HBO ‘Chernobyl’ Creator Calls Out Influencers After These Pictures
It seems to be a natural human inclination to be fascinated by disaster and the suffering of our fellow humans – from the urge to gawp at the scene of a car crash to traveling purposefully into warzones, we seem to have a morbid need to see and experience the worst that can happen.
The creator of the ‘Chernobyl’ miniseries has a message for people who have started visiting the tragic site

Disaster tourism is most definitely a thing and the way it is perceived depends entirely on the motives and the behavior of the individual. People that choose to visit Auschwitz, for example, could go to pay their respects, learn about the true extent of human barbarism and come away deeply affected; using the knowledge and empathy gained from the experience to become a more caring person. Or, they could disrespect and disregard the gravity of the site, learning nothing while looking for photo opportunities to impress their Instagram followers with.
Some people were surprised by such location choices

Sadly, this story seems to lean toward the latter. On the back of the success of HBO’s Chernobyl, Instagram influencers have been flocking to Pripyat to pose for photos, giving little historical context about what actually occurred in the danger zone but pulling plenty of the usual vapid, cliched poses that we’ve come to expect from these people.

Of course, Chernobyl disaster site is not Auschwitz; nearly all of Pripyat’s 50,000 residents were safely evacuated from the abandoned town, which is still heavily contaminated with high radiation and toxic waste from the nuclear plant accident in 1986. However, it is the site of a human tragedy that has affected the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. What possible excuse could you have for getting sexy in the site of a nuclear exposure?
This is the ugly side of disaster tourism. People cynically using a catastrophe to further their own ends, trying to give the impression of being ‘adventurous’ and ‘curious,’ but instead relegating a somber, meaningful place to just another background for endless selfies.
Sure, visit Pripyat. Read and learn about what occurred there, about the heroic people that sacrificed themselves trying to contain the accident and the realities of life under communism. Discuss the pros and cons of nuclear energy. Take pictures and share your experience with your friends! But don’t get your butt out. Your butt is irrelevant and disrespectful to the memory of the people that lost their lives there, OK?

To be fair, while there are some hideously thoughtless and tasteless pics here, some of them, like those showing the level of radiation exposure still at the site, could be considered informative.
What do you think? Is this kind of disaster tourism just plain wrong? Would you visit Pripyat to see what remains after the accident? Let us know your views in the comments below!

Here’s what people had to say about the antics of the ‘influencers’

Share on FacebookThe same bunch of idiots who take smiling selfies in Auschwitz. The reason to visit places of man-made tragedy is to keep the memory alive. This is our debt to those who found premature death (or even were murdered) and suffered.
I agree. And, of course, it's also a reminder to stop us from committing the same mistakes of history.
Load More Replies...This is everything wrong with people today. Rampant narcissism, and an utter lack of respect. People died. People died horrible, gruesome deaths. But gotta get them likes.
I think it's much worse than lack of respect. It's an absolute lack of EMPATHY, and that's really worrying. You can teach (or obligue) people to respect something, but you can't make them feel empathy. In my opinion, these people are "morally blind", and they can't even understand why people criticise their actions. It's a generation of entitled, selfish, self-centred psychopaths, totally incapable of seeing further than the tip of their nose.
Load More Replies...I don't understand why people follow "influencers". I don't give a f*** where you go, or what your a*s looks like.
Because 80% of Earth population are dumb flock of sheep. They need to follow something because they don't have their own targets, opinions and principles.
Load More Replies...The f****d up part is these idiots had no clue what Chernobyl was until the show got popular. I know this because everyone I had a conversation with about Chernobyl, that are under the age of 25 never have a clue of what I'm talking about.
Maybe dumb people. I'm 23, has not watch the series and I know what happened in tchernobyl since I was a kid :)
Load More Replies...Not sure IF it helps/works, but generally I report all these kind of photos as inappropriate and also officially block all these influencer-channels while HOPING the number of people who have blocked a certain account/channel eventually will have negative effect on the revenues "influ-me-me-me's" get from Youtube, Insta etc etc. Again, not sure if this helps, but it certainly gives me some slight satisfaction to at least done something about it :-)
Good, they should all be named and shamed. One of the most catastrophic events in world history that killed thousands of people, Chernobyl lost a whole generation of people and they're going there to take selfies?! That's almost the equivalent of taking selfies at Auschwitz.
