-tune" themselves, offering to touch-up their eyes, nose and mouth."
However, the "real" ones weren't manipulated at all, I just used my normal camera. That's why my face looks super different in them."
How does she makes her eyes look so sparkly and big? She's like an anime babe.
The pic on the right reminds me of my mom telling my sister and I to smile for a picture.
"How did I ever let these people convince me to go on this ride?"
I don't know, everything is super staged. I don't think it's funny or realistic.
Yes! If the "reality" pics weren't staged too, but just normal fotos, it would be a way better comparison. On none of the fotos you can see her real face without her "making a face".
Load More Replies...This is either a hell of a lot of photoshop, or 2 totally different people. And pulling an ugly face, is just as "fake" as a posed photo.... ie this article, is absolute nonsense.
Of course it's 2 different people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's what's fun about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Load More Replies...Sorry but I am bored to tears with these kind of articles, funny the first time round but now it's boring as Kim Kardashian.
This sh#t is getting old. Instagram is getting old, absolutely useless post. Would like to see new original content.
Bored Panda, please stop posting these staged instagram/reality photos because they are definitely not that. Photos like JLo from a premiere where she looks picture perfect vs picture from the same premiere from another person, in different light, angle and picture settings is instagram/reality, these bimbos aren't.
I know one looks like a child or teenager the other could be in her late twenties.
Load More Replies...If you don't take it too seriously, these ones are actually funny. They don't seem to be wanting to show a "reality", the aim seems to be just poking fun at everything: herself, the staged beauty AND the pretentiousness of the fake behind the scenes we've been seeing lately, as well as this whole trend. Also, this kind of humour that bases itself on comparisons between socially imposed perfection and ridiculous gags is very typical for many Asian and European countries. Having said that, can we not shower this site with lists like these? It's getting repetitive. Thanks.
I enjoyed it! It's a lot of funny and fun photos. (I'm pretty much like the person on the right XD) Staged as it may be, it was still an enjoyable set of photos which the artist certainly enjoyed making.
Sick of these. Average looking people making themselves look as ugly or stupid as they can to compare against pretty, photoshopped people. Geez, get a grip. You look sad, not funny.
IT IS A GOOD THING that Boredpanda reminds us that Instagram, fashion photography and ALL forms of advertising are completely phoney. REMEBER people they just want your attention and your money!!!!
People--this is supposed to be fun...ya know...a joke? Ha ha?? Silly time? Let's have some fun? Levity? Lighten up?
oh my god people calm down, sure this is seen a lot but she obviously knew that. if you are going to repeat what everyone else is saying at least make it useful.. she wouldn't have done all of these if she didn't like doing this so just calm down ok

I don't know why people are hating on these, I think that there really funny and relatable, lol.
Seems she's trying to compete with Celeste Barber but Celeste is actually good at it.
Since so many people don't read the text between the photo, it's not two different people, she uses a heavy editing app - "For her Instagram vs. Reality series, Vienna used some after-effects on the "perfect" photos to really highlight the discrepancy between the side-by-side pics. "On those photos, I used an app called Ulike." This software lets people "fine-tune" themselves, offering to touch-up their eyes, nose and mouth.""
"Thai Woman Creates Hilarious Instagram Vs. Reality Collages..." WHY IS IT IMPORTANT THAT SHE IS THAI???
Because Bored Panda got called out on having an inordinate number of negative posts involving Asians.
Load More Replies...Fake. All of them are simply a put-on. There is nothing real about the "real" photos either.