Would they ever do this at the 9/11 memorial? I'm Ukrainian and I think these people are horse s**t.
Load More Replies...I live in Ukraine, in just about 300 km from Chernobyl. I never had a desire to go there, to touch it, to make photos. I know few men who were there, who sacrificed their health and did what should be done. It is too painful and too tragic for me even to visit the place, leave alone to make butt photos there. People are just shallow and have weird life goals
WHY is Bored Panda giving these shallow attention seekers JUST THE EXACT THING THEY CRAVE??? Iris Jans, I'll borrow this: "disrespectful egocentric attention whores". ¡Nada mas!
Monika Soffronow, To be publicly shamed is not what they crave, but it's what they're getting here.
Load More Replies...Who are these people influencing? Are they supported by companies? Have they even seen the series?
No, no, no, no JUST NO!!! Gosh, I hate those influencers! Such stupid deprived of empathy and completely non-thinking creatures - they always have to stick themselves everywhere just to show up without any respect for anything! I was always dreaming to visit Chernobyl because it's an important part of my history as a resident of central-eastern Europe. And when I just grow up enough and collect some money to go there, HBO creates a wonderful serial but totally ruined the peace of this place and now I'm not sure if I want to go there anymore. Because of influencers. Thxs.
Hopefully, this will be a self-correcting problem as the radiation bites. Let's get many more of these pathetic 'influencers' going for a Darwin award.
To me place like this is like a massive graveyard. Many people died because of what happened there and it was enormously huge pain and agony. Thousands of citizens of Pripyat had to pack small bags, leave their homes and basically start their life over. Many of them had to leave their beloved pets and for me it's impossible to imagine how at least some of them felt at that moment. A dog or a cat can be seen as a member of a family - how can you just leave like this to die someone you love and care for? Showing naked butt or making this place a fancy photo scenery is totally disrespectful. People are disgusted when they see photos like this taken in Auschwitz and other concentration camps. To me these photos are the same.
What's not to like? 😂😂 In fact, more influencers should go there. And touch EVERYTHING they see.
Does it hurt her back to constantly stand with her butt jutting out or is her spine naturally misshapen like that?
Yes, I've been noticing this pose a lot - it's the butt equivalent of duck lips. Duck butt?
Load More Replies...This only shows that such kind of people won't stop at anything, just to gain popularity. Like, "fu*k devastated nature, fu*k dead people, I'm here for the likes/followers/whatever". It's distatefull, it's disrespectfull, it's pure douchebaggery. Especially those who posted semi-naked pictures. This place is a mass grave, you turds. What next, bikini photo shoot at the Auschwitz.
Probably. Crawling among the shelves they slept on, trying to look sexy and merely succeeding in looking stupid!
Load More Replies...I visited the Dachau concentration camp and it was a somber, eye-opening experience. Not once did I think "this would be a great place to have fun." I'm glad it was 20 years ago before selfies and Instagram. These people who get paid to "influence" need to use their platform to inform, not to show off how they get paid to do literally nothing but look good and use products they are paid to use to look that way. If this is the way the world is shifting, I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
while the suits are overkill, they really should not sit/play in some of those places. Especially if you see a radiation hazard sign, it should say to your brain that its there for a reason - dont play in a hot/contaminated area. While you will not get ARS, you can end up with a seriously high chance of cancer later on in life.
Unfortunately it appears that these 'Influencers' don't appear to have a brain among them to warn them of the dangers of being in a place like this. Completely disrespectful and narcissistic attitudes toward the heartbreaking history of Chernobyl.
Load More Replies...Think about it: Influencers can only exist because there are crazy people that follow these fools. Are you all still as confident that Tangerine Turd is going to lose 2020 elections?
stripping down is not a problem, actually. Gamma (i.e. actually highly penetrating) radiation levels are not that high in chernobyl. Touching potentially irradiated stuff IS, however a concern, especially if you touch your mouth/eyes later on before you wash/decon your hands properly - this is because alpha and beta emmiters, while non-penetrating against a skin (well, you can get beta burns if you meet a powerfull beta source), can be very harmfull if ingested/inhaled/go in contact with mucous membranes of your body. You DONT want that. And seeing that girl posing next to radiation hazard sign? Yeah, girl, stay away from that area. You dont know what type of contamination exactly is there. You dont know how intensive the source is. You dont know wheter its a solid/stabilised source, or a recently found microparticulate / dust source that you can inhale easily if wind blows your way. Chances are you will be good, and same chances are you could inhale a radioisotope.
Load More Replies...HBO should do release something about North Korea- see those idiots running there to take some photos for likes :/
Didn't that poop noodle Logan Paul pull a similar douchbagery in the suicide forest? It's disgusting that these people become wealthy for being terrible.
Yeah, and a lot of places promptly banned him for it, too. Nice, when karma bites so swiftly. He's still complaining about it, too.
Load More Replies...Any of us could do this if we were willing to exchange our self-respect for internet likes, cash and fabulous (sponsored) prizes. What I don't understand is how vapid a person has to be to care about these people taking photos of themselves.
My screen reader can't cope with something you've written. What does it say? Thanks.
Load More Replies...I hope they zap their reproductive organs with the ambient radiation so they don't procreate. They'd be doing the world a favor.
Yeah maybe we should telle them to go for a month, there is so much thing to photograph in Tchernobyl. And maybe the influencer could bring back a souvenir and cuddle with it every night ?
Yeah, take lots of deep breaths and rub those semi nude bodies over everything they can. I'll only be impressed if they start glowing in the dark.
Load More Replies...In a few years these people might visit the war zones in Syria to get a few tasteless pictures.
well, indeed there's already a war zone / extreme tourism going on
Load More Replies...An idiot talking c**p followed by idiots who buy it- more or less.
Load More Replies...To see a place like this, where death, suffering, cancer, deformities, and 20+ years of heartache has occurred and your thought is "I need a picture there of me half naked to post online", shows the awful direction society as a whole is headed. This massive lack of empathy and respect is scary and appalling.
Oh,this is nothing new. People were posing with survivors of Dachau; it's that we now have this instantaneous and world-wide publication of such trash. Inolder times, only immediate friends were bothered to look at such things. (And before cameras, there were drawings. people have been tasteless for centuries--since Og found a cave, it's been recorded...)
Load More Replies...Having both of my parents dying of cancer and hearing them blame Chernobyl for it, this article simply leaves me speechless. "Influencers" ... this is just sad.
flu, nope. Cancer, quite probable. Especially if that girl on a swing / in the pool didnt decontaminate her hands and touched her eyes/lips later, this can potentially prove unpleasant (i.e. alpha emmiter particulates transmission to mucous membranes / inside the body). Same with the Duga radar pics featuring radiation hotspot warning signage - its there for a reason. Depending on exact signage, you should not go beyond that point.
Load More Replies...i cant' even explain how much i hate the term 'influencer' and these people make me sick. get a real job.
I see the fact that "influencers" go there as a good thing. For all of them i highly recommend a 6 hour long Photo-shoot session with the "elephant's foot". That is the only way their followers will get the "glowing" pictures they deserve. Also dear "influencers" as a fashion trend...Chernobylite is the new diamond...please wear some if you visit Chernobyl...that is the best way to get the "exposure" you deserve :))))
I hope that this new group of influencers (really world, really?) all visit the USA. Go to Yellowstone Park and take/pose/organize/ selfies right in front of a Mama Grizzly Bear and her babies. I really do. It could be epic.....
Better idea, use one of the babies as a teddy bear. I'm sure they'd get some GREAT shots that way. (Anything to reduce the number of 'influencers' around.)
Load More Replies...I can' t believe it... there is much less intelligent life on earth as I thought....
These people are so shallow as to be non-existent. Is that why they try to create themselves on film?
I find it kind of ironic that Bored Panda have manufactured a click-baity article out of the tasteless photos of sad attention seekers, which then decries exactly the tasteless photos that it’s using as clickbait. Pot, kettle, much?
BP holds the mirror of public opinion up to them. The mirror will not show what they expected to see.
Load More Replies...Excuse me but what the actual hell? Why would you even consider taking pictures in a place full of radiation and disaster just for the likes? Are people so desperate for likes that they'll put themselves at risk?
What risk? They can't rot their brains because they have none. And their bodies are so plastic and coated with makeup that *nothing* can get through!
Load More Replies...I would love to go there, but if I did end up taking any pictures, they would be mostly if not fully filled with respect. That's literally the only thing that's missing from these people's lives.
Apparently they believe that they are sooooo important they can influence other people to buy the things they use...they're literally walking talking billboards...the saddest part is that they are actually paid to do this by companies AND people buy the s**t they peddle
Load More Replies...Exactly what is the point of these pin up hopefuls? Just what would they have posed like at Auschwitz? A shower cap? Captain Underpants and FiFi La Boom Boom will be sending Christmas cards with these Images to talent agencies. Forget the Heroin Chic fad a few years ago. We now have ditzy blondes on a swing. This is quite possibly the most insensitive and pitiful thing I have seen yet. Me, me, me! Get over yourselves and get involved with something that doesn't add to our increasingly foolish image the world sees thanks to our president. The tits and a*s(holes) are headed to Ebola country next. One can only hope.
These are some self centered bitches. Maybe they will absorb a dose of radiation to make their hair fall out and sore all over their plastic surgery faces!!!!
What a horrible influences!! What’s the message....it is ok to be vapid, thoughtless, and awful as long as you get a “good” picture?
Horrible. Seriously, why TF would you want to get naked (or very close to naked) at the site of a horrible tragedy? I'm losing faith in humanity. Believe me when I say when I visited the Holocaust Museum in D.C., I did not ONCE think of stripping down to get a "sexy" pic or to seem "adventurous". I took pictures and I posted it with all due respect to the victims and the people that died. Jesus Christ, I f*****g hate humanity.
Their vanity trip is going to be short lived when these people start going out of style. Stuff like this is going to speed up the process.
This is one disgusting testimony to a generation with absolutely no concept of wrong and right, only self absorbed self gratification. Using death, destruction, world altering places on this earth to show off a*s’s and abs, get your heads out of your own a*s’s and look at the world around you. I would really want to interview these narcissists someday to see what their on site photos look like with some intelligent life skills and retrospection. This makes me so angry
If I didn't know better, this would have made me think SM influencers to be the shallowest, most revolting creatures on this earth.
Where next, Yulin dog meat festival, Faroe island whale slaughter, Taiji dolphin hunt ??
read other comments in this section that have already answered this question.
Load More Replies...Makes me sick to my stomach that someone could show off their abs and tits on a site where the destiny of an entire continent has been changed forever. How is that even a thing???
they got the exposure they needed. get it? exposure. heheehehehehehehhe ok i will stop now
I hope they all get enough radiation poisoning that they become infernal and baron. We don't need this stupid in our world.
Infertile. They're already infernal, which stands for devilish, or evil.
Load More Replies...Which is worse: The people who made these posts or the people who follow them?
Wandering around aforementioned radiated area barefoot and in underwear DOUBLE CHECK!!! This is ridiculous.
Load More Replies...I vomit anytime someone tells me they are influencers. Oh I'm sorry you have no real skills to handle a career. remind me what you are influencing? That you took a picture and edited it.
The photos would have a greater effect w/o the folks posing in them. It is important to learn from tragedies of the past - as well as be respectful towards the victims as well as those who lost loved ones.
Do they know they’re likely to get cancer and other health issues with those likes?
Yes, but think of all the great pics they can get in the cancer ward!
Load More Replies...IDK; I'm inda glad they do. They change their fake "look at me caring for the world/other people/animals" at every second; so after they are done with Tjernobyl it can atleast be a place of remembrance and eduation again for a good solid 20 years. They are like cicades but unfortunately not as interesting as that insect species.
No, I can honestly say with conviction that I would never in a million years do something as tacky as these people are doing. Even money wouldn’t be enough to get me to go to a place of tragedy, lost lives, horrific human treatment of our planet, on and on and treat it like a carnival. These people have no respect, empathy and certainly no pride in themselves, not to mention a sh*t load of radiation that I would be severely skeptical of it “being safe for a short time.” Yeah...no way.
Did they even watch the series??? Stay there you disrespectful a******s.
Superficial, Empty Headed Morons. When their varnish rubs off, hopefully the rot will set in.
They don't influence me. They make me want to run far far away from them because they stink of gross narcissism and make me sick
The photo of rami.mogyorosi was not taken at Chernobyl, please delete it! It was a joke, but true, Hungary sometimes looks like a blowed up nuclear plant.
I hope they all get cancer, try posing in your chemo caps you insensitive bunch of daftys.
I saw some documentary videos weeks ago and really wanted to go there. Know that i saw that those idiots are going there, i dont want anymore.
Why the hell would you want to expose yourself, on PURPOSE, to radiation? Oh right, fame. Idiots.
If they get cancer from radiation.. well.. it's their own mistake.
Self centered, self absorbed, and self serving. One can only hope you all get deathly ill because of this.
This is not only dangerous (touching all kinds of stuff and walking around barely wearing any clothes) but also extremely disrespectful. Essentially these people are using the suffering of others in order to obtain superficial love from strangers, and I despise it. I’m not exaggerating when I say I think the world would be better off without instagram ‘disrespectful egocentric attention whores’ (as Iris Jans said.)
"Look at my a*s in front of a destroyed building. I'm so artsy and original"
Those of us who partake in urban exploration have had to put up with increasing numbers of these so called idiot 'influencers' on YouTube and Instagram the last couple of years. They've hijacked this hobby in their never-ending quest for likes and subs and we're sick of them!
I know. There are certain scenes, sites and places that you don’t have to have somebody posing. The site or scene speaks for itself.
This is surely the most repulsive photoshoot I can remember seeing in my years of enjoying Bored Panda...why publish it? I do not wish these people ill, though they do make me feel slightly ill. Yes, as someone else noted, total lack of empathy. Concentration camps next? Destroyed Syrian cities? Flint , Michigan water supply?
I think this has to be one of the most repulsive photoshoots I have seen in my years of enjoying Bored Panda, I do not wish these people ill, they do make me slightly ill however
Seriously? I went this year and wrote this: https://www.pointsandtravel.com/tours-of-chernobyl/
Seriously?? How disappointing! I went this year and wrote this: https://www.pointsandtravel.com/tours-of-chernobyl/
They try this when there are other Americans (the ones who have values) who have made a special trip to the Twin Towers site to remember present, and they will regret it severely. They get away with it at Chernobyl mostly because it's mostly deserted, and the few natives around are too f*****g polite to slap them down at once.
Load More Replies...Welp. I hope they enjoyed showing off their bodies this year because they are going to be riddled with cancer next year.
These guys are taking a pi&&, completely ignoring the human and ecological disaster for their 15 minutes in fame. I absolutely despise this kind of curated BS. Fair enough to people who just want to go there to see the disaster for themselves, but FFS, don't make it your vogue backdrop....
If I didn't see this with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it, there's no hope for the future. I actually feel embarrassed looking at these.
Not sure why any of these people are labeled "influencer"...what are they influencing. I will say this about most of the photos though. Contrasting God-given beauty with the horror and pure ugliness of a man-made disaster IS a powerful image. I am sad that most of these people don't understand the magnitude of breathing in what's been left behind at that scene...that they don't understand they could possibly be standing on the ashes of a human life blown in the wind. But there is a stunning difference of the pictures...beauty, health, strength...against the stark reality of what someone beautiful, healthy and strong once created AND left to destroy this earth.
Vapid is an understatement. The only reason there is anything called "influencer" is because people, in general, are sheep and really just want the next shiny thing.
I agree with those who want them to stay there. Let THEM die of radiation poisoning, their features slowly 'melting' as radiation takes hold... Maybe they'd do some good with their lives, (and their stupid selfies!) that way.
We really need to change what "Influencers" do, this is just really bad!!!
Please... let's stop protecting people from themselves. It's one of the "problems" of civilization. In nature, stupidity is a capital offense. Let Darwinism take it's course.
I never wish ill on anyone, and here I am finding myself hoping that everyone of these vapid, self-absorbed psychopathss get cancer.
Bored Panda posted the “influencers” pic. 🙄 Why? Those of us who are outraged at the lack and respect don’t need the visual proof and those who are least likely to care see it as positive sel-promotion. Please stop giving these parasites a platform.
Isn't it dangerous to visit Chernobyl without a gas mask? Those tourists could be seriously sick from the high levels of radioactivity and radiation there.
do they know that they still can be exposed to a small radiation dose, that at long term will affect their health. I know someone who visited 40 years later Hiroshima and bought as souvenir a watch stopped at the time the nuke explode, from that time having putting this watch in his pocket he became sterile......Think about it before you go to this kind of spot.
My most distinct memory of visiting the Pearl Harbor memorial is of kids getting their picture taken by their parents and they had huge smiles on their faces as they posed I front of the wall of names of those who died there. So clueless. So sad. Especially because there were men there who had been on Oahu on the day if the invasion.
And BoredPanda has gone right ahead and republished these outrageously offensive pictures. Yes, I know you wanted to make a point, but you gave these "influencers" the public forum they're craving. Years ago as an art critic, I refused to cover any show which was angling for attention. ANY publicity IS publicity.
I'm actually worried they're called INFLUENCERS, they influence others to become apathetic, stupid and self-absorbed pricks.
I see this as a good thing...to all the "influencers"planning to go there...Please please take pictures sitting on the "elephant's foot"... no really, have a 6 hour long photo-soot to get the "glowing" pictures you deserve. Also Chernobylite crystals are the new thing...
Good God! It this does not epitomize the problems on our world right now Idk what will. This is a tragedy ppl and you are stripping down for pics. Un F'ing believable! I am so ashamed of my fellow human beings some days. This is one of them. There was a commenter that is not sure they want to go someday to visit and show respect because of this. The upside of this is the interest will pass for the "influencers" and they will move on to the next big disaster area for their photo shoots. S
At the same time Bored Panda publishes those pictures so the so called influencers did it again.
Yes, but BP is unequivocally saying "This is tasteless and obscene" not "This is hip and cool, I want to buy product x." It's a tough line to walk - similar to 'How many times should you disclose a mass shooter's name?' Once? None? How do you cover a story without encouraging the next screwball with a camera or a gun?
Load More Replies...It's just disrespectful. It's like going to a graveyard and posing over someone's grave.
Chernobyl is STILL RADIOACTIVE....do not visit there if you value your health...you WILL get high doses of radiation and it COULD give you radiation sickness or cancer. BE WARNED...it it NOT SAFE to go there...
There is beauty to seen in the way the earth is reclaiming the land, however it's not a damn stage to find followers. That's some disrespectful sh*t right there.
One series gets popular and selfie ducks gather around it to catch the popularity and get naked
This has given me feelings I haven't had before. It's like a mix of sadness, hate and confusion. All I can think is 'is this what the world has come to?'
So even though Bored Panda call them out as "hideously thoughtless and tasteless" pics, they still show them regardless! Hypocritical, much?
Better here than forcing people to go to their websites and giving them the numbers they want!
Load More Replies...Wait, isn't the creator of the show making a s**t tonne of money off the disaster?! My friend has been running tours in Chernobyl for years and said the people still living there appreciate visitors. I'm not okaying taking insincere photographs but this is a double edged sword. Don't @ me ...
Eh, whatever. It’s stupid but most people are f*****g SLOW. Less competition for me I guess.
My company specializes in transporting and safety of Radioactive material so I am just loving this show and it inspired us to book a tour next year. Our reasons for wanting to go are simply to for us to learn as much as we can. I am truly passionate about Radiation safety. I am hoping by seeing what happened on the Gound will also inspire me to do my job better. If I get some cool photos along the way that's awesome!!! I honor all the people who lost their lives and I really do believe it shaped a great potion of Radiation Safety we have today.
Very tasteless. For those of you who clearly have more respect for people who continue to be affected by this terrible disaster, you can find out more about what is being done to support them by watching this video. It was made 10 years ago by Chernobyl Children's Project (UK), a charity which has many fantastic projects in the contaminated country of Belarus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hb1DPbUhFE&fbclid=IwAR2QGgzJZKeC5eylJ4m2ZjWsnMEZOvVAKkjI8Wd2B6tFGCavl4OiexhJdj0
I'm sorry, why exactly do people follow influencers? Like actually why?
They're not "influencers" they're under the influence of something strong, to get undressed and pose, to sit on a metal swing and walk inside a pool. It's okay you guys, we can afford to lose these ones. I honestly don't want my kids growing up to be influenced by self-centred narcissistic selfie-dependent role models.
God demit... In that place is so much pain, sadness, suffering, so many deaths. And instead of this these people decided selfies, naked asses and six-pack's are more important then what happened there. It's like dancing on the grave and making selfies during funeral. I hope they got all exposure they deserve. Smart phones and dump people era.
I hope they all get a pellet of plutonium were the sun dont shine. Bunch of vapid useless meatsacks.
They are stupid idiots along with those organising these trips. It is still f*****g dangerous to go there. Why would you risk your life for some stupid likes? But in the end is natural selection, I guess
Let me ask you this - Do you think all these "influencers" would do things like this, without a camera crew? Just by pure, human.. curiosity? Really, how much of their daily lifes matters to them if they weren't able to post it online? What you can learn from influencers is what really matters to you regardless if you tell and show it to the whole world or nobody. It's your life, your joy, your pride, you don't have to prove it to anybody. Unless you're a narcissistic little s**t.
Well, at least one positive thing will come out of there, in a few years there will be a couple less "Influencers" or whatever the f.. that means
I would love to go there but not to flash my bottom or take selfies... to capture the raw element as it is, the smaller details respectfully. I can imagine quite a few UberX explorers will have fun there (but at least that gives credit to the location not a person using it as a background)
Meh. Aren’t we just giving them more attention anyways? At least it isn’t a natural structure or something that can be disrupted by them being there
I think that lady that got mostly naked is going to regret her decision in 10 years or so when the scans come back.
That does not work that way, unless she encounters a powerfull beta radiation source (and gets beta burns) or a gamma radiation source (which is penetrating anyway, so light clothing will not help her). However, touching stuff you didnt confirm safe then touching your body, is a not a great idea. So those that were using a swing, or going down the swimming pool? Yeah, thats a contamination potential (pool esp. since its a place where dust can easily gather into - and I dont see her walking down there with a counter/mask tbh...)

Bored Panda, writing a thought provoking piece on exploitation and then using a tweet where someone says "it's gonna be a r****d tourist fest now." That was the best tweet you could find? Really? I was going to share this until I got to that bit. Pfft. DO BETTER.
The image of a person/model/wannabe model going with a few others for photography reasons to Chernobyl is very amusing also downvote for the r******d immature censorship
Seems like you're just generation-shaming. People can't help the fact that they are millennials.
Load More Replies...Well, I "shot" a few thousand Russian soldiers and attack dogs at those locations... Call of Duty:Modern Warfare :D :D :D :D :D
They don't go there to pay respects to those who died- they just take photos for likes. This is nothing like shaming for being gay- there is being gay with no choice and there is idiots with choice who disrespect dead people for 'likes'!
Load More Replies...They are disrespecting the whole disaster and tragedy that happened there ( I was a kid living in Poland and we had to take medicine because of Chernobyl- that's how far it went!), Not to mention there is still radioactivity there and I mean- how disrespectful for those who died and soooo stupid. Anyone with half- decency- wouldn't do what they do so no- it's not harsh. Idiots, period!
Load More Replies...The same bunch of idiots who take smiling selfies in Auschwitz.

I hope they all get enough radiation poisoning that they become infernal and baron. We don't need this stupid in our world.
Infertile. They're already infernal, which stands for devilish, or evil.
